>>721463583You can only play the endearingly jank card once and can't keep doing that for 15 years, not when you are company that size with MS bucks. Not that bethesda was small before and probably really shouldn't have gotten a pass on a game with 5 in the name but because of how big mainstream success it happened to be it managed to get away with it by virtue of being the first game of this kind for many people.Times have changed TES6 needs to be a real next generation game. You can't just make fallout 4 (a game already woefully outdated when it came out itself) in space and call it your major title again.

>>721465925>real next generation gameWhat does that entail exactly? Not like any of this matters anyway, because Bethesda still has ZERO competition in the first-person fantasy open-world with lite-sim elements genre. Starfield flopped because it was sci-fi, TES6 just has to be slightly prettier Skyrim.
>>721465656>Obsidian was wanting to make an actual mainline gameIndeed. An actual good game, unlike those listed. A New Vegas to Skyrim's Fallout 3. We couldn't be having that, now could we.
>>721466896Why would Bethesda let Obsidian debut a new Province? Or did they want to make a new game in an already explored Province?
>>721467181We don't know a thing about what ideas they had. They could've easily set the game on an island like Redguard did with Stros M'kai. Roscrea, for example.https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Roscrea
>>721465480nta but it's simple herd mentality psychology for one. Also, it's an extremely valid point. The game is utterly and admittedly shallow, even by Bethesda themselves. In their delusion they imagined the game to be magically filled with mods while they ironically crippled the consumer incentive to have access to mods by buying out talented mod creators and paywalling content.

>>721467181>Why would Bethesda let Obsidian debut a new Province? That's the point. They wouldn't because they're pussies and they know it would have had more sovl. Just look at TR, despite some weird community project idiosyncrasies it's way more charming than at least 50% of the TES content Bethsoft has put out since Morrowind.
>>721467406A game on a island would've been fun. I wonder if Obsidian would've been capable of making a Bethesda sized open-world back then without having access to a vault of pre-made assets though.>>721467976>Letting a contracted studio take on one of the major selling points of new TES games. >>721465080It's not like that. They're a clique of woke weirdos who all agree with each other. In their eyes he is great because he has the same beliefs. It's completely irrational.
>>721465426Both yes and no. I have been thinking how the same approach to a design can come from entirely different reasons and it makes all the difference in the world.>Daggerfall>Randomly generated content so each playthrough would feel like a new adventure. To generate an incredible amount of content that would be infeasible, if not even impossible, doing it "by hand" with manual human effort. >While the functions will be the same, the locations and setups would be certainly different enough that you won't already know where to go and what to do.>The possible layouts and features the randomly generated content has a level of depth where even after many hours of playing the game, it can generate goofy and interesting setups that bring back that sense of novelty again.>The major flaw is that sometimes the generations are objectively awful, sometimes making certain dungeons actually impossible to finish as a consequence.>Starfield>Randomly generated content just so they did not have to make the dungeons themselves.>The variety and functions are minimum, they all feel samey with no surprises.>The only advantage to the modern day random generations is simply that it ensures it won't make unwinnable situations ("soft locked" dungeons).>They know it's shit. They actually expected their modding community to improve their gameplay, add new elements to their procgens, and create the interesting NPCs and new 'handcrafted' content for them, and then approach some mod creators to have their work sold as 'third-party DLC' via the Creation Club shit.Beyond the surface they're entirely different. Not the same at all. Modern day Bethesda have nothing to do Daggerfall (Todd joined after Daggerfall, he's to blame for TES Adventures Redguard BTW). Fallout 4's (that's was really when Bethesda 'died') random gen content is a laughable mix of pathetic incapability and nefarious rent-seeking.
>>721469319At this rate, probably. I don't anyone foresaw a 15yr gap between TES5 and TES6. Shame Obsidian went to shit some time ago, would've love to see a TES from them right about now.
>>721469983Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks are two different companies.
>>721470839I honestly wouldn't mind randomly generated dungeons in TES6. Starfield was their first attempt at doing it in their modern engine, so they'll be more likely to do it well this time around. They've been using Fallout as their test bed for the Elder Scrolls games since they got the rights to it, so I wouldn't be surprised if they plan on using some systems from Starfield.
Don't worry lads, Beyond Skyrim is coming out any day now. Aaaaaaaaaaaany day now...https://georgetr1.github.io/Beyond-Skyrim-Map/

>>721469176Yes, he absolutely is.
>>721473056I'm hopeful too, but they haven't even finished the world space of the Imperial City so no nav mesh or quests or QA or anything else has been done. I expect a delay.

>>721472479>>721472623>Everyone hates oblivion>Somehow they all want to play it on the skyrim engineWhy tho?Plus, the original oblivion and the remake are much more fun than skyrim and morrowind.
>>721473306Only the Imperial City itself was unfinished right? I thought everything was basically finished apart from navmeshing?
>the original oblivion and the remake are much more fun than skyrim and morrowind(You)
Can't wait to finish my playthrough of Elder Scrolls 6 and then immediately go boot up Morrowind for a playthrough of a better and more immersive video game experience.
>>721435854>make the map small>make the map extremely dense with interesting things to findNo lmao.I recently played Skyrim and was annoyed as fuck that I couldn't walk 5 minutes without encountering enemies guarding their lair.Oblivion did it better in this regard. Stuff was more spread out.
>>721472356If they actually do that then I'am never buying the game. I would only change my mind is if they proved me wrong and it turns out to be amazing. But I have no hope of that at all. I am not some boomer elitist either. What I long for is the 'action adventure' gameplay of Skyrim that has the level of mechanical depth of Morrowind, as well as a sense of danger (so no level scaling, areas that look scary actually are and will wreck your shit and leave you with costly repair and illness curing bills), and have interesting writing. My only hope of that happening is when Skyrim becomes fully playable on the OpenMW engine and someone does their own complete overhaul themselves, including rewriting and replacing the godawful dogshit that are Skyrim's quests. I might even try to do it myself but as of now even the Special Edition engine doesn't support the types of gameplay mechanics I want without breaking.
>>721473819Must be nice to be so easily amused.I am jealous of those that can just enjoy the simple things.
>>721473630Well and some of the Deadlands that haven't been done since it's like bonus so that when each portal rotates through a different worldspace it isn't just pulling from a pool of 7. But the Imperial City being unfinished puts a stop on every thing related to the city until it's done. And it's the largest city in the game with a lot of quests and a lot of space to navmesh. And it's not just that it's unfinished, it's still waiting on architecture pieces to be done from the last I read, so it's still basically in the post concept stage still. It'll be a while.
>>721473630Supposedly. Devs are QA testing quests and reporting bugs until they can work on the Imperial Cityhttps://www.youtube.com/@RebelzizeXtra/videos
>>721473606>Everyone hates OblivionNo, it's just the most awkward one. It doesn't have the depth of Morrowind or the smoothness (debatable I guess) of Skyrim. It's on that cursed version of Gamebryo that's buggy as shit and a pain to mod. The Demake is ugly, destroys the originals art style and atmosphere. Skyblivion is expanding on the Oblivion, like redoing the also the copy-pasted Ayleid Ruins and Oblivion Gates to actually have unique layouts and designs. Structures are being expanded, like Cloud Ruler Temple and the citites. And best of all, it'll have all the improvements of Skyrim SE and it's bevy of mods. Armour and first-person animation mods especially will be see immediate use.
>>721474190>>721474239Damn. Guess I'll just have to do a TTW playthrough after I'm done with the winter Skyrim playthrough.

>>721474394Or play Project Tamriel, I picked it up last January when they released Anvil and it's very good. >>721474526Oh yeah that's fair, the Arboretum was finished earlier this year.
>>721452375>I wouldn't count on that. TES is in the same boat as GTA - they're relics of a previous generation of gamersA 2006 Elder Scrolls game with an HD skin came out this year and outdid every other game on the market so YTA
>>721474526>>721474897Oh and the Waterfront has been done for years at this point, unless they are redoing that as well. It wasn't very different from the original.
>>721474897I might just do that. Are the new areas they showed off at modcon releasing this year?
>>721475262Dunno, I think the plan was to have Markarth area stuff for Skyrim release. And maybe one other big area in Morrowind. They don't really do release dates.
>>721474826I am a warrior-mage supremacist and I want my enchanted heavy armor while wearing my fabulous robes too as I cast my custom made OP spells of doom. I also use a mod that allows me (and NPCs) to cast spells on a whim so I don't even have to switch away from my weapon to cast my spells. I need it. You might say>"That sounds like some bitch made casual shit"Yeah, it is. Don't care. As I've said, I am not an elitist. Looking up how to create OP builds and choosing to do so is easy mode. I love it. I don't hate Skyrim because it's "Casual" (I pretty much am one) I hate Skyrim because the writing is painfully bad and the gameplay is uninteresting. Morrowind's depth comes from exploiting it's systems. And Skyrim has not even a fraction of Morrowind's depth.
>>721475479Can you continue playing on the same save after major updates?

>>721477260Nah, it's simply ugly, not technically, but artistically. OG Oblivion was bursting with colour, and they made another brown-gray UE5 mess with fog everywhere. There is no reason to play the Demake over a modded Oblivion.
>>721477814>MUH COLOOOOOOOOOOOR>actually pretending unfinished facegen potato heads and low res textures are SOVL because you're too stupid to adjust your own saturation
>>721477971Yeah, colours. Oblivion's character models are ugly as shit, but the world was always the star. Why would I pay $50 for an ugly Demake that failed to retain the atmosphere of a 20yr old game?
>>721476736It depends on what they change, if they just add new worldspace then it's fine. But if they modify some existing space then who knows.
