Why can't we play directly as best primarch in any of the 4pk games?
>>
>>721380059
It would likely be boring
>>
>>721380059
>Why can't we play directly as best primarch
That's not Khan or Sanguinius tho
>>
>>721380059
Primarch are too OP, it would have to be some kind of boss rush game of Guilliman fighting greater demons, Norn Queens, war bosses, other Primarchs etc. Guilliman is just an extremely smart stronger , faster, and bigger version of a space marine
>>
>>721380059
Isn't he just a politician in armor?
>>
>>721381880
>Isn't he just a politician in armor?
He's unironically hypersonic and he can lift several tons. There's nothing "normal" about the Primarchs. They're all demigods
>>
>>721380059
No mere mortal besides Malcador could run an intergalactic empire full of retarded and paranoid zealots while also being a military commander.
>>
>>721381880
He can survive in space without a space suit and punch through power armor with his fists
>>
>>721381880
He's the closest thing to a protagonist that that franchise will ever.
>>
>>721381880
He's the only guy that's trying to unfuck the Imperium, which is definitely easier said than done.
>>
the only correct type of game for these guys is musou series.
>>
space marines, let alone primarchs, should be only lore entities and never directly involved saved for the rarest and briefest appearances.
this would improve the setting dramatically
being seen as divine beings while also being the only ones adhering to imperial truth and being conflicted every time they do anything would be kino.
the more we know about them the less impactful they are.
I feel like fans have ruined them.
>>
If we play as Sanguinius/Lion/Khan/Vulkan/Horus/Leman then
It will be like Devil May Cry/Metal Gear Rising/Ninja Gaiden. They all use swords as main weapon.

Issue with other Primarchs is that they are not combat focused.
Gulliman here is good statesman, Perty is a mechanical + computer engineer. Dorn is a civil engineer. Ferrus makes weapons. Angron is too retarded to have a game lore accurate. Konrad is punisher+ Batman so maybe. Lorgar is shit. Magnus is a mage so that doesn't work.

You can have games with Primarch but it has to be high stakes where you mostly beat down demons.
>>
>>721380059
>>721385712
40K Musou actually sounds kinda okay
>>
>>721386785
The Imperial Truth was a lie my dude
>>
I just want a game were I can play as my own space marine and go on cool adventures
>>
>>721386796
Konrad game would have been pure cinema, especially if you embrace the Night Haunter and Konrad being two different people angle.
>Nostramo childhood where you Batman your way through endless misery and urban decay
>Navigating his horrific visions of the future
>Manhunt tier executions as he slowly works up the Nostramo scum totem pole in his teenage years
>Seeing the city transform from a crime riddled shithole to an orderly, if terrified place
>Ending the game with the arrival of the Emperor where he speedruns the Horus Heresy in his mind's eye and lets M'shen kill him.
>>
>>721388115
of course the emperor was a retard
im still sympathetic to what he was trying to do and think it would be badass if you had a group of fanatical adherents
>>
>>721388115
>>721388525
also its not really a 'lie', one can theoretically just disbelieve chaos away.
if he had succeeded and managed to make it stick with out underestimating humanities need for diety the imperium would look way better

It isn't, it's an ideology of perspective. It's taking the stance that things like psychic powers, the warp and the entities within it are not "magic" or "gods" but real phenomenon that can be studied, understood and controlled.
Bile is one of its few remaining followers and he is objectively correct. Warp entities, even ones as big as Slaanesh do not possess free will. They are not sapient beings imbued with traits derived of emotion, they are emotions manifest. Slaanesh can never choose to do anything but what it is essentially programmed to do. It's like expecting a rock rolling down a hill to consciously decide to stop, turn left or roll back up.
That doesn't mean it isn't dangerous, or that you can't communicate with it, but it isn't a living thing in any sense of the word. It is as in control of its own actions as that rock.
>>
>>721384002
there's dozens of characters who have novels novels focused on their escapades. Ahriman has 5 books just about him.

there's lots of "main" characters in Warhammer because in a setting at eternal stalemate, every faction has potential to take over the galaxy if they just got that edge

Girlyman probably feels the most protagonisty because he invented the Primaris, the worst thing introduced to the setting
>>
Only cool thing he did was let the Emperor hijack his body while in the garden of Nurgle and burn half of the place to the ground.
>>
>>721390859
This is just predeterminism, the idea that there is no actual randomness in the universe, simply interactions we don't understand and that all actions, thoughts, and anything that happens is a consequence of molecular interactions that were always going to happen. People that belive in this, or belive there is randomness but ultimately anything that happens was going to happen anyway and there is no real free will for anything or anyone.
>>
>>721386785
hard to do that when there's hundreds of space marine legions
i know the universe is big but it would make you think "what the hell have these guys been doing!?"
>>
>>721391513
I personally agree with determinism but the IT isn't that. The IT's main thing is trying to strip away the reverence and mystic aspects of things like psykers, daemons and the warp. It is trying to entirely eliminate the concept of the "supernatural" and all the connotations that come with it. They're a natural phenomenon like any other. The Emperor is essentially trying to get people to stop worshiping warp phenomena in the same way we used to worship phenomena on earth like the sun, weather and oceans. It is only our lack of understanding of these things that makes them seem like unstoppable, insurmountable forces.

Primarchs are gay marvelslop for secondary fans.
>>
>>721386785
Thats how every single franchise works.
SCP was a microcosm speedrun of the effect. Same with backrooms.
Retard fans will always seek to put their stupid bullshit front and center. But it sucks any mystery or intrigue or interest out of the setting. Boiling it down to 3 page wiki articles that have every possible fact and tidbit about everything codified and open.
I don't even truly blame GW for the state of things. I think this is just how every single long running franchise ends up.
>>
>>721380059
Jewdubs made all this lore about the imperium's top dogs and proceeded to adapt none of it
>>
>>721396145
Primaris marines are just "better space marines"
They were effectively made so GW could refresh the marine model line with an in setting excuse. But what actually happened is that they invented "better space marines" then had to go back and make every important character survive the "actually super dangerous and probably won't succeed" primaris upgrade process.

Basically imagine that DC made a new IP and it was called "Better Batman" and it was just Batman but he also had laser eyes and could fly. Thats Primaris.
>>
>>721397010
PrimarchGODS run this franchise, cuck
>>
>>721396589
>he wants the shitters that work at the sock puppet corpse of CA to make a 40k game on their shit engine
you really don't. wait for someone to come along and make a fan game at some point in the future. it'll actually be good and made by someone or people that actually like 40k.
>>
>>721397475
>he also had laser eyes and could fly. Thats Primaris.
More like, he's slightly taller and has a couple of new tricks that he never really ends up using.
>>
Necrons and their lore is the only interesting thing about this setting.
>>
Isn't he only kept alive by his armor because he got so fucked up by Fulgrim?
>>
>>721398479

Yeah. I can tell.
>>
>>721397475

>>
>>721398903
Originally yes, but I believe they fixed that later on.
>>
>>721380059
They're too powerful for it to even be a challenge or fun
It'd be like getting the Force Commander unit from Dawn of War, giving him the combined health pools of every epic unit in the game, giving him attacks that deal good damage against all unit and building types, and then giving him double speed and no morale penalty
Plus spammable abilities depending on the type
>>721381880
The books are very fucky about Primarch power level and each one is different too
Fulgrim regrew a foot and survived a sniper round to the face, but Roboute could have been killed by a single fucking bolter round, and then Lorgar survived a fucking titan shooting him with its hellstorm plasma cannon, but then Roboute held his breath in the vacuum of space for like an hour also with his head exposed to space, and then Vulkan is killed a thousand times because he regenerates so naturally he gets no plot armor at all, and then Fulgrim is tossing around psychic blasts and ripping apart buildings no problem, Ferrus Manus got his head cut off from a single blow, blah blah
It's impossible to properly display their power levels in media and especially video games
Think like that one webm from Dark Souls III where they sped up Gundyr and you're close to how it would look
Just about the only thing primarchs are weak to is male pattern baldness
>>
>>721380059
Which Primarch will return next? Awhile ago, some people were saying it was going to be Rogal Dorn.
>>
>>721403470
They're going to reveal one of the mission ones and they'll be a female primarch and only produced female space marines
These would be able to breed new space marines which went against the emperors design that humans would rule and space marines would eventually be discarded like the tool they were
He had to kill her and the other primarch because they'd began breeding each other and their marines
So anyway they'll bring her back and she'll have the super knowledge that's greater than even the emperor and his sons gained from her time in isolation
>>
>>721403754
>>
>>721403359
Vulkan can't die because he's a Perpetual like the emperor, you can vaporize him but eventually he'll just pop back up somewhere else, none of the remaining primarchs seem to be Perpetuals just Vulkan so he directly inhereted that trait from the emperor.

>Fulgrim regrew a foot
was he corrupted by chaos at this point? You said "foot" so he wasn't a snake demon back then

I think that applies to all human primarchs, given the round hits the spot
>Lorgar survived a fucking titan shooting him with its hellstorm plasma cannon
Daemon Prince Lorgar?

Anyway, I just got back from a trip to an actual European country and brought with me 3 novels. Namely Assassinorum, The Infinite and the Divine and Leviathan. I'm about half way through Leviathan. Any tips for next ones after those 3? I think I'll try ordering somewhere online if they're not expensive. I heard Horus Rising is great but I don't know if I should go back that far back, If I did I'd get my autism want to do this chronologically and just start the Horus Heresy which is like 50 novels and that'd take forever.

Lorgar's primary sin was being slow. The worlds he conquered were obscenely loyal, but his legion was moving significantly slower than the other legions due to Lorgar's desire to spend time building up the worlds he'd conquer rather than taking a planet and moving on. The Emperor wasn't stoked on his worship, and mercilessly castigated him for it publicly, but he would have ultimately tolerated it for the duration of the Crusade had Lorgar been speedier with his work. Sad!
>>
>>721381880
I mean, the guy inexplicably has to figure out why the imperium of man has a skull economy, but he is also literally the greatest ablebodied warrior they have. I actually like that about space marine lore. They're halfway mythological to the average Imperial citizen, but the reality is they're just a bunch of quasi-autonomous paramilitaries with absolutely ludicrous warmaking capability but no real organizational structure beyond the individual chapters capable of pointing it anywhere useful other than cleaning up after everything's already beyond fucked. They're awe-inspiring to the people of the Imperium, but they're completely ineffectual and kind of goofy from a bird's-eye view, and that's the privileged position we get to look at their world from.

>He snatches you away on the eve of what would've been your final stand, leaving you with the painful knowledge that everyone you loved died while you "abandoned" them
>Everyone on your planet calls you a failure and a coward
>The Emperor wants you to enslave millions of planets
>Your own legion thinks you're a failure because you're the only Primarch that didn't conquer his planet
It's literally not fair

Aaand another example of how marineswank ruined cool concepts like Chaos
>>
>>721416610
All sympathy for Angry Ron's tragic backstory goes out the window when he orders the World Eaters to Butchers Nails themselves. It would be one thing if he said nothing while they mutilated themselves in an attempt to connect to their broken father. Angry Ron hates the Nails as much as he hates himself, and he still gave the order personally. That's a Primarch level dick move.
>>
>>721416887
>when he orders the World Eaters to Butchers Nails themselves
It makes more sense when you realize Angron hated the Emperor, the Imperium, and even his legions. He never wanted to be a conqueror and oppressor like his slavers were, but the Emperor forced him to fight and conquer in his name.
Angron lobotomizing his army was done out of spite. There's a line in one of the books where Angron says he would've even without chaos or the nails fucking with his mind.
So Angron sabotaging his sons, as evil as if was, was really a fuck you to the Emperor, a way to cripple a part of the Emperor's armies.
>That's a Primarch level dick move.
100% he's still evil. His motives just make sense when you put them in context.
>>
>>721416610
Almost everything about angron's backstory is fucking stupid and needs to be rewritten. Preferably by someone who isn't ADB.
>>
>>721417592
>Almost everything about angron's backstory is fucking stupid and needs to be rewritten.
Why?
The concept of an empathetic healer being broken and turned into an insane berserker who can't even think clearly is a really cool concept imo. He's one of the biggest what ifs in the series simply because he could change so much in the plot if he wasn't mentally broken before the Emperor found him. The dude could literally take away mental pain with the powers he lost from his torture. That could've saved some of his brothers from falling. Or maybe he could've rebelled early because of his empathy and gotten himself and his sons killed? There's so many different ways his story could've gone if he wasn't fucked over from the start.
It's also kino how the Eldar created a self fulfilling prophecy. They tried to kill baby Angron to prevent him from becoming a Daemon Lord. But their actions ironically damned and put him on the path to becoming one. Because if the Eldar hadn't intervened, then Angron would've been strong enough to conquer his planet like the other primarchs did. More importantly, Angron wouldn't have had the nails, which means it would've been impossible for him to become a Daemon Lord of Korne.
>>
>>721417860
It's a neat concept but the actual execution of it was pretty bad. Particularly everything that happens once emps appears.

>Angron somehow taking out a bunch of eldar despite being literally seconds old
>was then raised as a gladiator but kept trying and failing to escape from a bunch of regular humans as a fully grown demigod
>was also somehow knocked out and implanted with the nails despite the above
>led a rebellion but failed despite etc.
>then the emperor arrives to save angron but leaves all of his comrades to die for no reason
>let's the slavemasters who turned angron into a rage monster keep ruling the planet
>declares angron a "failure" but let him take charge of a legion knowing full well what he would subject his astartes to and the billions of humans he'd slaughter as a daemon prince
>and somehow couldn't remove the butchers nails when he fucking made angron and possessed god like psychic power
>>
>>721417860
>Why?
>khorne's chosen champion
>is a whinning crybaby
Geee I wonder why
>>
>>721419191
For your first few points, Primarchs aren't normal babies in the pod. Curze also had his burrow into the planet's core and he had to dig his way out. They're also not invulnerable, and without proper armour or weapons they can still be wounded/die relatively easily. Guilliman almost died to sustained bolter fire at an Alpha Legion assassination attempt.

As for the last bit, I like the theory (backed by some evidence) that the Emperor knew that half of the Primarchs would rebel. Possibly it was even a cost for their creation with the Chaos Gods. He just didn't know when, who or how, but when ahead with stacking the deck so that the traitor side would be filled with all the fuck-ups and shitheads. So the Emperor mistreating Angron may well have been a
>I'm 99% sure he's going to turn traitor
>May as well get some use out of him before the flip
>>
>>721419780
Angron isn't even Khorne's first choice but Sangunius, who doesn't need to be lobotomized to be a berserker.

Rowboat and by extension all Primarchs are superlative fighters, he's just maybe near the lower end of his demigod siblings in martial prowess by the time the Heresy started. Politics and logistics are his jam, the Ultramarines were the single biggest legion, and the only one that got a net gain in manpower by the time the Heresy ended despite some other retard (Peturabo) having the unique benefit of a lower gene seed rejection rate because he ran his legion like the Imperial Army.
>>
>>721403754
The 'missing' Primarchs are both dead. They died during the Heresy, specifically the Rangdan Xenocides. It's implied that they both had their brains hijacked by the Rangdan and Russ had to put them down, with the Emperor forbidding anyone to talk about them to not bring attention to their failure.
