I'm very impressed with the hate game key cards are getting. I wish we had the same push-back when disc only partially had the game on them.

>why is nintendo killing itself like this?
There were rumors of them hiring some company to produce nand chips for switch carts, but they might be for switch 1.
But being honest here, they brought this upon themselves, selling a literal cart that doesn't have anything inside was going to flop miserably, it looks like they haven't learned anything from the EGS failure and every other time a platform listened to developers instead of the end user.

yep checks out

its a different thing, but this reminds me of how for a while a lot of big AAA games had a free code inside for a bit of content that existed for the sole purpose of fucking over used copies of the game
>>
These retards (nintendo) had actually convinced people to buy WORST versions of the games for the switch 1 due to the physical. Make no mistake, a lot of the people buying a ton of switch 1 3rd party games also have a ps5 or a PC. But nintendo still had them buying the games for the switch, due to the carts.
What do they do in the switch 2? they give them the final reason to ditch buying 3rd party for the switch
fucking idiots, this will bite them in the ass in long run, big time
>>
>ports
>game key cards
>full price
Too many downsides.
If you want Raidou you just buy the original Switch version and maybe grab the upgrade in the store. No one wants to support the key card shit. Just like no one ever buys the code box garbage.
In case of many of those Switch 2 releases many are also often not recent releases so people already played them - and why would i pay extra to a worse version of a game i already know?
The games which actually did sell well on SW2 break that rule. Cyberpunk did well and that game is on a real cartridge. And Rune Factory also sold decently being new as well as a cartridge game.

total keycard death
>>

They figured their retard cult consumers would just swallow down the death of physical games, but they massively took them for granted and now no one buys Switch 2 games at all outside of MKW and DKB

he doesn't know...

I was thinking Switch2 would be my last Nintendo console, but I might not even go past Switch1.
>>
It's funny the third parties don't ask themselves why Nintendo isn't using game key cards.

It's because they know the customer will hate that shit.
>>
>>721740713
There was pushback but it was silent. Since og switch was released, physical releases on switch were always selling better than on other consoles. Even multiplats that worked worse on switch 1 than on ps4 were still getting better box sales on switch.

Now, with switch 2 fucking physical games up, people are more vocal about the issue because there is no place to escape.

Anyway, I think they are shooting themselves in the foot. Demand on physical games, movies and music started rising because of gen alpha preferences towards physical media.

$2 what the fuck they must really have not sold a single copy until that clearance

kek he thinks he has a choice.
either play switch 1 graohics on your 500 dollar new console or own nothing, that's the choice

Switch 2 case arts look so squished now, I didn't think it would made this much a difference.

They tell themselves that the cartridges are Nintendos own tech so its cheaper for them to get.
Some cases are forgivable like FF7Remake - that game doesn't fit on a 64gb cartridge and trying to make it fit on one would make the game just worse overall. But SE as well as other publishers like SEGA have a lot of games which do not hit that limit at all and still get key cards. Thats when they are argue with the waste of space and costs - but even games which are closer to the 64gb get keycards anyway.
They just wanna save the few bucks the actual cartridge costs but funfact: Turns out losing a bit money with cartridges would probably result into higher profits than doing game key cards and have no one buy those games at all.

Look at the number of reviews you dumbfuck.
>>
>>721744253
they could totally make it fit if they compressed it correctly.
>>
>>721744340
wow 11!
means nothing you fucking retard
>>
>>721744362
Most of the FF7R size comes from the cutscenes. Easy to shrink but people also shit hard on the game if it dropped with 720p cutscenes.

What does Nintendo have to do with 3rd parties making retarded decisions?
>>
>>721744623
they gave them a good reason to shit on the consumer
>>
>>721737709
who cares they haven't made a good game since the wii
>>
>>721737709
Game key cards cratering in price unironically makes up for how worthless they are as "physical" releases. I hope it will be easy to find some games for much cheaper than they get discounted the eShop.
>>
>>721738075
Split Fiction on Switch 2 isn't even a game key card, it's a code in a box.
>>
>>721738075
ain't no way this is real
>>
>>721743960
I seriously don't understand this. We know developers aren't forced not to offer upgrades if they put a Switch 2 version out on a game key card because there are cases like Hogwarts Legacy where you can upgrade from the Switch 1 physical, so why the hell don't they do it as a compromise for people who really want a physical copy?
>>
>>721745120
mindbroken
>>
>>721744479
it means more people bought the game on switch 2 than switch 1, invalidating OP's point
>>
>>721743960
Wtf.
>>
>>721746535
No it doesn't. That's correlation. And the sample size is really small.
