the xbox controller connects pretty flawlessly to the PC through bluetooth, you just activate the bluetooth search setting on the controller, then just search for the controller on Windows by clicking the bluetooth icon
it pops up pretty quickly, and you only need to do that once when you first buy the controller

anytime after when i press the xbox logo on the controller it automatically connects to my PC within a couple seconds as if it's a regular console, and many games are auto-configured to the controller so you literally dont need to do anything else
just press the xbox logo and start the game
i was just playing the arkham games flawlessly like this

maybe like 10-15 years ago it was a pain in the ass, but the xbox controller works with a Windows PC as conveniently as it does with the xbox console

After reading the thread, heres my conclusion.
Consoles were a massive mistake that ruined several generations and made them total brailets that cant into basic tech.
Consoles made sense in the early MSDoS era and before, but afterwards they just enabled total drooling retards to play video games, which also resulted in most games becoming absolute slop to satisfy these mouthbreathers.

I have my PC plugged into my tv. I play on it sometimes when the game calls for it such as dragon age veilguard which dropped on gamepass recently. The console version is shit compared to image quality you can have on PC so I played it on PC with a controller on my TV. So depending on the game I'll choose which platform to play it on. Usually between PC and xbox because I use gamepass between them. I also have a ps5 but unlike xbox there is no cross progression with pc so if I can get a playstation game on PC I'd rather do that such as FF7 rebirth which I bought on PC over ps5. If it had cross progression I would've bought it on ps5 and continued on PC but unfortunately Sony aren't intelligent like that.

PS5 is dog shit. It's just a quieter PS4 Pro, and even then ONLY if you are running a game off the hard drive. The disc reader sounds like it's going to take off on boot. I wish I could sell it, but it's worth so much less than retail, might as well just keep it. PC is a million times better on all fronts, and now Sony is releasing everything to PC anyways with better graphics and performance.

If you decide you want a similar setup for PC games, try a small-form-factor build with an AMD card and install the "deck mode" version of Bazzite. It gives you the same console interface that you'd get from a docked Steam Deck. Great HTPC experience.

I unironically don't play games on my gaming PC anymore. I switched to playing primarily on my PS5 about 2 years ago and have enjoyed the experience much more. I can grab my PS5 and bring it to the living room and play on my 85" tv when I want to as well which is nice.

The trophy system is better than steam's shitty achievement system, and I've actually bought a ton of older games on my PS5 to play again that I already own on PC just to get the trophies and give me another reason to replay my favorite games.

Also, it allows me to use my PC at the same time as I'm gaming on my PS5 and have browsers and guides and whatnot open, like having the map for Silksong makes playing and navigating around the map to find things I missed easier.
