Demanding secure boot is gatekeeping millions of customers like me.

I work at home depot lifting up heavy shit. I don't even operate machinery or fill spreadsheets because I don't know how to do math on Excel. I arrive at 8 AM and often leave near 10 PM with my spine all busted.

When I come home, I want to crack open a cold one, eat my microwave slop, play a videogame and go to sleep. I am a cog in a machine greater than me and just that. I have no friends and no family to help me with my PC (the only valuable thing I ever bought).

So I do not and SHOULD NOT need a computer science degree to play a Battlefield game. I want to press the .exe and have it boot. I refuse to watch a 20 minutes lecture on my little free time to learn how to fuck with my PC's settings and break something. I barely know how to change wallpapers.

These devs are unreasonable and hostile to consumers. I gave up the moment they demanded secure boot from me. This is NOT acceptable.

But isn't secure boot usually on by default?

I just hate everybody these days, but I am not paid to care.

>>721271786
I spent all my spare income to buy a gaming PC and I'm fucking gaming on it. I'm not going to buy a playstation when I have a more expensive rig than a PS5 pro at home. I had people tell me before.

I just don't want to. If I have to mess with my boot settings or whatever the fuck whenever I want to play this one game, I don't play it

It is that simple. BF6 is just one shooter, I can play the competition because they were morons
>>
>>721270798
secureboot isn't the issue, anon
It's the fact that the American government are using these companies to put on kernal level malware to turn your computer into a botnet or actively brick it in the event of a global war

You should stick to your phone, homes.

I work in a small shop in bumfuck small city in Poland and every single time theres big FOMO game coming up that requires Secure Boot we get shit ton of PCs like a lot. We even get bricked ones where CMOS reset or even full bios flash doesnt work somehow so they need to pay for new motherboard lmao. This already happened with BF6 Beta and recently had to go to 5 different houses because people wanted to play Valorant and that league of legends fighting game.
>>
>>721270798
You should learn more about PCs for personal growth, and because it's useful.

Said this, the secure boot requirement is useless and retarded.

There is no doubt in my mind you bought a prebuilt like a retard cause I spent about as much as a ps5 pro for my rig and it ran the beta near perfectly on max settings. Plus if you're too stupid to fiddle with settings why buy a computer to begin with
>>
>>721272485
I don't like the sound of this shit and I don't want to have anything to do with it. If they want me changing settings in my PC to play a game instead of making the game fit to everybody, their already wrong

>>721273000
All anons calling me dumb are probably right, but they are wrong if they think I am alone. a billion ways to brick your PC if you don't know wtf everything is and what has what

People who work physical labor shouldn't need to know how to meddle with their PC settings to know how to play a game.

That is not even controversial to say.
>>
>>721274880
I bought a gaming PC because I mostly play shooters and want mouse controls

I also didn't want to spend extra money buying a personal computer and a console

>>721270798
nice self report, shitskin

any PC built within the past 8 years can run secure boot with 1 setting change in BIOS. If you're having trouble it's because you're a 3rd worlder who hasn't upgraded his mobo since 2010.

Thank you EA for filtering these retards

OP isn't crying because of that though. He'd be perfectly happy if they changed it themselves on launch. He's crying because he's too retarded to change a setting in his bios from false to true. You're an idiot if that's what you took from it and likely just automatically interpret any post that's on your side favorably.
>>

You think a blue collar worker just decides, on a Sunday afternoon a month after the beta test, to post this rant? And he includes phrases meant to denigrate his own intelligence? Calls the food he eats "microwave slop"? You don't think maybe this whole thing is a little bit tongue-in-cheek?
>>
>>721270798
>So I do not and SHOULD NOT need a computer science degree to play a Battlefield game
Which is ironic because someone with a computer science degree would be even less willing to enable secure boot. It's absolute fucking cancer and no educated person would enable it, let alone for a fucking video game.
>>
>>721270798
You are the target audience of consoles.
>>
>>721270798

>>
>>721284415
>I pointed out there were still cheaters
I don't understand why people say this like it means anything anytime a conversation about anticheats comes up. Nobody expects an anticheat to make cheating literally impossible, they just want an anticheat that makes cheating a rare occurrence and practical nonissue. Saying there are cheaters doesn't mean anything unless you're having a hyperbolic argument with a third worlder on /v/.
>>
>>721286549
>It's absolute fucking cancer
Why?
>>
hate to burst your bubble but even newer motherboard doesn't guarantee secureboot
friend had asus motherboard from 2021 that not only had it off by default but it was also not working of you tried to switch it on (bios update was needed)
why would EA expect normies to know any of this is beyond me, I am sure local repair shops appreciate the business though
>>
>>721270798
It's time to move on. These companies don't care about you and their priority isn't your entertainment or making an actually good game.

Unironically install an Arch-based flavor of Linux like Nobara or something. If you can't play it on Linux, it's probably not worth your time anyway.
>>
>>721286527
>And he includes phrases meant to denigrate his own intelligence? Calls the food he eats "microwave slop"?
That sounds an awful lot like he's insulting people for being too dumb to enable it...

I'm just not doing it. And I don't want this to spread to the rest of the gaming industry because it is bullcrap.

I don't know how to do and I'm not going to read or watch a lecture on it because a videogame demanded it.

This is NOT acceptable. They already demand a high end PC to even play their slop, now they want you potentially breaking your only computer so you can play their game a little bit.

I am just not doing it. If they want an antispyware, they probably had options that didn't require secure boot
