Dude got scammed
>>
It's not like they're going to crack the cases to verify the authenticity
>>
>>721176362
what's a public service announcement slab?
>>
The fuck is a PSA slab?
>>
>>721176362
I mean he kinda did the right thing lol

Video games are meant to be played, trading cards CAN be a cool display art piece but the slabbing is just obsession you can't use those.
>>
>>721176794
psa is a grading company for trading cards and stuff
>>
>>721176362
>$3,095
that seems like a very small amount for 126 graded cards
>>
>>721176362
So retard finally realized he got scammed when he graded all his cards? Nobody gave a shit and fell for a meme. So the tard went and got scammed at gamestop instead? Bravo. Welp, nobody was buying his shit anyways, so at least we got a switch 2 lol and some games. He couldve done worse imo.
>>
>>721176362
>Switch 2

Poor guy doesn't know
>>
>>721176362
he was ripped off.
>>
>>721176362
who the FUCK is trading in anything to gamestop in 2025??
>>
>>721176927
>24 bucks a card
the whole system is wrong, we need more bullying in schools to the point where these faggots kill themselves
imagine the utopia
>>
He probably paid more to get those all graded lmao
>>
It would cost $3150 to send in 126 cards to PSA for grading, assuming you aren't paying them yearly to be in their "collector's club" (then it would only be $2400 plus the membership fee). He got ripped off even worse than it seems.
>>
>>721177307
any older games that have no replay value for me and that I want to be rid off sooner than later. Either gamestop or pawnshops. Trying to get more of the value back is pointless to me beyond stopping me from throwing them away outright.
>>
>>721177307
>at Gamestop yesterday, whole place smelled like toxoplasma
>wait in line because the counter guy (who was causing the smell) put in the lady before me's info in wrong
>pick up my Trails pre-orders
>really pushed hard on getting me on a membership saying it was only $10 when I kept saying no because he was "just trying to save me money"
FUCKING Gamestop
>>
>>721176362
Should have spent that money on a gym membership, a haircut and better clothes.

oH NO NOOO HE TRADED HIS CARDSSS NOOO

WHAT A DUMB BEARASS HE COULD SELL THEM TO TYRON AND GET ROBBED OR PLAY WITH THEM UNTIL OLD AGE

My friend decide to sold his ps5 and got shot by buyer.
>>
Forget about the switch 2, the money alone isnt worth it. He got scammed
>>721176646
PSA wont encase it if its fake
>>721177470
noooo dont kill urself we love u
>>
>>721176498
yeah, by PSA. Guarantee you anything it's just bulk commons/foils that are worth maybe $5 cause of the funny plastic shell that he paid $10 for. If anything, making it gamestop's problem is the smartest thing he could have done since at least it let him cut his losses all at once instead of praying he could piecemeal it over the next five years on ebay.

not even getting into how these grading companies are notoriously full of shit (I'm still not over that story about the blatantly fake test cards one of them graded and slabbed for auction)
>>
>>721178591
>PSA wont encase it if its fake
How do you know something is a genuine PSA?
>>
>>721177795
>went last year
>walk inside, soiboy manning the counter talking to three 60+ year old women
>the moment i walk in all of them turn and scowl at me
>think they're in line buying something for their grandkids or whatever, stand behind them and wait
>after five minutes of conversation they look back at me again and ask what i want
>apparently these grandmas were literally just here casually chatting to this soiboy in gamestop
>one of them has a toddler running around the store ripping headphones off the wall and throwing them
Never going back
>>

He traded his cards for store credit for a business on the verge of bankruptcy.

cancer killing the scene for Pokemon Collectors and Magic Trannies
>>
>>721176362
$3,095 / 26 = $24.56 per card. That's low, and barely covered the grading fee and shipping.
>>
I have no clue what PSA Slabs are. The guy is a fat slob though.
>>
>>721180529
It's a grading thing for card collectors. At this point it's nothing but investor trannies sending their cards to get put in a slab of plastic with a very very subjective rating between 1-10 and if you can get a 9 or 10 you can sell it to other retards for hundreds or thousands depending on the card. Oh and if you get a 10 for an expensive card that's worth $2k+ you won't get the slab back unless you pay PSA 10% of the value on top of what you already paid to get it graded.
>>
>pic related is a rare, one-of-a-kind card
>is somehow worth less than some fucking pokemon card that has a pikachu with a pen
THAT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE ANY SENSE.
>>
>>721180767
It started in the 90s with baseball cards, then evolved into Magic, Pokemon, and all sorts of other cards. Having something "certified" artifically inflates the shit out of the value, which is why people do it.

>>721176362
Joke's on him. Switch 2 will have no gaems.

>>
>>721181537
for compfags, because it isn't allowed in tournaments
for "investors" because they're either hype beasts or think these chunks of cardboard that everyone else is hoarding will somehow skyrocket in value. sure maybe if they were smart enough to buy older stuff, but they're stalking and harassing grocery stores to get the latest releases just like everyone else. there's gonna be a lot of bag holders in a few years when this craze finally dies out (if OP's image isn't an example of it already happening)
for casual players? they do, if they realize it's an option.
>>
>>721181764

>Go to EB Games to pick up my copy of MGS Delta.
>Two people in front of me at the counter. A forty-something year old woman and a teenage boy.
>Woman asks if they have any Pokemon cards.
>Counter lady says she's only got battle decks.
>Woman leaves.
>Teenage boy steps up and asks if they have any Pokemon cards.
>Counter lady once again repeats, we've only got decks.
>He leaves.
>Set up, and say I'm here for a pre-order.
>Scans my card, tells me about their membership program and how you can get Pokemon cards cheaper.
>"No thanks, I'm not into Pokemon cards"
>Tell me they're collecting for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Depending on how much I give, I can go into the draw to win a Pokemon card prize pack.
>Fine, whatever. $5.
>Gives me the receipt and instructions on how to redeem the code online to go into the draw to win the prize pack.
>Start to leave.
>Next guy steps up to the counter.
>"Hey, you guys got any 151?"
>"No, we've only got battle deck stuff".
>>
>>721182439
I work at a corner store and if I had a penny for every time some scalper came in asking if we carry pokemon I could fucking retire. we only have those packs of resealed cards and even those have to be kept behind the counter because it's a high-theft issue. god forfuckingbid when the holidays come around and we get years-old leftover stock of actual packs somebody found in a warehouse. I think one guy unironically spent five hundred dollars just on those.
>>
>>721182714
I've got a friend who works in home entertainment at a department store. All day, every day, "Do you guyz have Pokemon cardz?"
They don't even have decks, they've got absolutely nothing.
When they do get shit in, there's always purchase limits. Doesn't stop people from sending in their mother or girlfriend in straight after they leave the store to buy some more for them.
What a wonderful time to be alive. Where colored cardboard is fucking rationed.
>>
>>721179004
You laugh but that guy was enjoying an aged granny pussy foursome that night
>>
If you're not scalping trading cards you're literally retarded, they've been outperforming all other investments for years now. It's literally free money.
>>
>>721180960
More people care about Pokemon, simple as that
>>
I wouldn't really care if he traded that for real money, but Gamestop store credit is worthless.

It kept them alive during the Wii U era, no joke.
>>
>>721184935
If your plan is to immediately spend it on new consoles/games anyway then it's the better option than straight cash since they only fuck you partway instead of wholeway
trying to bank that for the future is a fool's errand though, yeah

>It would cost $3150 to send in 126 cards to PSA for grading
I hope this is true
>>
If you've ever tried to sell shit piecemeal you'll quickly learn how much it fucking sucks. Basically if I had a bulk lot of something, say 100 figures, and I was selling them individually for $30 a piece online (ebay/marketplace/shipping/etc), and someone offered me $1500 cash, in person, quick and easy for the lot you bet your ass I'd take it.
>>
>didn't even get real money for it
>got store credit
>>
>>721186309
people that see these stories and mock the people involved for dumping bulk either don't know that trying to sell that much shit on ebay is basically a second job at that point, or they actually are resellers like that as their primary job and can't comprehend that not everyone wants to live that miserable life.
>>
>>721176362
Yeah I wish I was as good at scamming people as Gamestop
>>
>>721185328
still better than funko pops at least
but yeah i regret buying the few of them that i have
>>
>>721186686
Or maybe just don't buy worthless garbage that you later will have trouble getting rid of for a fraction of what you paid for it in the first place?
>>
>>721186686
Never sold anything online before, why is it a second job? Does selling the stuff really require that much time out of your day? I really thought it was actually easier to sell shit online because people just come to you, no need to actively advertise.
>>
>>721188824
Depending on what site you choose to sell your goods on, you might have to go through a lengthy verification process. Failing that you'll at least have to build up your reputation and beat any competitors while still turning a profit.

You niggers don't understand that autistic collector shit like this is a huge burden. He's lucky to even break 2k

EBay? Wait months per card and pay 25% fee on every transaction
Facebook marketplace? Get offered peanuts

NOBODY wants this shit. He's lucky he could get out now before the bubble pops and this is in the landfill. He could sit on this for decades before it sold
>>

nobody actually wants the cards the zoomies are just piling more cards into the economy because its epic to open card packs
>>
>>721191360
NTA but it's a niche market. This kind of stuff only has value among people who care and the amount of those people is likely to decrease as the quality of games and merch decreases.

Pikachu has a much broader appeal than Summoned Skull. And way more people know who Pikachu is than Summoned Skull. Or even know what that card is from.
And I wish we got those Asian prize card artworks re-used because they were so cool.
