Art style and good animations are way more important anyway.I don't mind party based but I would definitely like a solo Adol adventure, especially with the skill system that exists now.They stepped away from slowdown dodges and that's for the best but I still disliked the blue attacks you could just run through. Just scrap that system altogether and bring back attacks you have to position yourself correctly to dodge and jump over. They can keep the dodge and air dodge as ways to maneuver and cancel attacks.I like the guard as a concept but it definitely needs a nerf. First of all, bring back shielded Adol for it to feel badass. Second, it doesn't need to do anything more than preventing damage and maybe give an opening for attacks, none of that guaranteed critical hits bullshit. It should also not be possible to chain into itself so multihit attacks would require avoiding in a different way.And bring back more elaborate dungeons with puzzles.

I hate to be that guy, but I want a YS1 and 2 reimagining.It's supposed to be Adol's pivotal adventure and its archaic gameplay and scope really feels dissonant to me.But as far as new games go, I want something which is to Oath in Felghana what Twilight Princess is to ALttP

VIII is still the best game in the series and unmatched in it's adventure vibe. 9 was absolutely awful but X wasn't too bad, wasn't too good either but it was tollerable. Where X lost me was on the shitty rerelease bullshit. Genuinely incredibly pissed off at Falcom for pulling that shit.
ys x sucked. Too bad because I would love to see another good ys after 8, especially with viking theme.
Thinking of picking up the recent Oath rerelease. I've never played it but I got somewhat put off by hearing that you supposedly need to beat the game like 9 times to get everything which is painful to me as a completionist.
