ITT Mid-ass games you liked
The Euphoria physics were really cool when the game came out. Stormtroopers holding onto objects/each other, people falling over in pretty convincing ways and interacting with the environment, etc.Cool shit.Too bad otherwise it was nothing really that groundbreaking. And the boss battles sucked donkey balls. At times it just felt like a tech demo for the physics engine lul.But at least it tried doing something cool and new, gotta give it that.
>>721018740I prefer the ps2 version.
>>721019594It's crazy that they made so many versions, they're basically different games with the same name
>>721019594well you're an anime poster so of course you have a bad tasteno surprise there
>>721018740Both Kane and Lynch games.
>>721018740Watch_Dogs
Starkiller has the best drip in the Star Wars series
it was KINO but also mid as fuck
>>721018740
Replayed this recently with DS2LightingEngine and I enjoyed it way more than my first run when it came out.
>>721024694Of course Anon It's the best souls game.
>>721018740I liked it too. Harder difficulties were total bullshit though, on hardest the bosses take literally hundreds of hits, had to stop playing during that rancor + sith bitch bossfight because it was such a huge aste of time if you died
>lift a trooper with the force>impale him with your saber>charge him with lightning>throw him as a makeshift grenade towards his squad, killing everyone at once
>>721024694Genuine the last good Souls-game From made outisde of Bloodborne. I love it for that alone since it symbolizes the end of an era.Damn shame that the souls genre essentially died with it and not even indies manage to re-resurrect it correctly.
Was gonna post >>721022515 first. It's my favorite game period and I 100% it about once every other year.
>>721032406>post a masterpiece in mid game thread
>>721027139>Still die as a hero and a legendK I N O
>>721032406 never watched that p*do show why are little kids going into the abyss that they cant get back up too fast or they burst
>>721034148Because they live in an orphanage and are poor as fuck. Most adults all died and the only way to gain money is by collecting artifacts so they go in suicidal missions.
>>721034148because the Abyss litteraly look into you and want their soul, maybe building a whole city around it wasn't the greatest idea
Spore
>>721019594>anime profile pic>shitty tasteevery time
>>721018740soundtrack had no right to be as good as it was.
>>721019974they could be had a Saturn port for all we know
>>721032624Sure.....
Yeah, I like black music.
>>721018740played countless hours of this one, till have it.
>>721037914I had a friend in college who was a legitimate amateur blacksmith, like he made a whole gauntlet for Halloween one year, and was the only white guy in the kendo club who thought this was the greatest game ever made. I watched him botch a sure thing with a girl twice because it came up in conversation and he couldn’t help himself (yes, we brought it up one of those times on purpose because it was so hilarious the first time)
>>721018740a good thread on /v/
>>721038494he sounds based.
>>721029035the souls series didnt get popular until Dark Souls 3 and at that point, the community just wanted more and more action. so all those older games that focused on level design, like surge 1/2 and lords of the fallen 2014 got shat on, and rightfully so in some cases. but I think it proved that the community doesnt want a focus on level design or exploration, and just want boss fights. so its like the indie devs want to make a game similar, but all they see are people praising the combat, so theyre adverse to riski mean, looking at Nightreigns success shows it. pure anecdotal, but I also noticed that when people talk highly of elden rings open world, I always see them preface it with, "I dont normally enjoy open world games". which i think is very tellingtheres probably other reasons, like how combat needs to evolve, and the people that liked the earlier entries dont want combat thats too much, but then its like we make it too basic, just like the original ones were, and its kinda re-treading over the same ground. i dont know what im talking about.
>>721039406>DS wasnt popular until 3>Surge and fallen focused on level designYeah I'm not reading the rest. You're absolute full of shit
>>721037738>one of the best rhythm games ever made>midDJ Hero had way more soul than anything else like it, it was just cursed to come out as the wave of these games crashed. After years of hearing how good the second was I finally played it around 2019 and it really does manage to improve everything about the first to make it somehow even better. The third game getting cancelled was criminal.
>>721039651Wdespread popularity didnt happen until DS3Demons was ps3 exclusive, Ds1 got a surge in popularity because of the PC, ds2 was popular because the journo's had to glorify it, BB was exclusive, and then we finally had DS3 which was on all platforms and sold a lot more a lot quicker than the othersand yes, those games did focus on the levels. sorry you dont want to talk about it, but this isnt really the thread for it anyway
>>721037914This was almost a masterpiece, it just needed some adjustments. >only way to get enough money for upgrades is to spend literally half the game breaking every single box you can find>ammo for anything but the revolver is so scarce you might as well not even have other guns
>>721024694>Replayed this recently with DS2LightingEnginesame just this winter. first time in 10 years. it's fucking great, god damn. fuck the haters i was right.>>721029035>resurrect it correctlyyou'd think it wouldn't be so hard. maybe it's bc everyone shit a brick over 3; favoring action over rpg
>>721018740MK9
Charming game if you can get over the fact that it's a blatant Gears of War knockoff, but otherwise the definition of mid.Goth and metal chicks seem to absolutely love playing it in co-op though.
>>721018740I liked prince of persia forgotten sands(wii)
>>721019974Fr? I had no idea
>>721018740it's one of my guilty pleasures. The sequel just sucked but the first game was actually pretty fun.I have both the 360 version and the Wii version, the Wii version had less physics and shit but it was the one time wagglan was pretty fun, and then there was a fighting game mode on it so you could get drunk friends playing it against each other and it's hilarious
>>721022515I liked the psp version more.it replaced the open world with a game of risk.you played a board game of risk and when you attacked and got attacked, it would enter a mission where you had to defend, attack, intimidate a shop keeper, rob a place or blow up a hide out with dynamite.I really liked it. was very fun.it also came with a fun story mode.
>>721018740>ULTIMATE SHIT EDITION
>>721045704I don't remember the sequel being much different. The story is even more retarded, of course, but you don't play TFUs for their story.
Metroid Other Mgameplay feels like Super Metroid but in 3D. Much better moment to moment gameplay than Prime.story is shit, but who really cares?map could be way better though, it's just mid
>>721021310>>721036779>anything cartoonishly drawn is animeRetards.
>>721046143it was short and the story was so bad that I got taken out of itI still got through it but I don't have fond memories like the first.
>>721046143>>721046837and really the first TFU story wasn't awful, and I really liked the Ultimate Sith Edition's post darkside ending stages where you kill Old Ben and then convert Luke to the Dark Side on Hoth. That shit was cool.
>>721046143You're right that the gameplay is more of the same, but the package is just inferior. In TFU 1, Darth Vader spends twenty minutes Force-pushing wookies off a bridge in Kashyyk; then you go to a TIE factory, India, Felucia, inside a Star Destroyer, Cloud City, Fortunate Son Kashyyk, Vore Hell Felucia, the Jedi Temple, New Mombai, then capping it all off by raiding the Death Star. All the alien planets have unique and fleshed out environments and enemies to interact with and you're constantly introduced to a steady stream of new Imperial soldiers and vehicles to victimize with your growing arsenal of abilities. In TFU 2, it's Kamino, Temu Cloud City, inside a rebel ship that couldn't pay the electricity bills, then it's right back to Kamino like you never even left and you'll never even notice you left because you've been fighting the exact same rotation of Stormtroopers with the exact same abilities from the moment the tutorial ends until the moment Vader tells you your waifu is shit. It doesn't have nearly the same scale or sense of adventure as the first game which makes replaying 2 more than once or twice feel limp and uninspired compared to what you could do in 1.
>>721046996lol, so which planet are you referring to as "india"?
>>721046898>>721046996Fair enough. The original never made such an impression on me so they kind of blend together in my memories. I don't think either is a bad game at least.
>>721047241
>>721047241I have to assume he means Raxus Prime cause of how dirty that world is, how the Jawa can be seen as brown, and how it gets transformed after the empire takes over. (The 360 boss fight on the second visit where Proxy turns into Darth Maul was one of my favorite boss fighting. Shame it wasn't on the PSP version of the game.)
>>721037624>Anakin having a padawanCringe.>Vader having a secret apprenticeKino.
>>721046996I didn't go into it like you, but I agree 100%TFU2 was insultingly short and unvaried, and it had a terrible story.TFU was actually one of the better stories for a star wars video game, not KOTOR level but it was good.KOTOR and its sequel and MMO, TFU, and the Kyle Katarn games, that's as good as Star Wars gets in video games for story.and yeah it was a decent adventure, especially getting the Jedi you blinded while trying to kill to guide you, a good twist to the mentor character of the Hero's Journey story format.
>>721048007 Yeah, that has to be Raxus. The "India" bit was probably just some /v/ gremlin speak for "jungley tech-dump with brown cloaked dudes." And honestly, that fight with Proxy-as-Maul was so kino it almost made me forget the rest of the game's jank. Shame the PSP version got done dirty with all its stripped content. I still remember being hyped seeing that phase in trailers and then wondering where the hell it went when I played the handheld version.
>>721019594I prefer the PSP Version.
>>721050356>TFU was actually one of the better stories for a star wars video gameIt served its purpose and could have been a decent broad strokes bridge between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope if it existed in a vacuum. It had a nice and compact cast of characters that played their roles well, and spun a good yarn about learning to let go of hate (but only after you've beaten those who have wronged you within an inch of their lives). Like you say, it was an entertaining twist on the Hero's Journey with Starkiller being torn between the abusive mentality he's always known and the Force guiding him towards atonement when he can barely even comprehend the concept of forgiveness or being forgiven. Kota is awesome, Proxy is awesome, Starkiller is awesome, that Imperial general with a carbonite statue of Jar Jar Binks turning Kashyyk into his personal safari game is awesome, the whole cast is awesome the way summer blockbuster flicks used to be awesome. But summer blockbusters are rarely remembered for their writing, they're remembered for providing a big boost of adrenaline and those exhilarating moments of catharsis that let you walk out of the theater with your head held high, and that's what TFU is at its core. It's not really meant to be a narrative you reflect on besides musing "wasn't it awesome when X/Y/Z?" Yes. Yes it was. Just don't think about it too hard.
>>721018740Hellgate London.
>>721052279well the list of Star Wars games that have much in the way of their own unique story is not that deep. Many are just movie adaptation games, or shooters or strategy games, that maybe give something of a narrative attempt between stages of just fps gameplay against bots.It wasn't terrible, the 501st Vader's Fist legion and all.. but I did forget one other good written game, Repubic Commando, a shooter but a purely single player story focused one of course that one would have good writing. Pretty immersive game for its time.
>>721019594Same. The DS version of the sequel is good too.
>>721046143>>721045704The DS version of TFU2 is actually pretty fun.
>>721018740that and pic related, both nice edgekino power fantasy
shame the game is kilhad a lot of fun with it
>>721045704Wii version was the best because you could do the force choke by pressing the C button and actually mimicking the motion with the nunchuck. The extra bosses that the "bigger" console release never got were just the icing on the cake
>>721055873yeah, twisting to choke, and pushing to push, gripping things and moving them around and flinging to the side and letting go.Was was one of the games that made the most sense to be on the Wii.
Extremely fun game tbdesu, got it for like 5 bucks I think. If I were actually a metal gear fan and didn't just play the series for MGO then I would be pissed because this game actually fuckin sucks, but I enjoyed it.
>>721052279So you’re saying that TFU most authenticity recreates the feel of a star wars movie?
>>721055814Wait what? What happened?
>>721018740>MidThe zoomer holocaust can't happen soon enough
>>721032406>and I 100% it about once every other year.The game's like 3 years old
>>721056203i would really like to play this game, it seems like something I'd enjoy or at the very least see first hand why everyone hates it. But there's no crack for it, which I assume it's because it's online only?
>>721058336I think people hated it so much because they were already disappointed with MGSV then they drop this meme survivalslop game. It's not really terrible on its own but I can definitely see why it put a bad taste in people's mouths. I really don't think it's worth more than like 5-10 dollars though. Idk why keys are so expensive now but you're not really missing out on much unless you just like MGSV gameplay that much and wanted more to do with it.
>>721018740>>721019594I liked the ds version when I was a lad. I can't remember shit about it except the yellow lightsaber and the edginess
>>721056203This game is a fuck ton of fun with a full group. Problem is there are like four maps grand total?
fuck this triple nigger and his bullshit
>>721051964Didn't the PSP version somehow have the most content?
>>721058654It did. It had all the content the other last gen versions had, plus extra missions where you played through scenes from the movies (complete with cutscenes and voice acting) and a horde mode.
>>721019594I remembered the ps2 version as so.e hidden gem dmc lite but I played both versions recently and theyre not that different
