Why do modern games need this?

Controls are easier and more intuitive then ever, in the PS2 days you would have to press 3 buttons at one time and use pressure sensitivity to perform one action. It's almost impossible to get lost in any modern vidya yet they need a giant fucking cursor on screen to tell you where to go.

Am I just an old man now and don't understand the new generation or are the younger generations just literally more retarded?

>P.S PS2 era pressure sensitive face buttons were pretty cool back in the day, why did this not advance over time?

>is it le heckin generational thing?!
