Is there a mod for silksong that adds a map system similar to metroid or castlevania where rooms that you explore are marked on the map but not the whole area? I despise hollow knights map system but i also don‘t want everything revealed from the start

Those void missiles he shoots are so fucking hard to dodge and he spams that shit all the time. Also, every time I respawn and I see Zaza desperate for me to help it breaks my fucking heart. Shaman is OP with spell spam and can generate silk at range, but you need to be comfortable with not healing
>>
>>721670925
if you take "fall damage" it counts as normal damage to the rasher. same with running directly into walls.
equip silkspeed anklets and flea brew, defeat all enemies between the two locations and DON'T BENCH, then start the delivery again. you have double jump right?

jesus christ you're retarded. it'd be one thing if you were talking about a few specific boss fights but you're talking about an enemy arena with flying enemies; shaman does an excellent job.
>>
>>721670925
>i can't
You can. If you haven't pre-cleared the enemies I'd definitely recommend doing so. The quest you a pretty good cushion of time/hits. So if your problem is that you're taking too many hits, you can afford to slow down a little. And if your problem is that you're running out of time, then you can afford to play a little riskier to go faster.
And don't forget your clawline. It makes ascending up the blasted steps much faster.

Well it's weird because he shares those intimate details with her every time they encounter each other outside of the throne room. I understand we were probably tracking the one that sacrificed himself body and soul to become the Cogwork template but I wish they expressed that a bit more clearly.

I think it makes sense when you consider that less a boss theme for Widow and more one for Weavers in general. Sort of like how Unravelled and Legoli and Broodmother share a theme as the unsettling/disgusting bosses.

It's ironic how the game gives you tools to deal with ranged enemies that outclass shaman as the "ranged" weapon

People really don't remember how Path of Pain worked. It was multiple relatively lengthy endurance runs with no checkpoints, with a lot of dangerous pogoing, which warranted effectively infinite tries through all respawn points having an infinite soul generator. The closest this ever gets at all is on Mount Fay with the cold mechanic pressuring you to play fast, and yet it still didn't have you effectively stalling for the correct cycle by pogo-ing.

Seriously, how does anyone not remember the fucking retracting spikes that you had to be in rhythm with to keep yourself sustained in the air? Silksong literally has nothing like this. Yet.

The face kind of ended up looking semi ant like as I tried to figure out the proper headshape that would fit inside the mask given the eye slot placements. Spider like head does not really fit given that spiders have eyes that face straight forwards (along with the tiny eyes they also have), whereas Hornet's mask seems to have the eye slots sort of slightly on the side of the mask, and the mask in general seems to be bit pointed forwards rather than flat in terms of the face.

Thanks. I just kind of found the idea of her having same sort of hair as her grandma cute, plus spiders actually do have hair (often full body covered in it) so it would kind of be fitting as well.

I personally prefer fanart that, when depicting Hornet in more detail, actually guives her bug like appearance, over art that just gives her human anatomy.

Immediate backwards dash can save time. Also it lets you freely climb a wall you come in contact with so it's good for arenas

This is such a brainrotted attitude and I'm bringing it up because Team Cherry feel for the same damn brainrot: these tards who play the game for 10,000 hours as their job need a huge reality check for what is and isn't easy - literally everything in the world is easy after you've dumped 10,000 hours into it. What, you're gonna push away 99.9% of your audience to satisfy the 0.1% of players who are streaming the game for a living? That's a fucking retarded insanity metric.

The spikes I don't really like doing 2 damage. But enemies doing double damage is mostly the right move. Like the balancing landed well for my level of skill, so I could never get too comfortable with my silk and fights often ended on low masks and low silk, but I got there in the end. If everything did half damage I would probably just cruise through it, and the fights wouldn't feel as tense as they did.
>>
>>721675101
The spikes thing is retarded ofc but the double contact damage makes perfect sense. If the contract damage was only 1 mask then you'd just keep bumping into the enemy on purpose to i-frame their double damage attacks. And then it would be just like HK, you just keep bumping and facetanking. They clearly don't want people playing like this.

For anyone who was still wondering, you 100% do not lose your Steel Soul run if you die during the memory fights (Karmelita, Nyleth, Khaan)
You also don't lose your run if you die to First Sinner.

I did that a bunch even in the game desu, for add fights like Beastfly I'd oftentimes take a dip into the lava to avoid getting the 2 damage hip check because I had the bell, or I'd run into Trobbio to avoid an explosion. What the 2 damage contact means in practical terms is you're never allowed to be directly underneath Moorwing and reverse-pogo him because if he staggers and falls onto you it's over, and in turn that does nothing but drag out the fight by throttling how fast you're allowed to hit him. All it is now is stall and inconvenience you. Yes it makes the game harder but only because it's more annoying.

Is it true there's no NG+?

It's a no brainer and I'm shocked it isn't in
>>
>>721675681
>Not all bugs wear masks.
A majority of the bugs of Hallownest do. And Herrahs people do. Even the fucking Midwife wears one and she isn't even a recognizable bug.
>Then she'd have worn one of the Orb Weaver masks like the rest of her kin,
She wears one styled on the head dress of her mother who herself is different from the other weavers in pretty much every way but that is another kettle of fish.
And the bees are like the Skarrs. They're a separate culture that don't follow it for one reason or another and are apart and even aggressive to non members. The masks have an important value that are common across multiple civilizations but not to all bug kind and everything points to the fact that Hornet would follow these conventions.
>>
>>721676035
If it's not Moorwing it's always something else, Karmelita can randomly take a step forward at anytime to punish you for trying to be too aggressive with her. Lost Lace can and will spawn directly underneath you if you ever move Hornet in neutral. The list goes on. The mechanic ultimately means "you're not allowed to move here here and here" and "you're not allowed to attack here here and here." I put enough hours into HK to know when they're making it harder by cucking you, and I don't appreciate it. A lot of this stuff I feel could be bindings they'd let you install on the campaign itself intsead of godhome, like removing Kuro's Charm in Sekiro, rather than enforce Cripple Mode on you by default.

Of all games, Silksong would be the game where NG+ would be the most fun. It's such a huge game, working to regain everything you earned is just a pain. I refuse to replay the game from the start because you don't start with the sprint.
>>
>>721676496
I didn't, but I think to a point it's less relevant to that game, because the main combat pickups are only spells, which don't really change how you play the combat
Whereas in Silksong the crests change your moves and give new playstyles
If I want to play with the Witch crest, I can't use it until I complete its quest, so I don't get to use it on all the eaerlier bosses and enemies
Tools are similar
So I think this game would benefit a lot from an NG+ that let you keep those two things, like I said
Tbqh I could just cheat engine or mod or whatever any crest I want at the start of NG, but eh
>>
>>721676412
I'm not sure if you're aware anon, but the masks aren't just an aesthetic choice. They influence your personality and possibly even involve giving sentience. Check how breaking the mask maker's mask completely changes his personality.
The mask maker from HK says the masks are for bugs that have faces, if you have a face, they don't want to make a mask for you.

Yeah, that's the problem, its like Grimm but you're not allowed to try chasing him between teleports so you're stuck standing around doing nothing. 1 contact damage on lost lace would make this an acceptable risk but 2 contact damage is a hard "you're not allowed" sign, and that's just making the fight less engaging. In almost all cases that's all the 2 contact damage mechanic amounts to.

>A majority of the bugs of Hallownest do.
Hornet has made it very clear she doesn't care about what the majority wants, and Herrah directly encourages her to go against the grain as seen in the Red Memory, even going as far as to tell her to ignore the wants of the other Weavers.
>And the bees are like the Skarrs. They're a separate culture that don't follow it for one reason or another and are apart and even aggressive to non members.
And yet Hornet was raised by them and their queen as one of their own due to Herrah being put to sleep soon after Hornet was born. There is literally no reason to assume that Hornet would ever bother wearing a mask considering that even if she did care about following cultural conventions she'd certainly follow the conventions of the society that raised her and follow the pragmatic option of not bothering with one at all.
Hornet goes against the grain, and even if she didn't, all signs point to her not wearing a mask.

They'll add a Godhome/boss rush DLC eventually and you'll be able to use everything against everything, but NG+ is not in the spirit of this series, for one thing it's very hard to scale enemy damage with this mask system, and there would be too many potential skips if the player had everything from the beginning, just too much work and the fandom prefers doing fresh runs anyway, hope this helps

The difference is that Ghost doesn't directly talk with any of the NPC's, and most of them wrap up their quests on their own. NTA but the only thing I really want is a mod that lets you down-pogo with Hunter. If Hunter worked like this
>Down+attack = straight downwards pogo
>Down + A/D+attack = diagonal pogo
The diagonal pogo is pretty slick in niche circumstances like giving Karmelita and Unravelled backshots when they try parrying you from the front, but when the diagonal pogo feels bad it feels REALLY bad and makes me feel like I'm working with only 75% of a complete moveset. It would unironically be among the slickest movement in the genre if they did this.

TC's buffed Hunter's damage twice now but it'll never be popular until they do something like this anyway because the diagonal pogo is a huge filter regardless of damage.

Herrah is weird no matter what way you look at it. In the memory and in HK as a dreamer she just looks fucking off but I guess she was just born different
Even the barely sentient animals in this world have a desire to cover their face like the drape bats or all the little mossgrubs. Those mask makers as as busy as Santa's elves handing them all out. So if figure that yes, the sinner cutscene shows her with a broken mask and that is carried over when she's ascended a couple of evolutionary steps.

What gives us the impression a lot of times has passed since HK?
>>
>>721678065
I tried Reaper but I hated the rest of its non-pogo moveset to I switched back to Hunter. I didn't find Wanderer until after I got the double jump so I actually stuck with Hunter for most of the game to keep the muscle memory I had just spent so long learning. But there were undoubtedly times where I said "fuck this shit it's Wanderer time, it's not worth it." I feel that even if you gave Hunter a down-pogo, Wanderer and Reaper would still be good. Wanderer would still have more consistently-high damage and a faster swing speed versus Hunter's "dude just don't get hit bro" gimmick, and with Reaper you can chain silk arts retardedly fast by picking up the shinies. And like I said, there are times where you want the diagonal pogo, but I can't compromise on my gut feeling that it's pretty clunky and restrictive exactly when you need it most.

Hunter has the best overall moveset when you factor its sprint attack, it's what allows you to get quick hits and immediately readjust. If you're up against particularly tall enemies too you can sprint attack, and then almost immediately normal attack in the air to get 2 hits in extremely quickly. The issue I think is just that people still play like it's Hollow Knight, even with the revised moveset. Nobody is dashing to close distance, they're dashing to make distance. Nobody's pogoing to reposition, they're pogoing to get free hits. Hunter just works as the crest meant for being stylish and effective, but the game is too punishing for players to actually want to try that playstyle.

That's because the Wanderer playstyle of "dude just hit and pogo and hit and pogo and " is way better at crowd control than Hunter's hit and run gimmick, and crowd fights are the hardest part in the game because you've got no iframes. When it's one on one you can use whatever you think is most fun but when tyou're getting ganked you need all the help you can get. Your silk arts and tools are both very expensive. Having a down pogo makes encounters like Coral Tower and Court of Crows so much easier it's not even funny. TLDR give me both a down pogo and diagonal pogo on Hunter and watch me go crazy. I want to be able to go cuhrazy more than I want the game to be harder.

No crest on its own is good for crowd control. Skills are for crowd control, but you're right that Wanderer does let you just burst down a particular problem enemy if that's really what you care about. I never really felt a need to prioritise certain enemies though.
>>
>>721680041
imo thread storm is underrated for crowd control. It cancels out most projectiles and you can mash it to get more damage out. It is by far one of the best sources of damage and aoe in the game, it's just that game feels heavily more focused on healing/tool usage when you fuck up

Thread Storm is just the most powerful spell if you have a large enough window. The fact you can extend its duration by mashing the button, and it doesn't cost more is disgustingly powerful. Might be an issue with Wanderer, true. With hunter you always have enough range to hit them. There's actually an invisible wall for the fleas just beyond the edge so when you hit them that far they lose all horizontal momentum and drop conveniently in range.

Granny Silk elevates some bugs into being weavers, similarly to what the Pale King did in Hallownest. She convinces them they're gods.
With her weaver army in tow, she conquers all the surrounding lands and destroys them to build the Citadel. She establishes a slave culture where the locals are enthralled both physically and spiritually (via a fake religion) and worship the weavers as gods.
For a time, the weavers live as the demigod rulers of this system. But they eventually find out they aren't literally gods. Presumably once they realize they can't actually control time and whatever the fuck other divine powers they were supposed to have.
In revenge, the weavers put Granny in an enchanted eternal sleep. They convert the Citadel into a gigantic city-sized musical instrument to keep the lullaby going, and turn the slave religion into being one where the bugs sing an eternal chorus (literally) to keep her asleep.
The weavers leave a skeleton crew to ensure the machinery keeps running, but otherwise bounce. The surrounding bugs take over.
Because Granny is asleep and no longer supplying silk, and the weavers themselves are gone, and also because none of the slave bugs really know how any of this shit works, the Citadel falls into disrepair. By the time of the game, it's falling apart and practically deserted.
The skeleton crew weavers die off because they have fertility problems, nobody's left around to supervise things and the indoctrinated madmen bugs control the asylum.
Since everything's falling apart, the seal on Granny starts failing and she begins thrashing in her sleep. Since the crazy bugs have spent generations injecting themselves with silk to make the immortal music cult more literal, she's able to infect them with mind control while sleeping.
She seethes so hard in her sleep over her deadbeat weaver daughters that this is why all the zombified bugs want to kill you.

At some point, Granny spins some kids out of pure silk while sleeping to be replacements for her estranged daughters. That's really it. Is there any reason given as to why they choose to leave their shining utopia and how they ended up going extinct? Also is Silk directly controlling the bugs hunting for Weaver spawn? Seems a little to organized for her to be doing unconsciously, and how does it even benefit her? Also what was Lace doing during all this?

>Granny spins some kids out of pure silk while sleeping to be replacements for her estranged daughters.
I was able to pick up the rest about Lace and her actions against Hornet, but I suppose it does make sense that Silk would be able to spin children out of sheer subconscious desire.
However I do think that Silk could have built Phantom and Lace while still ruling over Pharloom with the Weavers, maybe her obsession with making even more children could have been what made the Weavers realize that something was amiss.
>>
>>721685605
The weavers ran because they knew that Granny would inevitably escape one day and didn't want to be anywhere close when that happened. It's not clear if she's personally ordering the weaver hunts, but the best explanation for why it's happening is that the weavers are being enslaved to produce silk for the citadel because they can't use Granny's (presumably out of fear of waking her up). Lace was just vibing and being Generic Brand Hornet guarding the citadel to earn browny points with mamma.
>>
I really thought Phantom would be more important than a random optional boss from her being a steam trading card and also connected to Lace
>>
>>721685605
>I thought the Weavers were somehow wiped out when the regular bugs took over.
The whole reason the Weavers made Weavenests was to avoid Silk's gaze while they plotted against her in the dark. There's also that one map that highlights exits from Pharloom, implying that they all just booked it once they were sure Silk was contained well enough for them to escape.
>>
>>721685784
I thought the Conductors ordered it because they were running out of silk, the gramma was waking up due to so much of it having been taken already

Lace hates her mom for seemingly not giving a shit about her, and after GMS let Phantom wither away and die she's reasonably afraid that GMS doesn't actually care if she lives or dies, but she's still desperate for the attention, love, and validation regardless.
She sees Hornet being brought into Pharloom as GMS trying to replace her with a more perfect daughter, so she tries to kill Hornet to prevent that from happening. When that plan fails, she decides to spite her mother one last time by protecting Hornet at her expense.

It would be a lot more complicated since the number of neural pathways is orders of magnitudes larger.
We were recently able to fully digitise a fly's brain, (by slicing it up into lots of tiny layers and scanning each one), so we actually know what each combination of signals does. I think they even made an interfaceable 3d model you can use, and just activate regions to see for instance which limbs get activated.
They were able to replicate the entire process of sucking up food through neural signals.

Was there some dumb theory about pk?
>>
Could Team Cherry even make a third game without having everything be infected by some kind of infection/curse? Seems like that's their bread and butter.

He thought the Knight was a reincarnation of the Pale King, forgetting that the two were in the same place during the birthplace cutscene

I don't remember this, got a pic?

It's the easiest way to make an entire world with varied creatures that all want to kill you but is also not some alien hellscape with little to no civilization
Even Metroid games have to resort to that pretty often since "space pirate outpost on hostile australia planet" can wear pretty thin

Bugs flocked to Pharloom too. Even ones unaffected by the silk.

How much of the "you're not even allowed to die" dystopia was her? Because if she was always that much of a control freak I could understand the weavers turning on her. But if that was all them, then I have no idea what their problem was.

>region locked in the middle of a violent war between several kingdoms led by a pantheon of rival gods
>MC must unite or conquer the kingdoms in face of an impending disaster that threatens to eradicate all bugs

>Could fromsoft even make a third game without having everything be infected by some kind of infection/curse? Seems like that's their bread and butter.
Though there's always ways around it. Either wild beasts, enemy kingdoms, etc. though we do still have the void and lifeblood as infection sources to ruin kingdoms.

>I don't remember the Pale King building a supermassive industrial hellscape and killing off the surrounding regions and peoples via lifelong servitude
The Weavers and Conductors did that. Pharloom used to be bursting with song all dedicated to keep Grandmother Silk asleep.

normally i just figure shit out but i use the interactive map when i forget where something is or look up where to go when i'm really tired bc i'll play for hours at a time. got about 40 hours still in act 2
i admit i do hate accidentally spoiling something, it's a rough trade off for saving some time but it still feels good to play/experience stuff regardless of spoilers

I used to think Hornet's arc was opposite of the Pale King's (being that she actually stuck around to fix the kingdom rather than run away) but, yeah I forgot, foresight is fixed. There really was nothing he could do.

Pharloom would have worked just as well if they all went after you because the religion they've been indoctrinated into for generations told them you need to be captured/killed
>>
>>721688187
Void has already been touched on plenty in both games, and lifeblood doesn't really seem aggressive or malevolent at all
>>
>>721688131
This is also what I was thinking. They've had a kingdom destroyed by disease/a force of nature and one destroyed by corruption, infighting, and mismanagement. Rounding it out with kingdoms being destroyed by external conflict would make a lot of sense.
And it would provide an excuse for varied environments and enemy types.

Were you talking about
>Even long departed, We feel the afterglow of the God-power that sat this throne... It lays heavy upon this kingdom.
That lingering power alone was beacon enough to draw Us to Hallownest. How bright it must have been to mortal bug stood before it.
Seems like it could mean both left and died

Honestly the only faction that needs some exploration right now is the steel fuck kingdom

Unless you have a kingdom overdosed on lifeblood

some enemies/attacks for 2 damage are bullshit, some are fair. environmental damage for 2 is total bullshit except certain ones like lava.
but it's okay. it's there to reinforce your skill especially since early game your stuck at 5-6hp. not getting hit is super important.
git gud or get fucked

Isn't it a bit of a contradiction to say it's erased so completely and also lingering so much it attracted them?

Imagine a game set in a huge kingdom that is losing its grip on its outer realms. The areas on the outside are all crawling with rebel factions leading nationalist uprisings, and the core areas in the centre of the kingdom are crawling with the imperial guard or whatever, and in the areas inbetween you can find both types fighting eachother. Either side will kill you on sight because they dont know who you are, and you are some poor kid from a slave race of bugs that everyone treats like shit, but one day you had a premonition of your tribe's god saying that you will be the one to end the war and unite the kingdom. Holy fuark, I need to email Team Cherry or something.
