Myers is a longstanding veteran of the United States Army and former CEO of militech. She is no stranger to combat. The "mow down an army" mission is in fact a chaotic escape through a neighbourhood in anarchy which has just had Airforce One crash into it. You can stealth most of it, and when you're discovered it's highly implied throughout that you only survive by the skin of your teeth/thanks to Songbird.

If you ditch her, she dies. If you get her to the safehouse then ditch her, she dies. If you have a high enough body skill, you can immediately overpower her when you meet her.

Of the endings, I like the one where only your consciousness is saved, from a sequel point of view. If CP 2 will allow you to import your save or choose what you did in prequel, the game would be pretty cool having V in Johnny's place as you control the new protagonist. And one of the future endings could have V taking over the body.

V is (correct me if I'm wrong tabletopfags) the strongest Merc in Night City (if not the world) at the time of that raid. Obviously with PL this is implied to be partly bolstered by the relic, but V is unironically the single strongest Merc to ever have lived. He takes on Adam Smasher solo and wins; he spends the entire game facing down armies of goons who he dispatches with ease.

He also doesn't destroy a corporation. He doesn't even destroy Arasaka tower; he fights his way in and to the basement. It's intended to be near-impossible, because it's the act that cements him as a Night City Legend. Most tend to say that the actual fight between Smasher and V (considering how in lore strong they both are) should have levelled not only the tower but the area around it. There's also the longrunning suggestion that people can just be that good without implants (like Blackhand).

The reason people assume its canon is because it tidies up the story in the neatest way, and in all honesty it is the most natural conclusion to the game's actual plot; you are not trying to live forever, you are not trying to save your own life, you are trying to become a legend. Midway through the game V has that realisation and in dozens of conversations you literally say

You get a decent Beserk/Gorilla Arms, and between 1 and 4 (or 5?) iconic items; a handgun, a cyberdeck, a machine gun, and an smg-and one of the worst endings.

Songbird is an egoist, Reed is selfless. Songbird uses and betrays everyone around her, Reed was undercover and not on duty for 7 years in some shithole and the moment the government reaches out to him he doesn't hesitate to go on a mission for them again. Only one deserves any respect here.

The game makes a huge point of going out in a blaze of glory, or fading into obscurity. The endings mirror this. Personally, I thought they should have given us a golden ending if they're selling us DLC, and getting the 2nd worst ending instead is pretty gay.

The difference is she starts off that way. During her and Reed's infamous op, NUSA higher ups get word from Arasaka that peace is available-if they hand over Reed. They tell Songbird to do so. She does it. Later, in Phantom Liberty, she tries to get out from under everyone-doing whatever she needs (and fucking over whoever necessary) to do in order to get away.

V never did anything like that. He got in over his head due to his ambition-his existing friends help him. He meets people along the way and often befriends them, because he isn't a jaded isolated NUSA agent.

Yorinobu was intentionally letting you go - if you choose the NUSA ending, you learn that he sabotaged Arasaka from the inside. He wanted to sell the relic to NetWatch, having you roam the streets was all the same to him. Look at how fast Arasaka goons got his sister out, they would have killed you if they wanted to.
