What's your favorite class in vidya?
>>
Shapeshifters and Summoners usually. I'm pissed off that so many games get druids wrong.
>>
Cleric
>Wields maces, swords, and great shields.
>Can use healing spells, utility spells, cleansing spells, revival spells, and light damaging spells.
>Can channel lightning, death, trick, etc.

Honestly I can't even blame you faggots, wizards are about creative problem solving but most devs can't be bothered creating interactive puzzles with multiple solutions with various diverse spells and just make wizard the fireball spamming goblin.

Wizards are the -opposite- of "creative problem solving."
Their whole gimmick is "I cast "Specific Solution to This Particular Problem."" they have a fucking spell for everything, one that does any possible thing any other class was designed to specialize in, but the wizard does it just by jerking off their magic staff for a moment.
>>
>>721900010
I would like more shapeshifter classes that aren't faggy druids.

Monk. It's universally shit, except in Diablo 3, but the entire game was shit instead.

This. Anyone who says old school D&D was about creative problem solving instead of looking at your sheet for the answer is a fucking liar.
>>
>>721904918
it's the curse of ranger, it's a job and not an actual martial discipline or even really a suggestion of skills, plus its experienced woodsman vibe can be easily accomplished by literally any other character class with the right background but most especially druid and rogue/thief or archers

D&D it's functionally a halfway point between fighter, rogue and druid, off the top of my head the only reason ranger even really persists in public consciousness is because of drizzt
>>
>>721899893
I hate classes slop. I play mage in heavy armor, and crush heads with mace, and do everything else with spells.
>>
>>721899893
Paladins, Warriors, Dark/Death Knights, really any class that allows me to wield a giant sword.

Also something like a Battle Mage, infusing your weapons with elements to fight with, but too little games do this.

elden ring is funny with the entire faction of carian royalty entirely comprised of battle mages and sorcerers and knights with staff-swords, and then there are actual "battlemage" enemies whose only other distinction from normal sorcerers (almost entirely unarmored, uses a staff) is they have really tall hoods and they have two very specific sorceries, one that does a big hammer smash and the other that lobs an explosive arcing projectile and is inspired by cannons

It has literally never been anything else. The entire point is the lack of outer bounds which exist in video games.

Oh the gm has attacked us with ghosts? I trap them in my anti ghost bubble which I had prepared while the paladin and the cleric prepare to smite and turn.
Oh the gm is using some sort of water trap? I cast the trivially acquired spell to breathe under water that for some reason fighters rogues etc can never learn, no matter what.

It is the shit eating grin class.

>for some reason fighters rogues etc can never learn
I mean, those are not spellcasting classes, so what's the problem? It's only in nu d&d that everyone can cast magic no problem, before that to even learn to read some fucking scrolls you had to know some magic alphabet and do some training on how to actually read it.

The issue with Wizards is that you need to essentially commit your entire engine to a robust magic system to make them feel right and at that point you might as well just make wizard the only playstyle.
see: Noita

>>721901981
I think the worst shit are those spells that specifically just exist to solve what could otherwise be a fun long term obstacle.
>Oh someone got cursed? Well in order to undo the curse you must... oh, you Wizard prepared "Remove Curse"? ok....
You either have to bend the knee to that bullshit and just stop using curses as a plot point, or undermine the spell by making curses that can't be broken with Remove Curse, making the spell feel pointless and arbitrary and punishing the Wizard for preparing it. Same for any number of lazy fucking "solve this specific problem" spells that exist because nerds like to jerk off over the all-mighty bookworm power fantasy.

No no no, Warmage is just a normal Wizard with armor and maybe a focus on combat spells. Sword and magic hybrid doesn't really have a set name, Spellsword or Arcane/Magic/Dark/Eldritch Knight is popular as an official name but you'll hear older gamers refer to them as Gish builds/classes.

I hate that no game has really done barbarians right. They all just end up being "Warrior but attack animations look angry and then you press a button to roar and turn red for x amount of time for extra damage"
Give me a musou with a grading system akin to DMC.
I want a gradual build-up of battle fervor, and I want it to actively encourage and reward me for chaining my way through enemies and staying in active combat.
I want to see my character's attacks evolve as the fight continues. From practiced, controlled swings to deliver fatal wounds to heavy, almost flailing power strikes delivered with the sole intent of chopping enemies into smaller pieces
I want to see my muscles bulge and swell, and hear my breathing become more ragged and feral; audio-visual feedback of the adrenaline fueling my 1-man death machine. I start from being able to take down 2-3 small enemies at a time to cleaving down a dozen small fry with one chaotic whirl of my weapon, sending their corpses flying backwards into those unfortunate enough to be next in line for the blender.
I want giant enemies as fun mini-bosses that give me a variety of approaches to taken down. From facing them head on and dodging attacks to cut them down bit by bit, to leaping onto them from above or throwing myself onto their back and climbing my way up to their head to gouge out their eyes and rendering them blind.

If Capcom can turn a franchise out of looking as cool as possible when fighting, surely someone can do the same with complete and utter carnage.
