I really liked Rogue Trader, as well as the Pathfinder games. Would have loved to see something like that set in VTM, although it would have needed to shift focus a bit more into non-combat. I just don't think VTM is VTM without combat either.

I will eventually play it because I have a soft spot for vampires. But the gameplay looks just plainly not great. Not necessarily bad, but it looks like more like an AA action game similar to Robocop than a blockbuster RPG. Which I can do, but I will do it in 2 years for $40 with all DLC bundled in.

I expect it's difficult to bob-and-weave with standard melee hits against a half-dozen enemies. To keep your blood supply consistent, you probably need to be careful who you actually kill in an "arena" encounter. When feeding, it's a gay "stand in place" glory kill, which gives enemies time to move in, and I'm not sure if you're immune to damage while feeding.I suspect telekinesis is the "missing ingredient", and the shitters are just not using it. You can use it to grab weapons out of enemies hands, then lob them back (or fire them, in the case of guns). Free ranged damage! Also weakens the enemy you stole the weapon from! You can also TK corpses, so you can probably use those as meat shields while approaching enemies with guns.tl;dr: I think this is mostly games journalists being games journalists, but I can see the system taking some getting used to.
