I really wonder what the thematic purpose of Android 18 humiliating Vegeta was. You can’t say it was to establish the Androids as a serious threat, because 17 and 18 were never threats. I guess it was just comic relief because Toriyama hated Vegeta so much? It just didn’t make sense to humiliate a Super Saiyan that way at that point in the story
