Permadeath mode. You die, save file gets deleted. There are ways to avoid the save file deletion without keeping save backups, most famous way is escape quit when you are close to dying.

Is does go a fair bit longer than it really needs to though. No single section is that hard, but you do have to get annoying consistent at the same clawline jumps over and over.

Also what the other anon said, junkie mode was made for platforming over spikes. You'll obviously have to start over after a fuckup, but only from your last safe platform since health regens so quickly.

That's the ONE complaint about HK I agree with. Early game and exploration is way too limited.
But I get why it's this way. Team Cherry didn't have 7 years of financial security to make HK like they had with Silksong, so they made HK as big as they could, then purposefuly slowed you down a bit at the start so you wouldn't immediately realize how compact the world really is. Once you get all the movement upgrades, travel becomes extremely fast, but because you had to work for it, it creates an illusion that it's because of your new powers and not because the world isn't as big as it seemed.

It did feel a little off that she's completely absent for so long. I liked her well enough after her dialogue at the end of her second fight and her showing up to save you but it woulda been nice if she had made more appearances throughout the game taunting you cryptically. It would have made the reveal that she's jealous of Hornet for being more useful to grandmother silk than her more impactful.

It's supposed to intimidate you. If you keep being aggressive, you will make it your bitch. Dash towards it and hit it with sprint attacks. It has 5 attack types and all are easy to dodge. Look where the needles/explosions will go and dash/jump away, then the second they land/go away hit the fucker with a dash attack. Dush under it when it's in the air, then dash back to hit it. Soam attacks when it stands still for a moment and summons needles or tries to bind. Phase 2 just adds some speed and rune explosions (easy to dash away from or jump over). Repeat.

I went for the earliest possible wanderer, got the fractured mask after getting sprint and then went up bellhart through shellwood, used the speedrun route from bellhart onwards to clear the game since I wanted the speedrun achievement and then I started clearing the map by going into deep docks first for the flintstone tool (I used the dart tool and the healing protection until this point).

Coral Tower does not suck. It's just less good than Trial of the Fool because the arena modifications are less interesting.

The standard bearer for "shitty silksong arena matches" should be High Halls, High Halls is actually pretty ass, most of the enemies are irritating to fight because they fly, the finale is borderline bullshit without tool spam (bad luck with attack pattern RNG can well and truly make it unwinnable) and it's mandatory for rolling the credits.

Coral Tower is optional, most of the enemies are fun to fight, and the environments being dynamic makes each encounter feel interesting, at least by the third chamber (the first two drag a little bit, but that was true of Trial of the Fool as well, the beginning was basically a warm up).

Imagine unironically getting tilted at Bloody Palace.

The game establishes that GMS was able to take over so handily because bugs were actively injecting silk, but what does this mean for all the Pilgrims that come from lands beyond and have never touched silk in their lives. I'd assume it's GMS overpowering them anyways now that she's present in the kingdom, but we see what it looks like when she summons her threads to affect an area, and it's nothing like that. It's not like she's shown to be using a beacon like the Pale King either.

Not to mention, what of Garmond and Zaza. Their village or any ruins thereof aren't shown in the game, and imply her reach has gone even further beyond Pharloom unless they're somehow from the Nameless Village on the surface

A statement of fact? Enemy placements are sometimes randomized in Silksong. If you've done the Groal runback you know it because the room right before Groal has very irritating randomized Stiltkin spawns. The way enemies appear when you enter a room is not guaranteed. Some enemies have fixed locations, some enemies appear at random. RNG also dictates the appearance of the silk stealing spiders in High Halls and Choral Chambers. It also dictates which adds are choses by bosses that can pull multiple ones; it determines the spine patterns on Hokers. There are quite a few things that are randomized in the game when it comes to how enemies appear, and it prevents you from doing runbacks by rote.

Also, the closest analogue to the "endless tower of combat" concept would be the Flea Carnival minigames, as those are all endless. And of course, in all 3 of them, the fleas that appear do so randomly, there is no predictable pattern. It's also the same concept as HK's hidden Eternal Ordeal challenge, which spawns an endless randomized wave of Zotelings as a survival gauntlet.

Literally all I'm asking for is for a set of arena patterns to be matched to this. Just like how Trial of the Fool would sometimes make the floor spikes and add 4 platforms in the middle, or narrow the walls and drop the ceiling, or anything else. Make up a set of those and pair it off with the randomized enemy placements. Again, this is nothing new; Flea Dodge uses procedural randomization to set platforms. The logic is all already there in the game, and you don't bitch about it. But as soon as the word "roguelike" gets mentioned in conjunction with the notion of "wave randomization in an endless challenge" you go into spergout mode.

Bardoon describes it the most. The cast-off shell you find in Kingdom's Edge is his former body: the old body died so he could take on the new one. Other characters in the game still refer to the Pale King as a Wyrm, such as Grimm, the Godseeker, and HK's Mask Maker.

What is the hang up with that word choice? If the game made you walk from the wave 1 room to the wave 2 room instead of changing the layout of the room around you, would that suddenly fundamentally change what we were discussing? It's still the same thing, breaking a combat arena into sub-components and using an algorithm to randomly combine them to make the arena the player fights in. The average person understands the word roguelike to mean "the map generates randomly on each run through, and when you die you have to start from the beginning", which is exactly what we're describing here. If you're one of those people who thinks that it only counts if it's an ASCII art RPG, sorry for not sating your hyperspecific genre autism, I'm sure you also have a 2000 character post to explain why Silksong is not in fact a "metroidvania".

All of the Vessels, including the Knight, are the spawn of the Pale King and White Lady. The White Lady describes this, when you get the White Fragment in the palace then the description says "Soul of Wyrm, Soul of root, Heart of Void." Hornet mentions the Abyss as the place of the Knight's birth, along with the rest of the vessels.

It'll be the former Pale King in a new body. Bardoom straight up says that casting off one body is just the creation of another for his species. He never stopped being a Wyrm, he just got smaller. So after seeing his plan fail (seemingly) and his kingdom fall he cast off his kingly body and fucked off in a new one.
