Truth. This was where all the ball-busting action games were.

Having grown up with the Gamecube and PS2, most of the platformers weren't that intense.
Then I got into rage games like I Wanna be the Guy and Boshy.
Overall, Silksong is on the harder side of things.
Difficulty is generally a very relative metric that can't be so easily quantified into hard or not hard, but there's lots of qualitative metrics that differentiate these things.
Some examples (some are Silksong, some are not):
>Is a game that intentionally makes movement obtuse hard?
Not necessarily, but it makes the game overall more difficult.
>Is a game that makes exploration a pain in the ass by constantly hiding shit behind easy-to-miss breakable walls hard?
Not necessarily, but it makes the game overall more difficult...
>Is a game that puts you in low visibility situations often hard?
>Is a game that hides traps everywhere hard?
>Finely-tuning enemy spawns so as to make them hard to deal with unless you take your time, but often you wanna rush cause you're focused on something else?
>Obtuse puzzles?
>Excessive HP pools on enemies?
>Permanently locking you out of certain content if you do something else?
Etc. etc. These individual variables tend to make a game more difficult in various ways, but on their own, aren't really enough to call a game hard. It's when you stack a lot of them up together that it attains the label of hard. But it's still an extremely subjective metric regardless, cause how much people value each of those things will vary wildly.
In the end, Silksong is hard for a casual, but is just right for an experienced gamer.
Also, GMTK makes a fair few baity videos.

Silksong is harder than any popular PS2 game. What are you talking about?
