I loved Hollow Knight Silksong, but my only real complaint is that the movement still just doesn't feel as good as the Megaman X and Zero games, nor do the hit reactions really.

This is wrong and it's weird you posted X4, as Silksong has a similar dash input but improved because it has no start up frames and its not meant to be absent-mindedly held down all the time. Obviously both Hollow Knight and Silksong control better, have a lot more complex movement, and more precise platforming. In the Zero games you usually can't even see upcoming platforms or obstacles due the terrible hardware its on and inti being terrible developers, and the levels are accordingly very simple and boring.

I know it's probably intentional because the devs wanted more commitment and thought to go into player decision but it just feels like shit. why is every modern game trying to shoe horn souls slop into their game. not everything is better with trial and error gameplay and dumb save stations placed minutes before a boss fight which requires you to do several times in order to learn the boss pattern. a metroidvania game is about exploration and atmosphere and not about combat and parries lol. this feels like the 2000's when every fucking game tried adding in wow/rpg elements into their games and later on when games tried being more like skyrim/gta with open world game designs. its all so tiresome.

I'm just not a jaded hipster that gets thinking points, purely from here. If not a parry, you'd probably complain about a dash or a roll, if not the boss room placements, it'd be enemy HP or something.
I don't ascribe to retard rhetoric, I simply play the game and assess, I haven't touched Silksong yet, but HK is fine, it feel alright to pilot the knight around. A silverlining I can meet you at, is the map can be too big for its own good.

What's wrong with a game having an emphasis on score attack? You can completely ignore it if you want, its only real purpose is to make getting equipment faster and so you can hear idol music. I think it's implemented very well, and it adds a lot to how you play the game, especially with how it interacts with checkpoints.

Scoring does nothing outside of score. In a good game its tied with gameplay mechanics. For example, in Daioujou it's a method for both gaining extends and filling your hyper meter, which layers into bees which also fill your hyper meter. All kudos does in gunvolt is give you cinematic ironic weeb attacks.

I've realized I enjoy games like Megaman, Metroid, and Cavestory because they are shooters and I dislike close-combat melee in games. I mean it's fine when Zero has both the gun and sword but JUST a sword would be awful.

It's perfectly fine for a game to have scoring mechanics, but ideally a game is fun or interesting beyond chasing after those high scores. Gunvolt's problem for me is that it doesn't really push you to play better unless you're specifically aiming to get better score, which is not helped by the bland level design.

Yes it does. If you play x4 right now and mash a directional you'll see the movement is not as fluid as me doing it in the silksong webm. This is because the dash input has start up frames.

This will be my last response then. It literally has input eating start up frames, and not only this but it makes tap dodging impossible, which means the game cannot have the density of enemies and projectiles Silksong does. Because it's less precise.
