>RTS is le dead genre
>New games can stop popping up anyway
>>
Just need a full base building mass strategy Dawn of War not made my mobile game companies.
>>
Its not to scale and it looks gay. Why cant they ever make rts games with realistic-ish sizes for units and structures
>>
>>721665443
Age of Empires 2 is like that and it's kino, I don't know why it's so difficult for companies either.
>>
>>721665443
DORF is doing this.

Stronghold has some pretty good perspective/scale for its buildings and units. The graphics remind me of when id read these cross section books as a child. Newer games just dont have this feel to them its not grainy enough too smooth.
>>
>>721665629
This looks cool, is there an economy side or is it pure combat?
>>
>>721665443
Because it's a spiritual successor to Majesty

>Borderline same VA for the royal guy
Demo was okay but idk about throwing down till there's more content. Annoying that it keeps throwing me to a website so give feedback.

because buildings are massive and humans small.
Supreme Commander has a realistic scale as in everything feels small again because even the smallest units are as big as trees.
If you want an rts with some scale try Battleforge or Universe at War. Unit size is literally a mechanic of Battleforge

Is this a mobile game?
Either way the most memorable RTS had stellar single player campaign which modern RTS lack.
>>
>>721665321
>Colour gets more washed out the further away from the camera.
Why does every modern game do this? BoTW, Nu-Oblivion, every game has anti soul fog. But why? Rendering limits? Immersion? Don't they understand how important visual clarity is in a game.
>>
>>721667959
It's volumetric fog for the purpose of masking lower detail LOD I think
>>
>>721665820
scavange style economy so kinda
>>
>>721665535
Are real life castles only like 10 elephants wide?
>>
>>721669112
Yes, I measured them.
>>
>>721669112
many castles are pretty small actually
Osaka castle has a length of 90m.
If you focus on the stronghold/keep and don't count in separate walls, then this is fairly common even for most european castles.
>>
>>721665820
The economy is beyond autism. You have to collect scrap materials with increasingly larger harvesters and then you have to actually build supply chains in your base to move the materials from the refinery to your production structures.

Do any of these modern RTS have fun singleplayer campaigns or are they all just failed attempts at becoming the next big esport?
>>
>>721673485
You already know the answer to that anon
>>
>>721665535
The only thing that really stops me from like the AoE series is the difference in workers, resource collection, and base building. The combat and tactics I like well enough, I just don't like how they do that particular part of the RTS gameplay.
>>
>>721673485
Tempest Rising isn't half bad, it's 20 missions split between the only 2 playable factions right now and they encourage completing side objectives to get resources to unlock campaign specific bonuses so replayability is pretty good. Personally I think the Dynasty are more fun to play than the GDF, who are a little too slow to get going and are easy to bully early on.
>>
the aoe economy is niggerlicious
>200 popcap
>130 workers
>>
>>721665321
That's not an RTS
>>
>>721665321
RTS is a dead genre because nobody actually cares that much for the entire package it offers. Which is why different related genres with a bigger focus on individual aspects have splintered off and found great success, but RTS will forever go nowhere.

they removed all the shitty parts from RTS and called it MOBA

The main problem with RTS isn't the games, its the players.

that's how war works

a lot of them probably were, at least in terms of the keep itself, which is what the aoe2 castle models represent.
>>
>>721668714
LOD models don't make much sense in isometric games desu
>>
>>721667465
The scale difference between unit sizes and their ranges I think is understated in supreme commander. I think its where a lot of the depth in strategy and positioning comes from. Firing and maneuvering is actually a thing when your engagement range is so large relative to the size of the unit and the speed it moves.
>>
>>721665443
Then it becomes an RTT
