Doing a playthrough of this now, Fatal Frame 1-3 are the best horror games i've ever played. So i'm interested to see how this compares
>>
Its not all that scary and the final boss is difficult because its a Fromsoft game. Also once again in a Fromsoft game trees are evil.

RC Stunt copter for the PS1 is a horrible game but I really like it for some reason. Look up the ending...

Played only the demo, but it was cool and flying around someone's house surely was a nice novelty.
>>
>$1000+

game collectors need to be kirked
>>
>>720975539
just emulate it retard. the game wasn't preserved online at risk of fines and imprisonment just so you could whine about it being inaccessible.
>>

If you’re coming from OG Fatal Frame you might find the atmosphere here a bit different-less slow-burning dread, more oppressive surrealism. It definitely leans more into dream logic and cosmic horror, like if FF2 had a baby with Silent Hill 4 during a fever dream. The camera mechanics still feel spiritual though, especially during those ghost encounters that bend physics. Keep your expectations tempered, but there's still soul in it.

already emulated it on pcx2. just the prices make me feel funny about game collectors
>>
>>720974095
Started playing it and... it's just not a fun game. Although enjoyed somehow the exploration. King's Field is far more interesting.

Beautiful aesthetic, but dogshit game.

>can't run with spooking the demons
>if you do then you get a spooky post-processing screen effect!
>puzzles are extremely esoteric
>stupid card-based combat system
>Resident evil 1 hitboxes for grab animations meaning you'll get grabbed miles away from enemies
>convoluted story involving three different playable segments
>probably fromsofts most awkward project ever
>load times are kind of obnoxious

The real strength of the game is that aside from some fictional liberties with the story is a satisfying period piece during Heian period of japan. The clothing, the architecture, characters etc are all beautiful. If this part went over your head then i'd say half the game is lost. It is kinda like Rule of Rose in that regard where the sum of its parts makes it good, no necessarily the combat. If you played magic user in souls the magic system willl be familiar as you only get limited charges. The weakness is that theres only 4 or 5 enemy types. In the start of the game you get a memo that says if you run enemies are more likely to notice and attack you, but after several replays this has absolutely no effect on anything.

Bought Kuon when it was $40 for pal version. ESRB was $80 and i went for the Pal because it had the way better cover. Theres an ingame toggle for NTSC support anyway. It has an additional Italian track but they took out the intro movie which was okay at best.

Also the whole nature of curse's getting-into-a-big-ornate-box was also used in Fatal Frame 5. Must be a common folk terror trope i assume

bought Kuon in 2005 for 9.90 € in a shitty newsstand that happened to have a bargain bin of ''new'' ps2 games for some reason, found out last year that it's now worth like 1000 €, but the FromFag in me won't let me sell it
>>
>>720975539
I bought a copy last week, how does that make you feel?
>>720979631
Everything about it apart from the gameplay is excellent.
The attention to detail is insane. Stellar art direction.

This. it's a genuine work of art. Unfortunately it's all uncultured pigs here.

Am I the only one that gets a hard on for bitches from the Heian period? Between this and the Kwaidan movie I don't know why but I was incredibly attracted by the women.

Fuck ass game made me jump and knee my desk
>>

What are you kidding
I own this game bought it used for ten dollars

One part of the game i always found mysterious was when your in the outer pavilions of the mansion i think. You run into a 2 figures sitting in front of a lake chatting. Its one of the zombified males in court outfit and a robed lady that is apparently a ghost as she fades away as you approach. I dont think she ever comes out again and dont think there was any memo writing about it. mightve just been a random scene that im thinking too much about, just was a memorable part of the game and it felt there was a little more than just a random event

Currently playing Fatal Frame 2 (just got seperated from Miyu in the cell area), it's fucking kino. Why isn't it bought up more when discussing games like RE and Silent Hill?
>>
>>720987709
It's kind of obscure and too "animey" for common audience.
>>
>>720974095
Whats /v/s thoughts on Echo Night: Beyond?
>>
>>720987709
Believe it or not, theres a good chuck of people that wont play FF games cuz you play as a female. Have you seen all the seethe the new Silent hill F is getting cuz its basically Fatal Frame settings and real jap looking characters but with silent hill gameplay. But it is getting up there in years. The scares were definitely more impactful back in the day.

my favorite room in all of video games is that indoor courtyard that has a tree in the middle and a star case that wraps around the walls to go to 2nd floor. youll know it when you see it. Its just so fucking kino. I remember i played the remake on wii and the vibe in this room wasnt the same due to the over the shoulder angle. I did some quick googling and i think this was it, though the image doesnt do it justice. Just so you know more or less what it looks like

I lost 1000$ in cash few days ago when I was drunk. I only have 300$ left.
>>
>>720988158
Yeah I tried the Wiimake and the atmosphere just wasn't the same. Curious to know how the ghost scenes that rely on fixed camera angles work with the over the shoulder camera
>>
>>720990134
damn. my uncle is an a/c guy and did a apartment job with multple units one day. Had $3k in his pocket, stopped for a burger at this shitty burger stand and when he got home couldnt find the cash. Someone mustve had a really good time that day
>>

>Kuon

I always remember this one as "that game where the plot only happens because the main character refuses to walk three feet over grass".
>>
>>720987709
>Why isn't it bought up more when discussing games like RE and Silent Hill?

Well, quite simply because Fatal Frame is a much less popular franchise.
>yeah but why is it less popular
Who the fuck knows? Popularity works in mysterious ways. I guess some people find the whole "photographing ghosts" concept to be silly.
