I'd say more diverse inspiration pool because the west has a wide-array of Knightly designs they can get inspired by, or even something like Antiquity era armor. So in general there's a larger pool of inspirations. The Japanese from their own culture only really have Samurai armor, which hasn't changed too much in terms of the overall design. Regardless, I do think the Japanese know how to make good mech designs (which either way, Gundam was originally meant to be a power armor series before higher-ups told Tomino to make it mecha instead), and it's not like they are completely restricted by inspiration pool, a lot of the best designs I've seen from the Japanese tend to be more creative or even take inspiration from foreign cultures. As for warrior culture and how super soldiers behave? I'd argue it's because the west in general leans very heavily on antiquity warrior culture like Romans, Spartans, etc for inspiration. The Japanese tend to really only think of either Samurai warrior culture or alternatively the post-war era mentality which tends to be more deconstructive (granted, western super soldiers also tend to be deconstructive, even Warhammer 40k does the same thing, it just does it differently since it's a parody type of deconstruction).>>720982725Yep, it's kind of a shit comparison.
