Why can't the steam deck competitors just stop making expensive ass devices? nobody wants to spend 1k on a handheld.
if a game is not on steam, i will not play it.
Stupid people are spec chasing and overcharging a niche despite the handheld niche being fucking retarded to spec chase for.
>>721127292They ship with SteamOS now.>>721127110Do what I did - buy used.
>>721127530>W11lmol
>>721127530I'll buy a refurbished steam deck OLED as soon as I they are fucking available. I tried buying an used Steam deck but people really think they can sell their used garbage with 0 warranty at the same rate as steam can.
>>721127110Retardation. They don't understand the market they are trying to compete in. Nobody want an expensive handheld that isn't comfortable to play and has weak battery life among other issues like fucking desktop windows that need minutes to launch a game.
>>721127604You can install SteamOS officially.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-swcUAle1IQhttps://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/65B4-2AA3-5F37-4227
>>721127110>just 200 dollars over the top tier deck>completely curb stomps itThe superior handheld consoles are here, quit coping.
>>721127110Valve can sell these things at a loss because they'll profit later from steam sales. Really like my deck, set up a moonlight streaming on my main pc and it's working great, almost no latency. Sadly rumors have it deck 2 comes out in 2028.
Love my deck but I want an Xbox Ally X for all the shit I can't do on a deck or is a pain in the ass to do. Stuff like GZdoom, Mod Organizer, or installing old games from iso files
>>721127894>No trackpadsJust another dogshit handheld that is unusable in most pc games
I don't know why they put so much into the panels. Wow, you put a 1440p 144hz display on a handheld, that'll look great with all the games running at 30-50fps at 1080p or less.
>>721127110Nobody else has a multi-billion dollar game storefront to subsidize the hardware
>>721127961>moonlightIs it better than steam link? I tried to do remote play to a really nice OLED tablet I have but it looked like shit.
>>721127894This gives you 2 hours battery life max if you push it above steam deck graphically.
>>721128096It is, but needs some setup. Works great on the same network
>>721127110They're spec chasing instead of just supporting what they put out. Valve showed them how to do this and they're still fucking up.
>>721128096Yeah, it's better if you have nvidia gpu. Try the sunshine fork, I'm playing black myth wukong on 100mbps wifi and it works great. Sadly steam deck doesn't support av1 so you have to encode at x265.
>>721128102>wanting to play more than 2 hours at a time>wanting to play more than 2 hours at a time on a fucking handheldnot a sex haver issue, incel.
>>721128174>>721128096Very easy if you use Apollo + Moonlight,
>>721128102So 30 minutes under the steam shit and pushing almost double the frame rate for $200 extra? Sounds good to me, also are you in the middle of the pacific ocean that being away from an outlet is a such a huge issue to you?
>>721128547Apollo? I use sunshine and it works good enough. Is apollo better?
>>721128626So much better. It creates a virtual desktop that doesnt require you to turn on your monitor/tv to initate the stream.
Yea, I just want a decent handheld with at least 3 hours of battery life in demanding games and 7 hours in less demanding games, at $400 or less.I even got a 64 GB LCD Deck on sale for $320 because I'm not interested in spending a lot on a handheld.I miss when handhelds were $100-$200 at launch, what fucking maniac is spending almost $1000 on a fucking handheld?
>>721127110The steamdeck is old and busted already, even Nintendo is pissing on it, and when Valve finally release a new version it won't be as cheap again
>>721127110They can't, they keep using laptop grade chips in them while needing to sell at a profit. Valve made a custom APU made and optimized for handheld gaming and can subsidize the price due to how successful Steam is. Steam Deck 2 will be the cheapest most affordable PC handheld in 2028, not even Microsoft's Magnus APU will be able to compete with it.
>>721128567>pushing almost double the frameLol, sounds like buyer's remorse. Also you can get used deck for $350.
>>721128195We have some good news, AMD is getting tired of doing this so things will most likely get better in 2028 because of the Steam Deck 2's custom APU, the PS6 Canis APU, and the modular Xbox Magnus APU with the Magnus being modular to be used in desktop devices and low-powered devices so we'll end up with better more optimized experiences since AMD is no longer making random chips for PC handhelds and only care about custom and semi-custom APUs now made for handhelds now.
>>721129181>it won't be as cheap againWant to bet?
>>721129181Lol no it isn't, the deck still shits all over any console. And one of the biggest points of the deck is to be affordable, so yes it will be. It's why valve didn't raise the price using tariffs as an excuse while everyone else did.
>>721127110Because OP the deck is the weakest pc handheld. It sets the bar to the ground. All the other ones are pricey because they have real hardware in them. They gpd win 5 has a desktop cpu on it. You think its a toy what does that the deck a leapfrog?
>>721130082Nigga you can't speak english
>>721130082Oh look its the gpd win 5 running at near 60w playing wukong at 160fps.>inb4 chinkshitLol 160fps>it will break in an hour!!!LOL>hmmm deck is still better100w kek
>>721130254Who is speaking? Are you that retarded you don't know this isn't speech but text? Man, perchance I need a break from the niggerfaggots here.perchance.
>>721130273>$1000 for a chinkheld
>>721127894>just 200 dollarsso just a huge fucking amount that is a deal breaker
I own a Deck and a Rog Ally XI will absolutely spend $1k + on a hobby I enjoy.
>>721128245>>721128174>>721128547Holy shit... what's the point of buying a steam deck this is so good, maybe I should buy a retroid with a nice screen and stream my PC.
>>721130082>weakest pc handheldNot true.
>>721130273>Oh look its the gpd win 5>Starting at $1400Oh look, it's me completely ignoring the gpd win 5.
someone needs to make a handheld that >has the cheapest ass low resolution 720p 60hz screen they can get>has a cheap-ass APU that can only run low-end games or games 10+ years old>is below $100
>>721127110It could be $1 and I won't buy it, unless it has haptic trackpads.
>>721130906Oh look it is a retard who thinks the deck is still a better deal. You will cling to this dogshit handheld toy forevere like a parasite in gaben's fat gut.
>>721130273I can play Wukong as fullspeed at max settings on my Deck, because I have Geforce Now.
>>721127879You're still paying for the Windows tax.
>>721130412And a nipnong chingchong to you too, Pooh.
>>721131153I am not paying $1400 for a fucking handheld, kill yourself.
>>721130875Steamdeck has superior feel. Trackpads and whole build quality is the dealbreaker for such thing. You wouldn't want to play on esperanza gamepad tier handheld buttons
>>721131231Turn off your wifi.
>>721131325Im glad to know you chose to waste moments of your life that bears weight, and I mean actual real weight, to respond to me. I have suffered here since 2003. You are here forever wasting away just like me. Welcome friend.
>>721127110got my eck
>>721131339You will cry tears of joy when the $1,600 deck is announced. The amount of listerine being bought that day will be wild. >k-k-kill yourself baka ; _ ;Lol
>>721131067You cannot get that below 100$. You need a small chip that fits into the handheld, and you need a battery that lasts at least an hour in old games. Old chip is not going to make since power efficiency and size of chip. You also need somewhat high quality gamepad things. Not possible to fit all this under 100$
>>721131614honestly with lossless scaling and power tools and just about everything that exists after its been in the market long enough to have all the support it has I can adamantly say whenever the next iteration is released I'll be buying it. I've been pushing to see what it can really do, and I have Bloodborne playing at 60fps. REmake4 playing at 70fps, and testing other shit right now I didn't think was possible not including all the emulation, and customized modlists I am running. I can play tendie games too, and even have their tendie motion controls depending on what kind of setup I'm utilizing to game. The catch? Setting everything up sucks, and I'd cry if my deck shitted itself, because having to reintegrate everything back on it would be insane. I'm going to have to back it up. I also have a dual boot going. It's amazing. It's what I thought Sony would eventually do with the PSP, just way smaller.
>>721131287Im buying used, my homie. >>721130875I actually use Apollo + Moonlight on my Vita to play Death Stranding when doing deliveries.
>>721131347I mostly play JRPGs and read visual novels to be honest.
>>721131837Should emphasize this is because of special patches, along with Lossless Scaling for games that normally would not run efficiently on deck.
>>721131837It's pretty crazy how versatile the deck is and how it keeps getting better.
>>721131875>>721130875Sorry - forgot to attach a photo.
>>721131961I have the SD and been seeing the Lossless things here and there - but no idea how to go about setting it up. The LEGO V1 Z1X arrives next week so not sure if it's even worth taking the SD through those steps or maybe it's worth it to do it on the LEGO and boost performance even more there.
>>721130593>huge fucking amount Get a real job broke ahh bum.
Any chance they'll do a steam deck sale on the autumn sale?
>>721130273Wow that impressive, steamie shills are coping hard ITT, even the switch has better hardware lol.
>>721130593>so just a huge fucking amount that is a deal breakerI will never understand people complaining about spending money for their hobby. I love cooking so I have a $475 Vitamix and thousands of Le Creuset and All Clad, tens of thousands worth of fishing gear. >muh $200 Do you even like video games?>>721132434Probably not Autumn, but wouldn't be surprised if they did one for the holidays.
>>721132090it's great but it's so fucking big and i am a really big guy. it doesn't hurt me, but it hurts my heart that i can't put it in my pocket. it's basically my PC though. connect it with an hdmi, and i have TV, movies, youtube, and can get work done when I'm not intensely gaming off a big screen. The second iteration should be ULTRA mobile. I'd pay for that.
>>721132251it's probably one of the easiest setups you can get going. you have to buy it, and then go to the github, and install it. it's for games that you want to run at 60FPS or higher, but can really only run at around 20-30FPS on deck when you have cranked settings. It boosts it, and you have a 60FPS game. I keep my settings at x2 anything else, and it gets glitchy. You just copy paste the scaling settings into your launch options through the Decky plugin options menu. You need Decky, and to C+P whatever is in the github into your konsole. That's what I mean about having to have a triple digit IQ if you own a Deck. You can really only max it out and make it do crazy shit if you have a brain. MGS4 is really close to running on steam deck. It has stable FPS at 60, but the catch is the audio is fucked up in-game. It's the ultimate "console" "PC" whatever you want to call it. Mobile MGS4 soon when RPCS3 gets slightly better.
>>721132810RPCS3 without motion controls blocks you out of games. Unless you use an external controller which completely defeats the purposes of a handheld. As far as I know the Deck CAN support it but needs something on the lower end to get jt working.
>>721130273if these are those consoles that looks like PSPs they're really cool, but they're also chinkshit so no aftermarket, no RMA, and sketchy manufacturing.
>>721132810Got it! Thanks for the info - Ill check it out once the LEGO comes in and see how it pans out. Aliens and Sniper would greatly benefit from it
>>721132090For me it's just how much the community supports it and then you also have Valve's backend supporting it even further. Decky Loader is just a great idea, you have solutions to having other launcher set up for you like Junk Loader I think it was, and then EmuDeck makes the emulation side of things carefree. Everything is seamless, you have access to basically everything on PC in an easy form, and if you absolutely need to troubleshoot it's easy to do so. I really can't wait for the Steam Deck 2 because the only thing keeping me from getting an SD1 is the 800p, I just want 1080p and I will be gravy.
>>721133021>RPCS3 without motion controls blocks you out of gamesWait I am so confused. I play AC4A, Nier, and DeS all the time on my Deck without any issues. MGS4 for me just has some slight audio issues that could potentially very easily be fixed with an RPCS3 update. NOW getting motion controls going on RPCS3 for No More Heroes is something I HAVEN'T done yet. I have those on Yuzu, and just play like it's a controller. I also have MH:Generations Ultimate with online going with a special Ryujinx build. A lot of everything with this handheld involves specially preparing certain games especially if they have online capability, or known emulation issues. I had to extensively patch Bloodborne before playing it on my Deck.
>>721133108>Control>Ore no nigga-chan
>>721127894nigger I payed $280 for mine off of steam. but I installed a 1tb m.2 so realistically it was $330. that shits fucking over priced
>>721131837Show me actual proof of this mystical 60 fps in shadps4 and re4make AND post the settings on the deck. My gpd win 4 runs Bloodborne at 60fps at 1080p native. Here is a windowed video to also prove im not on wifi. Now show me yours.
>>721133369okay give me a sec I am kinda retarded with videos and stuff so I am going to use my phone show the FPS counter on my deck and just play the game and move around and stuff? the catch for the steam deck is IT HAS TO BE PLUGGED IN if you're not charging it, the thing gets an hour, and a half of gameplay with Bloodborne using lossless. By the way vid stuff is going to take a second.
>>721133049What are even talking about? It is all normal shit under the hood, and what kind of weird midget-ass ssd does a deck have? These comments about chinkshit all have to be from one person or a bot. Mine is well built i have no issues. I even repasted it and its even better. And i had to take like 8 screws out, all phillips screws same head. There is an RMA if you buy from Amazon or a reseller my god this place.
>>721133485You dont have to believe you im just being an ass.
>>721133485That's cause the SD battery is garbage.
I have a PSP and a laptop, there's not a single reason for me to buy a deck. Most people have phones and a laptop, the deck is a redundant device and there's a reason it barely sold.
>>721133753you know what, yeah it kinda is a lil garbo, but it's not THAT bad.
>>721127110YOU HAVE TO PAY THE WINDOWS TAX GOY! YES EVEN IF YOU WANT TO INSTALL BAZZITE!
>>721132543check your privilege
>>721133707>>721133753https://streamable.com/8l855xIt's not perfect, but it's playable, and above 30fps, and it's fun.
>>721133753>>721133917Its perfect for me, I travel a lot on the weekends and my usual flight is about 55 minutes long. Even with delays I have an Aanker powerbank which can extend it to 2.
>>721134064yeah you do kinda need a powerbank with this thing. it's not the worst thing. if they made a decent cover for the deck that also housed a power bank, but allowed a kick stand to still be in the back that'd be great. might just velcro a mini powerbank behind my deck, but I've heard some powerbanks can actually really mess with the Deck's battery?
>>721134021>Shit deck can only play 20 year old games at 40fpsLMAO
>>721133845I like watching TV while I game. That might sound weird, but some games have naturally started to feel like they SHOULD be like that. I sometimes play GZ, or TPP, and having the tapes play in the background while I look at shitposts is infinitely more entertaining than sitting in front of a screen only listening to the tapes. Also easy travel computer.
>>721134380it's the emulator at least right now for steamOS. areas take a second to load when you first get in and then it's stable. this only applies to certain areas in the game, and that was one of them.
>>721134064>>721134021Oh you dont have to tell me - as a father Im lucky if I get 2-3 hours of time to play at all. So a 1-2 hour session is more than perfect for me, especially on the deck as I get to play from bed. Lately I've been mostly using Moonlight since I can stream from the gaming PC that can max out al games and stream at 60fps with little to no noticeable input lage ( was playing Control yesterday with zero issues streamed from my PC)
>>721134162I don't even bother securing the bank, I have a USB C cable running to it and it stays in my bag. I havent noticed any battery issues using one but it will depend on what game you're playing and the demand to run it but I've had my Deck since launch and have been using the powerbank ever since and haven't noticed any issues with the on-board battery
>>721134486moonlight is a really smart option if you want to really max out everything and game with consistent FPS. not a bad choice at all if you have the money more of a flex. Basically shits on the Playstation Portal.
SHOW ME YOUR DECK /V/
>>721132543It feels like the Oled Deck is supposed to get a $50 price cut by now. However, the price of newer released handhelds are far from competing with the Deck, Valve probably won't have to budge, price wise. Then again, if they want adoption momentum to continue for two more years until a Deck 2 arrives, they should probably shave $50 off the current Decks each year.
>>721134572I have Chiaki (if I remember the name correctly) and stream my PS5 to the SD as well lmao
Just borrowed the steamdeckWhat to play first?
>>721134832>blackwe know you paid for that with your hard earned money picking fruit the illegals refused to pick don't lie to us
There is not even one (single player) game worth playing that the steam deck cannot run at 60+ fps. It is the perfect gaming device because it inherently protects you from modern slop and encourages wanton piracy and emulation.
>>721127110I don't think understand people's grievances with Windows on a handheld. I've had two windows handhelds now and launching games and moving around files is easy.
>>721134832>borrowedYou did this on purpose!Anyway, play Driver.
>>721127530>ONE (1) TRACKPADChinks are slowly learning but still>NO SECOND TRACKPADLMAO.The only advantage one of those chinkshits had was copying the Switch's breakaway controllers, but they still had>NO TRACKPADSSo it blew ass.Maybe that one evolves and gains the Switch 2's mouse-mode on both, that would be a huge boon versus the Deck. Especially if Steam Controller API for menus on the trackpads could be used with it.
>>721135160>>721134914That's incredibly racist and unnecessary.Do you mean the original Driver? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1uXLc87K8A
>>721135261I dont use trackpads on my Steamdeck, even when I mostly play turn based tactical games. I just dont find them comfortable at all - sliding my thumb all over when I can use thumbsticks,
>>721131352I am wired through USB4 to ethernet
