I'd argue the pancakes slip up in P5 even had more substance since the fault comes from just not knowing who said it since it wasn't like he was even aware of the cat by that point in time. Hell my biggest critique of SMT is that Atlus made great stories and shit like Nocturne was painfully dry on dialog or proper narrative. Sure its a full story I guess but you can't give much of a shit about the other reason characters since they don't exist for 95% of the game and just have 2-3 sentence statements when they do show up and get their undeserved power-ups. Meanwhile Digital Devil Saga 1-2 had a lot of narrative beats and it was fucking kick ass (although the random encounters were a bit higher than I'd like for ps2 era megaten).

The Apathy Syndrome was so obvious you could figure it out instantly, compared to the fog thing, which was way more nuanced.If you mean from the worldbuilding perspective - not everything has to be world-ending threat. I enjoyed the smaller scale and lower stakes of the story. Putting world in constant peril on the hands of some psychosphere manipulating aliens or the personification of destructive nature of humanity wears you off. Let the audience deal with a divorced pair of gods trying to screw each other and making it some small town's problem.

Even Nine which is the only game that I'd argue needs some sort of re-release since it is fucking buggy to emulate happens after shit went down globally.
