Is this game the better choice for a Half-Life play?Is it improved enough? In ways that are worth improving, not just the gwaficks?I've played the original but only a few levels in because I kinda got bored of re-trying some part I was having trouble with at the time and switched over to AvP to keep momentum on my Backlog.
>>721637374It's better than original in some ways and worse in other ways, you can't really see it unless you played both games.Where were you having trouble in original HL1?
>>721637631Well alright. I was planning to play it anyways because I've got it from some sale or something. As long as it's not a case of it being shit but woo-ing journos with its looks alone.I don't remember really. I think I was trying to escape the facility or something. Aliens were teleporting in, SWAT guys were there. I think I was running through a bunch of repetitive storage rooms with turrets? Maybe it was a turbine like I kept getting killed on a fanblade.
>>721637374Honestly, they feel like different games. HL1 is just HL1. You can't really replace it. They are both good, but I would never tell anyone to just play Black Mesa.
>>721637374I prefer this over the original. Tighter gunplay and horror-like atmosphere, recently played all the Half-Life games and started with Black Mesa because I had the same issue, contrary to what people say, not all games age perfectly
>>721638228Sounds like We've Got Hostiles. Did you reach big tentacles yet?
>>721637374I think Black Mesa is best appreciated when you've played the original.
>>721638310I got no problem with older games, I just don't want to play the "same" one twice and specially not the worst version of one if it has ports or big fan mod remake things like this.>>721638406Yeah I just looked into it, it was in Chapter 6. The pipes and shit are most familiar.
HL1 is better
