Most early "HD" flatscreens were 1366x768 or 1280x720. You didn't get full proper 1080p HD until 09/10

I bought my 360 elite in July 2008. The 360 already supported 1080p output via HDMI then, and I had a TV that did 1080p120 for Jewray output.

A set with 1080p input doesn't always mean a 1080p panel. Yours probably did but they were few and far between until "LED" TVs took off.
