Does anyone know a korean online racing game that was themed after fairy tales and wonder land? All your characters races on foot and you would 3D platform across platforms.I've been thinking about it and can only remember there was a low poly girl with really basic titty physics and obstacles swinging back and forth knocking players down.

>>721502558The drilling drop rates were a headache
>>721501998Waiting for the next test of RO Rebuild, had fun a whole week on the previous one.https://x.com/RoDoddler/status/1964036134805356875
>>721502485I also think it was tales runner
anyone know the korean online game (not mmo) that kind of played like Gunbound, but looked like Metal Slug and had vehicles?
>Not gaming on Rose Online
>>721502695I don't get the appeal of waiting over new private servers and starting over on each one. Like if you go to the RO general on /vm/ and ask them which server you should play on they'll all argue and shitpost each other over which is the best. Then when you actually play them they're dead as shit. The official server still gets over 1k players.

Seriously how did the Koreans do it? They created so much soul in the 2000s.

>>721503778PC Bang culture informs the way Koreans made their own games for their own market and it makes them feel different from everyone else's games The hyper grindy ass aspect of those games may or may not have something to do with wanting to piss away as much time as possible at the PC shop instead of at home or at school studying
>>721503031Big Yogurting fan here. I still have no idea how the game is like.
>>721503448Mobileslop consumed it, digested it and shat it out without the soul
Wish there was a way we can download these older MMOs and play them offline with bots. Private servers never last forever.
I really enjoyed something called SEAL online, but I think that might actually be Taiwanese.
>>721504042The yogurting OST is also great, recommend a listen for anyone who enjoys the 2000s kmmo music era

>>721501998As comfy as this game was, the questing was just awful.>accept quest>quest tells you to collect 5 items>collect 5 items with the most godawful rng>oh wait, did I say 5 items? I actually meant collect 5 items times 20 lol
>>721504078Funny you say that, the pserver for OP LifeTO has been around for a decade. It's actually decent and the dev surprisingly implemented suggestions from our MMOdeventure stint about drilling rates
I might be retarded back then, but don't most mmo like trickstar, rose, and Ragnarok require you to pay for subs to play it?
Why were there so many Korean MMOs?
>>721504692>and the dev surprisingly implemented suggestions from our MMOdeventure stint about drilling ratesDamn I didn't even know that and I actually played with you guys. Wonder how many other times we affected the playerbase in some way for other games. I remember the brief drama we had in RF Online over people knowing we're from 4chan so they intentionally hunted us down and player-killed us.

They really want that mmo to die so they can make another pump and dump mmo, but the Elin are that powerful.
For me? It's the bunny.
>>721504648Why was old MMO quest design so bad? You'd get a couple tutorial quests and then if you're lucky 1 quest every 10 levels like this where the reward would be a +1 str ring that you'll wear until max level.
I'm ready to go home!
>>721505154thanks!
>>721505307KMMO wise, they are not made with longevity in mind. They just cut and paste those quest and made it so that the players are force to play the game until they finish those quest.
>>721503008I loved getting gifted free items by gay pedos on ROSE and letting them drive me around in their kart mounts. Kino
>>721505096It's not even a contest, the rest are p2wfests with varying degrees of discord drama. It's really easy to farm premium currency to the point donating would only be a thankful gesture for the dev
>>721504840Maybe I'm exposing my geolocation here but I remember they announced a new server with slightly better EXP rates and I had to go to a game store for an account + game time, it had a password and account number provided and everything.
>>721505307Maybe it's just rose-tinted glasses and nostalgia but I prefer mob grinding as a means to level up than getting a big batch of exp by talking to one NPC to another, then occasionally getting the "collect 10 boar asses" quest.
>>721505443I am referring to those mmo back in the 2000s era. I remember those mmo are sub fee only?
>>721504840Ragnarok did. And it was worth it. Can’t remember if rose did but I wouldn’t be that surprised
>>721505057I heard RIFT got its first content update in a while after they played it. Also the dragonica spidpex server made major changes though I can't say what since I wasn't there for that one
You ever just feel like intentionally making your room look like pic-related just so you can relax and play some 2000s KMMOs?
>>721505434We were kids, none of us gave a shit if these games were p2w for those who wanted to. Most of us were having fun playing for free or some of us buying a costume or two
>>721505505I was talking about ragnarok. But some MMOs also did everything on a loan in the cash shop like pay for 7 days of double exp or rent a cosmetic for 30 days, locking teleport or mount functions behind a VIP.
>>721505057I remember we crashed the servers for a few games because it was the most amount of players they've gotten in an influx
>>721505663>sabrina the teenage witchLove the show. Kind of went downhill in the college year.>>721505589>>721505682Ah that make sense.
>>721505680The correct way to play those was get in while the hype and playerbase peaked and play until the paywall hit, drop and pick up the next hot f2p kmmo because there were a LOT
almost never hear about anyone playing trickster on /vit was comfy, nothing but grinding public overworld maps awaited you, im talking 8h+ per level at ~200+ similar to maplestorymade alot of great friends in there though and we eventually moved on to other mmos and stuffI miss those simpler times
>>721505849We played it a year ago on /vm/. Had a lot of anons join, I'd say about 30 or more. We might go back to it one day.
LifeTO is surprisingly well supported, you can even play in high resolutions. As much as I like the aesthetic of TricksterOnline and it having some neat systems underneath, it does feel like it lacks some depth and more importantly, content, the first 100~150 levels are pretty packed but then it gets pretty scarce for a game that goes up to 400.
>>72150584930 year old boomer here. If you were into these games in the early 2000s we tried ALL of them. Some were better than others
>>721505849that's interesting and yeah /v/ and /vm/ played it over a year ago. I think it's changed a lot since you played it because they added kill 10 bearass questing and shifted a bunch of maps around. I remember having to grind field mobs to lvl from the starting beach area
The appeal of exploring new kinds of video game worlds with other clueless kids with unlimited free time in the wild west of the earlier internet is long gone. I can still enjoy mindless grinding in Maple Story for a short while, but that type enjoyment is on a different track than the retarded nostalgic socializing of yesteryear. I need to start grinding my Arcanas in Mabi again.
I was a Gunbound/F2P Runescape player since my parent refuse to pay for monthly payment. Its disheartening that I miss out on so many mmo at their prime because of this and made me utterly HATE subscription payment with a burning passion. Fuck that paying system.
2010s apparently but it was the best gook mmo I've ever played
It was fun
Wonder if I'm the only one here who played Crystal Sagahttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbcyKDMMJEQUsed to play this sometimes when I got back from middle school. Really comfy game.
>>721506403those old mmohuts vids were pure soul
>>721506097I played from beta or launch so its been ages but I recall questing but eventually they ran outI had a 320+ character when maybe a dozen were 300+, it was all grinding those 2 lava maps all day everyday in a party sleeping afk corner of the map heh
I really don't remember how the classes actually played in Trickster
reminder to visit the mmodventure thread on /vm/ if you want to play older mmos with 4chan anons
LOL
>>721507102kek
>>721503778Honestly it really is a miracle how much effort and soul went into the art style and music of old korean MMOs, they quite literally cannot make them the same. Koreans captured lightning in a bottle several times in the 2000s and threw it all away because p2w and infinite powercreep lmao.

>>721506057Some of them were hard as fuck to install too. I remember trying to get Ghost Online to work for like 3 days, then I played it and hated it. Same with LaTale, awful game to play back then if you didn't have single digit ping. I always ended up returning back to maple because at the time it seemed like the game would never stop peaking. Year after year maple was crushing it, and it always felt great to return.
>>721506316kek I still log onto project duck sometimes to duel my friend for shits and giggles. koreans haven't made a pvp game as fun as dn since then.
>>721507171It is how they make their money. Once they master the money making genre that is Gacha, KMMO becomes obsolete.
>>721502646Standard Korean mmo fare
>>721502571>>721502701Tales Runner was so peak, the Aladdin stage was my favorite
>>721507432They could still have millions addicted to MMOs if they actually cared about maintaining the quality of these games but they prefer the pump and dump while constantly overhauling the game until it's no longer recognizable.
>>721507102Merchanting is hard work
>>721507659They pump and dump KMMO but that require lots and lots of effort. Now they can just make Jpeg, slap it on a phone, and use a fraction of the work to get 10x as much as a KMMO. Its all about getting the most money with very minimal input.
anyone remember the name of that side scrolling korean mmo where you have a pet that can transform into weapons? i remember on early level you have that black orb pet as a starter that transforms into a short sword

Does anyone remember a korean MMO called something like Survivor Online? It was a 2d MMO with a fixed isometricish perspective, it had a physics engine and everything. One of the goofy event things it had was being able to play soccer. It was wave based dungeon clearing in small groups, with a central hub you could hang out with other people. I remember there being a mage character who could ride a broom for their movement, and not much else about the game. I think it had gear upgrading via cards? This was back around the very very beginning of the 2000's, before I diverted hardcore to becoming an FPS bum with 10k+ hours across CS 1.5 and onwards
Every day I thank the lord that I had XI because my parents loved me instead of being subjected to these
I want to have unlimited sex with my Parasites!
I know it's not a korean mmo or even a korean game, but did anyone play this back then?
There is an OST from this game I was never able to find/remember. It was the music used for one of the login screens, and for the life of me I just never found it. I've listened to every login track from the game and none of them sound like the one I heard, but it was such a long time ago...It was SUPER CATCHY I know that. I actually really loved Trickster, didn't play it a ton, but it was one of few F2P MMO's I remember really enjoying for more than 2-3 weeks.

>>721505307Quests are fucking dogshit and I hate the modern MMO trend of there being some long boring ass story that holds your hand all the way until the "end game" where they shove all the actual playable content.Ragnarok Online (was) the best laid out quest system where there we LONG AND INVOLVED but completely optional 90% of the time aside from dungeon entrance quests.>bro remember the shitlava cave/hallwaykeep/dogshit forest dungeon quest in wow/xiv/gw2/eso?literally nobody>bro remember Nameless Island/Biolabs/Gefenia unlock from RO?Immediate reaction, usually trauma dumping.
>>721509041Even modern Maplestory is guilty of this, when old Maplestory didn't fuck around with all that.
>>721508942Not really, when I have a job, I started playing those mmo and get disappoint that everyone is gone. I also try hopping into new mmo just to get that feeling its just not there anymore. I would rather just play a month or two when those mmo is at its prime rather than join it a decade later in some shitty private server that no one talks or interact. Same reason they didn't buy me yugioh card when I wanted it the most, and end up spending hundreds of dollars a decade later just to fill that endless hole that was my childhood.
>>721509041Endgameoids hate this post because he told the truth
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPoHpGzcWLIstill the best character selection OST
>>721509132NTA but I do miss that about old maple. There were a handful of quests scattered across the world doing if you needed some extra cash or a nice cheap item for your weakest slot, but otherwise most of them were pretty useless so you could skip the quests and just grind if you wanted to, and the only mandatory ones were the prequests for zakum and horntail, and your job advancement quests which were all traumatizing in their own way for a long time. I absolutely fucking remember the first time I did my zakum prequests. I could log in right now after not playing for over 15 years and make both the mines and the jump quest my bitch RIGHT NOW. That's how much impact it had on me, that's good quest design.
>guild revamp and paula never got released in eTO before it shutdown>didn't get to try out that one server with the unreleased content that was around because it got silently rugpulled by the gook niggers that were running it>lifeTO is the only not dead server and it lacks content by choice (no chaos tower, missing skills that came with it, etc)>there are files with the latest kr client/server version content translated out there and they arent being released because faggots want to charge an upwards of $5k+ for themim still mad
>>721509317>I could log in right now after not playing for over 15 years and make both the mines and the jump quest my bitch RIGHT NOW.When ClassicMS releases Zakum down the line, I 100% plan to do just that. I've got the mine map permanently etched in my brain and the JQ down to a perfected science through my time spent on various private servers in recent years. I'm going to make it my mission to flood the market with Eyes of Fire AND Dead Mine scrolls. I WILL become the Kingpin of Zakum, and I will not rest until the entire server is wearing a zhelm provided the gold teeth don't cripple me, they were a bitch to get back in the day
Can anybody help me remember the name of an old shitty MMO.It was top down and action, but everybody was like riding some sort of broom or running or some contraption but it felt like you were on ice the entire time, extremely low friction, and also tank controls possibly? It had a PVP mode as well, all the usual fantasy shit like knights/mages/archers etc.
>>721504024The real sad part is Korea could have been "Japan but better with PC" since Japan sucked hard with their PC ports.
>>721509041>GefeniaI don't want to...
>>721509616I'm still not really sure how to feel about classic maple. I don't think it's gonna be it so right now I don't plan on trying very hard. I prefer classic maple over nu-maple but I'm not a true classic maplefag since there are a number of things the really early big bang patches did for explorers that I like a lot.
I've genuinely considered buying this $500 soundtrack and have never even played the game.
>>721509847Oh, I agree. Modern MS does so many things better, but at the same time it does a lot of things way, way worse. Main things being the community and the monetization. The former died because of their hyperfocus on storytelling, making every class secluded until way later down the line, the lack of PQs needs no explanation, faster leveling and bonuses for leveling up different classes on the same account both contribute to isolation as well. None of this will be present in Classic, assuming they're remaining faithful.Modern MS has much more fluid gameplay, there's way less dead skills and ways to brick your character along with far more mobility for everyone (at the cost of class identity, but with 60+ classes that's inevitable), and boss design is leagues ahead of how classic did it where Classic was just hold your attack button, tank every hit and rebuff occasionally.
>>721506057I miss RF online, it was the only game where I actually liked its open PVP. Keeping other races from speaking with each other was always a neat concept for a MMO. Also piloting giant upgradable mechs will never not be the coolest thing ever.
>>721510219>Modern MS has much more fluid gameplay, there's way less dead skills and ways to brick your character along with far more mobility for everyone (at the cost of class identity, but with 60+ classes that's inevitable), and boss design is leagues ahead of how classic did it where Classic was just hold your attack button, tank every hit and rebuff occasionally.Tbdesu I don't really care about this at all in maple, I really do not care about skill based mechanic heavy bosses and classes or whatever and having to find competent people to group with. It's more fun to party with casuals who just meet the stat requirements. I don't want to think when I play maple. I just wanna churn mobs into butter and hit fat numbers on bosses while playing the classes I like with my friends, I don't give a fuck about legion shit or link skills either since that forces me to play classes I don't like. I rather like the simplistic gameplay for maple specifically and that's why nu-maple isn't for me. Just gimmie my simple braindead 1-3 button classes with cutesy lethal chibi skills like savage blow or strafe and don't make them too overpowered. Nu-maple's flashy gameplay really rubs me the wrong way so I'm not willing to give it a chance since I think it looks hideous.
>>721505115Damn, I never got far enough in the beta to hear this. Didn't want to spend too much time grinding since it would become pay2play after beta ended, and I believe there was going to be a wipe anyway. I know a guy who subbed after beta and the game turned into a massive ghost town. It was a shame, it had some very appealing mechanics at the time. I know there's private servers but that won't capture the experience from 20 years ago seeing people opening stands everywhere to sell kiwis from the merchant at a mark-up or spawn camping and bum rushing boss monsters. Good times.

I still think Latale was the 2nd best looking 2d mmo of the time. Never played it, why didn't it do well?
>>721513808too much delay lag and maple's simplistic casual gameplay mogged it. it had no invulnerability frames and potions had cooldowns so a pack of mobs would hit you all at once and it felt bad to grind in. it looked good, but it didn't play well. it was a game people who were tired of maple would try, some of them would stick but most would end up going back to maple or quitting sidescroller mmos entirely.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEz6VrCMyRI
>>721513992Shame about that art style being wasted then. Need one of the better maplestory private server devs, like rmz, to purchase the rights to latale and make it good. It can't be worth that much.
>>721514531I played a private server way back in 2016 and it had low ping, it wasn't that much better. The whole double tap to sprint shit is a huge mechanical flaw in the gameplay for the overall feeling. Idk about latale pservers now but it just felt really really bad to play. Jumping, running and interacting with things like ropes and ladders are the worst aspect of the game. Honestly a really garbage coded game stuck behind a very soulful art style. The animations shit all over every other 2d sidescroller MMO that's ever existed and I stand on that belief. 2d sidescrollers with smooth animations basically weren't a thing outside of latale. I played long enough back in the day to get to like lv90 on a bard and spam evil song because I thought rocking out on a guitar with the best aoe mob clear after struggling through playing the worst class in the game was the coolest shit ever.
