This game has one of the worst endings I've ever seen
>teleports you to a low-poly unfinished model of Rome, didn't even bother to add background music
>infiltrate and fight the Pope, he stabs you but somehow you survive?
>challenge Pope to a fistfight which he agrees to despite having the upper hand otherwise
>defeat him but spare his life for no reason
>writers dont even bother trying to justify it in the sequel

The entire plot of AC Brotherhood wouldnt even be necessary if you just killed him in AC2. Not to mention the fact you had multiple chances to kill him throughout the game.

Revelations is where it truly shined for the ezio saga
>>
it would be 5x better without the weird ass modern storyline

I really like the Ezio trilogy desu, feels like a proper story arc where you follow the protag from childhood (teenhood) to old age and death, sure theres bullshit here and there and plot contrivances but ultimately they're fun and you spend time with someone that's memorable with an equally memorable cast.
>>
Finally someone agrees that this shit's retarded and overrated. Same with black flag. Neither are even in the top 5 asscreeds
>>
I'm sure they planned to split the game into two before AC2 even released
>>
>>720976529
Disagree I like it. In AC1 it was done a lot better though. Didnt like how you escape so easily at the start of 2, or how none of the guards have guns.
The Truth sections were cool though

AC2 is noteworthy because it basically invented the Ubisoft formula, which was novel at the times the consequence of this however is that it’s aged badly. AC2 had feature creep because they decided to over correct the complaint some people had of AC1 not having much side content.

i think he was supposed to but the game's reception being so shit killed it

Ac1 was the only ac game with good story. Ezio trilogy is total goyslop, and by the third game revelations its also wokeslop
>>
>>720978171
AC2’s story was made more capeshit-like because lots of people were filtered by AC1’s more philosophical story. I remember when AC1 first game out that a lot of people found the ending confusing.
>>
>>720978171
Agreed there was power fantasy creep with Ezio. Also it feels like im playing Chad Simulator with all the annoying sex and romance scenes which werent in the first game

I'm ambivalent about it. I liked the Desmond-era storyline when I originally played 1 through Revelations, and I liked it again when I replayed those and 3 for the first time. On the other hand, if that were all removed and the games were just straight historical fiction, I don't think even those titles would suffer for it in the least. And the later games ranged from awful (Black Flag and everything with that useless cunt whatsherface) to might-as-well-not-be-there (Unity and Syndicate, though I liked Shaun's dumbfuck comments in the latter).

>>720976434
The justification was pretty much just that Borgia was still alive at that point in history. You can fudge the dates a bit here and there, but actually killing him would have been much. Not that it matters, he's not the antagonist in Brotherhood.
>>
>>720978896
they'll remake it like they're doing black flag but improved with the rpg, loot and combat system of the new ones
>>
>>720976434
I found the assassinations more interesting and memorable in AC1 than AC2
>>
>>720976434
AC2 had weak writing from the start but the exact moment it falls apart and never recovers is when the assassins have cornered Borgia in Venice and... he pushes Ezio lightly, Ezio falls down, and Borgia runs away while none of the assassins stop him. It's genuinely idiotic, embarrassing even. It retroactively turns the entire game into a farce.
>>
>>720976484
Revelations was surprisingly fun
>>
>>720981143
Revelations is the best Ezio game. I played them all and this was the only conclusion I could draw.
>>
>>720980986
Yeah the drop in writing quality is noticeable compared with AC1. And it got worse with every sequel.
>but the exact moment it falls apart and never recovers is when the assassins have cornered Borgia in Venice and... he pushes Ezio lightly, Ezio falls down, and Borgia runs away while none of the assassins stop him
I had a generally good impression of the game until that moment. From then onwards it was a complete joke, especially the DLC segments that feel out of place. And the fist fight with the Pope in the Vatican was farcical. Just left a bitter taste in my mouth after what was a decent game up to that point.
>>
>>720981192
I get that they wanted to preserve the real world timeline with Borgia, but they could've written literally anything instead of that. It's so bafflingly incompetent and BAD that I can't not shit on it on principle.
>>
>>720981315
I thought the game was hinting that the ending would be in Cyprus since there were so many references to it and that's where the Apple was. Would've been a better ending imo.

Once I started playing 3 and the hook claw wasn't there I dropped it
>>
>>720981728
the hook claw was a turkish design
>>
>>720981645
Interesting. They were obviously way too ambitious, could have easily cut Forli and San Gimignano and made Rome instead. But it's also Ubisoft's fault for demanding annual releases
