Beyond any political grievances, I just think the theme behind this story is boring and outright Not Scary. It's not relatable either. Problem is not the female protagonist, it's not feminism, misandry or the plight of women. It's just not interesting. For comparison look at Angela's story. There's a grim, gritty tone to it that f lacks despite being so similar. f talks about oppression and fear but never presents it in even the simplest way. Instead it's more like a reverse harem power fantasy where a woman has men fighting over her. SH1 story is straight forward JHorror that involves supernatural events that don't have an explanation. A lot of it is vague and left to interpretation which makes it good.

People didn't understand SH1 because they were too stupid to listen to the dialogue in game and read the memos. You don't need someone to explain everything for you. It's not THAT deep.

The biggest failure of SH1 is you will almost certainly get the BAD ending the first play through.

Problem is Hinako we see everything through Hinako's eyes and she is on the drugs so we cannot tell what is real or not. The first ending blames the paranormal events are the drug's fault. The good ending blames the paranormal events on the sulfur vents. The bad ending blames it on some elixir K gives her.

The true ending doesn't give a reason so maybe the implication is Inari is the cause. Inari's ritual power combined with Hinako's powers mixed with the drugs combine to create the nightmare she is experiencing in both worlds. Except the real world is still her wedding ceremony and she isn't 16 anymore. So she is obviously still hallucinating. Maybe the final cutscene blames it on the power of the town? I still don't fully understand the cause of the nightmare and monsters in the true ending. Maybe just another SH2 copy where the town feels her torment and starts creating monsters in the real world? And the dream sequences are just dream sequences in her mind/the spirit world?

If someone can explain the timeline and what is real or not in the true ending please do.

So spiritual powers of Ebisugaoka are implied to be real and fox cult is implied to be real or at least rumoured.

So spiritual power + cult + drugs = full silent hill otherworld experience. It isn't exactly important what drugs she takes as long as the source of spiritual power is the town in every scenario.

but the best i can think of is, she is early 20s about to be married in her hometown, and is nervous because she doesn't know the guy and hates her family, then shu gives her drugs to fuck her up so the wedding will go badly or something,

but the drugs are magical drugs that let you communicate with the spirit world, so hinako goes tripping through the town, possibly also moving through the 'other world' occasionally, but its unclear which times she's tripping or what's other world, but either way then there's some bullshit about how hinako is actual a naruto-class chosen one, and her husband (fox-man) is a descendent of some god-blood or god-blessed clan. and some implication that the god of the clan stops the geysers in the town from farting poison gas all over the town.

and then when she comes back to reality, she can decide to go through with the wedding, run away from the wedding, kill everyone, or talk to fox-man and ask him to delay the wedding until they get to know each other better (to try to at least humor the concept of their freedoms)

but either way it doesnt make sense to me because you can choose to not take the drugs. there are also things that are clearly symbolic but also make no sense of being only delusions, like why in only one of the endings its mentioned that the fart geysers explode and kill everyone
