Each mission has a minimum level, if you are above this, they scale up within 3 levels of you. But if you are below this minium, you just get fucked and die, it’s terribly complicated since the minimum level isn’t listed anywhere, and it generally looks like everything scales to you, so people think it’s bugged. But it’s not.You should definitely some side content, especially stuff that gives lots of SDU tokens. But if you want to mega optimal then don’t do all of it, because you ideally don’t wanna hit 50 until credits roll.There’s 1 side mission worth saving until endgame though: the legendary vending machine one.

If anyone else is doing the Vile Bounty grind to 50, there's a very easy way to refresh the bounties. Swap your UVHM level and it forces a reset. Works best if you've got UVHM2 unlocked, but it's still faster than the "quit game and reload" method even if you only have rank 1.

And it was dark, but in a realistic way, “company cuts its losses and just leaves convicts to fend for themselves” is a lot more interesting than “evil space lab super soldier program!”.
