What was the last game you played that you preferred exploring the world and fucking around rather than just doing missions?
>>721621132Bump
>>721621132I mostly play games that let me do either this or are pure gameplayI care little about the stories, lore or characters people on this medium usually write
>>721621132World of Warcraft, Bully, Jak II
nu-asscreed games
>>721624485>World of warcaftwhat did you do?
The Witcher 3. I had a hell of a time just feeling the atmosphere.
>>721621132FF15
>>721624660Originally was going for the explorer achievement but ended up just liking the ambiance and setting. Duskwood, Undercity, Winterspring, and Westfall were always very scenic. After Cata, Azeroth was less appealing but it was cool scaling buildings and mountain peaks.
Far cry 5.
>>721621132cyberpunk 2077. there wasnt a whole lot to do around the city outside of side missions but the setting itself is so cool i just had to immerse in it
>>721621132ffxv I think?
>>721621132Dying Light 1. Most games even open world have bad exploration, cause there is nothing to find besides caves and small stuff
>>721628654Isn't that the same in DL1? The fuck is there to find besides crafting materials on rooftops and in buildings?

Dragon's Dogma 2I enjoy running around killing monsters with my pawn. I liked how they'd chatter away about silly shit or shit talk the other pawns in my party because they'd try to give me tips.
>>721621132KCD, it's a pretty good thief simulator. you can make a lotta cash stealing stuff and selling it to the miller, and I did that until I had enough to buy a weapon, a good set of armor, and a tier 5 horse. then, there are bandit camps you can clear out with relative ease once you have good equipment, even if you don't know how to master strike/parry or whatever, which effectively solves combat, and because of thievery skills, you should be able to get easy stealth kills by the time you start taking on bandit camps. also there's a lot of sidequests available from the start, and in retrospect the main mission was the least interesting aspect of the game.
>>721621132Just Cause 3Red Dead 2GTA VElden RingIt's a mix of doing missions and messing around. I feel like messing around too much may spoil the fun of doing missions that would essentially be the same thing I was doing.
>>721631104Casual
>>721630608>I did that until I had enough to buy a weapon, a good set of armorWhy didn't you just steal those too, silly?
>>721631554cuz guards will randomly search you if you have stolen goods in your inventory, and to get out of it you either have to pass a dialogue check or cough up some gold to get them to look the other way, if you don't want to be a fugitive. by the time your speech skill is high enough to dissuade the guards, you'll have already gotten a full set of armor and a decent weapon, both of which will drop like candy from fallen enemies. early on though you're better of stealing things and selling them rather than keeping them, is the point.
>>721631906That's why when you steal them, you launder them via miller to remove the stolen tag.
>>721621132Zelda TotKI also liked exploring in BotW.RDR2 too
>>721621132None.Games are supposed to be an escape If I want to aimlessly wander, I'll get my steps in and go to a park or something
>>721630021Loads to find. Game is full of easter eggs, special loot, blueprints and environmental story telling
>>721632013the easiest thing to do would be to >steal a weapon>go fight some bandits>grab all their shit (or as much as you can carry)>sell it to a merchant>take the gold to buy a cheap ass horse>repeat until you have both gold and better equipmentbut the first time I played the game, I couldn't wrap my head around the combat because I didn't do the combat tutorial, I just fucked off to go explore, and so I avoided combat as often as I could while focusing on getting gold because I thought that having better gear would let me better survive, which turned out to be partially true.anyway I kept getting stopped by guards so that's why I decided to just buy a weapon. I couldn't pillage one from fallen enemies because I wasn't fighting.
>>721631104Hardcore enjoooyer
>>721621132Just cause 4 is that. It's one of the best sandbox games ever. A ton of vehicles and weapons and ways to fly around. Incredibly underrated.
>>721632013Not everyone plays the games with guides. Stolen item becoming unstolen because you bought it back for some reason despite not needing it isnt something you encounter in normal gameplay except through accident.
Morrowind
>>721624485>Jak IIwhat did you do?
Days gone has an annoying story but the post game where you can just screw around by destroying and resetting hordes is kinda fun.
>>721632960I didn't need a guide to do that, just because you can't think outside of the box doesn't mean others are just as unimaginative.
>>721621132Ghosts of Tshusima
>>721621132Xenoblade X. I hope the next Xeno game is also an open world with mechs.
>>721621132literally nevergive me a curated linear story experience over "sandbox" slop every time
