I really like the switch 2.
>>
Played a bunch of Mario Kart World and I think it's great but it definitely does lack longevity. The open world is great but it feels like little more than a novelty since they didn't really do a lot to meaningfully integrate it into the gameplay. Knockout Tours being way more dynamic instead of so heavily structured would go a LONG way in keeping the game fresh.

Bought Bravely Default but didn't get very far. It's cool so far though, the combat gimmick is fun. Also been playing a bunch of my Switch backlog (Void Terrarium 2 especially). Pokemon Violet in 60fps is nice after playing it so much on the original Switch.

I have about 80 hours in the Gamecube collection so far, basically entirely from Wind Waker and F-Zero. Done a full 40 hour Wind Waker playthrough and am currently at 35+ hours in F-Zero. I want to get the AX tracks and only thing left for me to do is beat Diamond Cup on Master. Excited for the both Pokemon RPGs and Fire Emblem to come too.

Will be getting Pokemon Legends Z-A, Kirby Air Riders and Metroid Prime 4 this year and Fire Emblem next year. It's a cool system and has a lot I like about it, really is just a refresh of the Switch but that's what I wanted out of it honestly.
>>

Neat, did your buy or steal one yet?
Whadayaplayin?
>>
i like it but i never had a switch 1, so i don't have to compare it to it

>The open world is great but it feels like little more than a novelty since they didn't really do a lot to meaningfully integrate it into the gameplay
yeah, i spent a day wandering around and i felt like i had seen everything it had to offer.
>>
>>722000776
I really like mario kart world. It has its flaws but I didn't find the intermission tracks boring at all. I love rail grinding and bouncing off of walls
>>722000782
I bought one. I've been playing mkw and the snes collection. I downloaded fortnite to test out the mouse aiming and it actually isn't bad at all. I'm landing headsets really easily. I hope they do a lot with the mouse feature in the future. Thinking about getting donkey kong or cyberpunk
>>
When I get one the only games I’m going to get are Elden Ring, FF7 Remake, and any Atelier games. So basically games I already played lol.
>>
>>722000318
I unironically think it's the best nintendo hardware since the gamecube
>>
>>722000776
>Knockout Tours being way more dynamic instead of so heavily structured would go a LONG way in keeping the game fresh.
I really wish they let us chain whatever 6 tracks we wanted together to make a Knockout tour, but I am guessing that they were not able to properly program that in, and that is why we're stuck with the preset options.
>>
>>722000318
I never got a Switch 1 but I got a Switch 2.
Which SW1 games should I check out?
>>
Do you think by the Switch 3 comes out Nintendo will have figured out how to raise the resolution above 720p?
>>
By the way, am I misremembering or did Nintendo explicitly use MKW footage while talking about 120FPS? I swear I remember them talking "you can either have 120FPS, or 4K 60FPS", and there was MKW footage in the background
Makes MKW being 60FPS a little dumb
>>
>>722003470
>landing headsets
*headshots
>>
>>722003621
seems like MKW was finished in the nick of time for release, and they're just building on extra options. i doubt putting in a map for the p switch was just omitted, seems more like they just needed more time for it.
>>
>>722000318
The economy went to shit real hard where I live... Switch 1 will probably be the last console I own and I will stay with my PC and my old consoles... I wish I could enjoy this generation... Maybe I will be able to buy one in a few years...

Same. It gets alot of backlash in all areas but it's already become my primary console to play on besides the Switch OLED for my second set of beefy storage heavy games. I've played games that use to struggle on the Switch 1 now run perfectly fine and some titles that couldn't hit the 60 stay nice and stable. Year 1 is rough though and most that have been in the switch ecosystem should wait at least a year for exclusives while the ones that are not in the ecosystem will reap the rewards for waiting.
>>
>>722003778
No, in fact, nothing was on screen when they talked about 120fps. You might be conflating it with when they were showing HDR.
>>
I heard people bitching about the battery life but it's literally just about the same as the steam deck
>>

I'm actually glad that they aren't re-releasing switch 1 games, but making some of them have DLC that's compatible with the switch 1 carts. didn't think kirby would get one, but its actually pretty good.

I probably will get one at some point because i'm a hopeless nintenfriend. But i didn't like the whole HDR thing when I tried it on my friend's big TV.

I read things before and it really surprised me because I didn't think it'd be that bad, but it was very distracting. Any ideas about that?
>>
>>722000318
I have only played 3 games on it:
-MK World (fun for a while but I dont care anymore, maybe when a DLC comes out)
-Bananza (enjoyed it but not as much as I thought, dont care about the DLC)
-Pikmin 3 (had it on my backlog, fun game but short)

I dont know what else to do with the thing, I play 3rd parties on PS5. I was midly interested in Pokemon ZA but the city looks soulless as fuck. Kirby and Metroid look meh, dont care about Zelda musou. I replayed Galaxy games last year so I dont know if I want to spend 70USD on that, and Mario Tennis looks fun but its put next year.
>>

It makes an anon wonder what could lead an anon to fabricate such a absurd claim
>>
>>722004442
i really enjoy MKW and DKB
the joycons are much bigger, more comfortable than the switch 1's joycons
super excited for kirby air riders
>>
Basically me so far:
>$450+$80 for MKW physical
>$70 for DK
>Paid for TotK and Kirby upgrades, didn't pay for BotW since I only have that on Wii U
>Kirby bonus levels were cute, 60fps is way better
>Generally all Switch games load and run better, which is very nice.
>The 2D Zeldas finally aren't dropping frames
>Same with Warriors games
>GameShare is neat for local multiplayer, not sure if it'll ever support any big-name games. Would have been nice kd MKWorld was an option.

Does this actually warrant the price?

I saw there was more content than was advertised and might pick it up, but 30 bucks feels a bit excessive.
>>
>>722004558
Kind of depends on the way you view it. If you are just looking for primary exclusive games year 1 then you have Mario Kart, DK, Kirby and the zelda game to look forward to. (Won't count Metroid and Pokemon because you can get those on the Switch 1) If we are talking in terms of hardware and overall games running on the system I'd agree year 1 ain't too bad. Then again I might be bias because I really love the Switch 2 from day one way more then the experience with PS5 day one.

>feels like people completely forgot how dire console first years are, switch 2 is pretty good all things considered

This. It's mindboggling to see people be this upset over Switch 2's catalogue when it's got a couple of 1st party exclusives 2 months in. Like, PS5, XBox Series and even switch 1 had exponentially worse first months. I don't even have one myself because i can't afford it for now, but the games are alright. I really don't know what the fuzz is all about.

>>
I like mine too, only had it for about 2 weeks now.
First console I bought since the Xbox 360, been a PC gamer since then.
Bought it for a couple reasons:
Started a family and this is an easy way to play together. Playing PC with 4 people is just a hassle
NSO is fun for the retro games. Again I used to emulate years back but playing on a regular tv and with the ease of a console is great. been playing Breath of Fire, Windwaker and all that.
And of course the Nintendo exclusives. Mario Kart World is great fun, Mario party Jamboree is coming soon plus I have all the Zelda games I missed out on to play.

All in all a good buy, only thing is the battery life is shit. That I do dislike a lot but I mostly play docked.
>>
>>722004854
HDR on TVs is a pain in the butt to calibrate right. I think it's better to calibrate the TV with a decent blu-ray player than it is the Switch 2.
>>
>>722004395
>>722004462
Aside from the obvious zelda/mario/dkc, anything else? I know I can just google "quintessential Switch games" or something but I wanted to see if there was anything else slightly more obscure.

It felt great to replace my old drifting 2017 Switch. The build quality is so much better too.
MK World is good, but I'm waiting for more courses.
Bananza is probably the best game I've played this decade.
Playing Pokemon Z-A and Prime 4 at respectable resolutions is will be great.
Not really interested in Hyrule Warriors or Air Riders.
I'm playing TitS Remake with the upgrade right now.
>>
>>722000318
literally playing it daily since I got it so I confirm that I like mine too. Excited to play/replay FFT, P3R, Pokémon AZ and Ryza DX on it.
only wish it could get some of the gachas I play too like wuwa or BA so I could just play it forever
>>
I want to play Dragon Quest Builders 2 again but I need to tackle other games. Wish Builders 1 didn't freeze half the time on Switch 2.
>>
>>722014336
according to the internet, Builders 2 runs great on the Switch 2. Way better than the SW1. I'd try myself but I already played that game to death.
>>
>>722004085
Year 1 is actually great, there’s just this odd 3 month gap before they launch a bunch of 1st parties with 2 weeks between each other
>>722005420
Maybe. It’s been a weird parabola of fun for me. Started okay, got really fun, and now feel a comedown as I unlock too many perks to really make a build in most high difficulty runs. Depends on how you like high challenge randomized roguelike speedrunny type of challenges
>>
>>722011086
but you can't message people and organize games on switch
>>
I really love Mario Kart World. Could use more tracks and particularly KO Tours, which should be relatively easy to make, but the core gameplay has kept me playing longer than any other kart racer. The parkour shit is so fun
>>

I've already replayed it.
>>
>>722016726

>>
I still haven't played knockout tour yet.
>>
>>722017995
Why not? It’s really fun, makes the stakes feel high the whole time and limits how much Mario Karting really affects you, since you guarantee a higher place every checkpoint
>>
>>722017384
it's a shame it doesn't have a survival sandbox mode. I'd play that shit forever, it's great

any games i should 100% pick up? i got the pokemon ZA bundle and will get zelda BOTW.
>>
>>722019251
Bananza for sure
>>
>>722000318
What is there to like about it? Mario Kart World sucks. Donkey Kong Bananza is its only decent game. Pokemon will suck, so there's nothing good even coming out for this thing until the last few weeks of the year.
>>
>>722018720
I wish there was a Builders 3 for Switch 2 that gives you a continent you can craft with few limits. Builders 1 was a PSP game. And Builders 2 had original Switch limits in mind. The only real bad news is the game will most likely be a game key card.

>>722018330

It's too expensive in Sweden. I just got an UMPC for that price and have now infinite games. Maybe I'll get one when it gets OLED and CFW but even then it would still be inferior to my existing handheld.
>>
>>722019538
>Mario Kart World sucks.
MKW is the best in the series why do you think it sucks? It has by far the best gameplay with the most amount of depth, best music, best graphics, best variety etc.
>>
>>722020112
Only people that don't have switch 2s cope by saying it's bad because they watched a youtube video
>>
>>722005420
It depends. It might really appeal to certain gamers, but I feel like most people will be paying for DK Island only to find that the majority of the experience is Emerald Rush which is just a recontextualization of existing content into a score attack mode with a few cosmetics to unlock and reused boss to cap it all off.

It's more complex than Balloon World, but it really could have been free, it would have been met with a lot more enthusiasm and the numerous people on the fence about Bananza might have been pushed over the edge. As it is now, it's just another symptom of Nintendo's greed.
>>
>>722020112
A lot of people really don't like the routes between tracks, a lot of people only really play Grand Prix, I imagine there is significant overlap between these groups.

The track design is actually really great, but if you only ever play Grand Prix or Knockout Tour you would never know. You'd need to play Versus Mode or Time Trials to even get the chance to actually learn the tracks.

Game needs an options for 3-lap Grand Prix.
>>
>>722020075
It's too expensive, period. They charge you to unlock the hardware you already paid for, it's fucking ridiculous. Upgrade my ass, jap kikes.
>>
>>722021585
All my currently owned Switch games are liable to turn in to an additional 20 dollar fee at any moment and it's honestly anti-hype.

I wasn't excited to see a Mario Wonder Switch 2 Edition at the previous Nintendo Direct, it's just groan enducing. 20 bucks for some upgrades that should have been free and some content you don't want to justify charging you for it. It's just bullshit.
>>
The resident evil 9 footage has me considering buying it on switch 2 that shit looked really smooth
>>
>>722020793
$10 or even $15 would have felt a lot more appropriate. It feels like a decent amount of work was put in, but it is exclusively reuse. And the mode balance is really skewed imo. Ba-none-za scales so much better that going for bananza build needs the stars to align

Don't worry, it sucks. Currently games still look like Switch 1 games but slightly higher res and maybe 60fps sometimes. I'm sure there will at least be minor hardware revisions for better battery, build quality, or screen the longer you wait. The backwards compatibility isn't perfect and the 1080p screen does not look good with 720p content; even the original switch has a better screen for games that run at 720p (incl BOTW, astral chain). It's also too big, same size as the steam deck.

I love the look of the red mage korok. I wonder how his sync strikes will work. Aren’t characters not supposed to see him? Or did AoC already deal with that with Hestu? Been a while
>>
>>722031229
fuck me, i had to buy the switch 1 copy cause the switch 2 copy wasn't made yet
great game btw. and the jap copy is entirely in english, no issues on my part.
>>
>>722031313
Aoc already dealt with that.
They can be seen when they want to be seen.
>>
>>722004439
I do think they should have released those game+dlc combos for $60 instead of $80 considering the base games are a bit old by now. BotW being $70 without the season pass is particularly egregious.
>>
>>722031758
but thankfully, some retail stores dropped the price of switch 1 physicals games, like kirby to 40 bucks.
>>
>>722030607
No disagreement there.
>>
weird thing i don't really hear about the switch 2 is that it allows all (or most) of the switch 1 controllers to be compatible. as well as allow almost any usb camera. so it really saves me on buying accessory for the system. all my 8bitdo controllers works great on it.
>>
>>722032604
You'll have to manually sync joycons and NES controllers with the sync button. But most other controllers can be synced via USB-C cable. Sadly Switch 1 controllers cannot wake the Switch 2 via home buttons. But they work if the console is on.
>>
>>722032986
Not a problem for me.
>>
>>722032604
I tried to get my King Kong Pro 2 work but i can't so i'm just going to buy a real pro controller
>>
>>722032604
is this the first time a console is naturally backwards compatible with the last consoles controller?
>>
I haven't touched mine in a few weeks but I have Pokemon pre-ordered.
>>
>>722032312
>but thankfully, some retail stores dropped the price of switch 1 physicals games, like kirby to 40 bucks.
God damn, what stores?
>>
>>722033413
Wii U used Wii remotes.
>>
>>722033271
gotta do a firmware update, then it'll work just fine
>>
>>722033549
i used this to find the deals
https://www.dekudeals.com/games?filter[format]=physical
>>
>>722033592
I did and it just keeps pressing L and R and randomly disconnects
>>
>>722033271
Have you tried desynching it from other devices yet?
>>
>>722033670
weird, sorry it didn't work out
>>
>>722033712
It's not synced on anything.
>>
>>722033776
Is there a way to format or factory reset the controller? You might have to do a clean install of firmware. Other than that I'm out of ideas.
>>
>>722004439
More upgrades would be nice. I was hoping Metroid Dread and Prime 4 would get them as prep for Prime 4.
>>
>>722033928
I don't know i'll maybe try again some time.

>Age of calamity easily has the best combat of any warriors game
I feel like you are the only other human that shares this opinion with me. Thank you so much, AOC is fucking awesome and is actually one of my favorite Zelda games. I hate that they are forcing Zelda on me, but I hope they let me unlock my boy clanker Link by the second or third level.
>>
I can't tell if my Joy-Con is drifting or not, seems to only do it for Mario Kart.
>>
>>722034207
did you check it in the stick recalibration option?
>>
>>722022714
Did that for Pokemon but Metroid Prime 4 has to be physical.
>>
>>722034207
Head to the controller options in the settings menu. There's an option that'll let you test/calibrate your sticks. Wiggle around to see if anything weird happens. Might need to clean your sticks.

Bravely Default nearly killed me with that awful real time intro that replaced the original's dual screen cgi. The character designs were butchered, at least the rest of the game retains the original's art direction.
>>722000318
Good, but not perfect, at least it's playable on a 4k tv unlike the NS1. We really need to hold third party games to higher standard than "it works" Cyberpunk is an atrocity compared to the Xbox One X version, shadows and textures are all over the place. Also I'm irked by the censorship in WWE 2K25, no cross-platform play is whatever, online is dead on 2k25, but removing the text editor and image upload features the other versions have is bullshit, the game already has a built-in profanity filter on other platforms.

I wanted to buy it but god damn the greed is unreal.
>>
>>722033745
I literally drag the update file to the controller and nothing happens.
>>
>>722034421
>>722034517
Didn't know that was a thing. Will check.
>>
>>722035205
just wait a year or two
you're not missing much at the moment anyway
>>
>>722035938
Odd, calibration is fine but even holding A in a straight line in Mario Kart in sandbox mode made him automatically turn left.
>>
>>722035963
Waiting won’t really do much for the price, particularly if he’s a burger
>>
>>722036247
Turn off smart steering.
>>
>>722036472
Pretty sure I checked that since my neice turns it on when she plays but I'll look again.
>>
>>722035963
The trend now is that consoles go UP in price instead of down. But at least (some) game prices will eventually go down.
>>
>>722036472
She left tilt controls on, fine now.
>>
>>722034150
I mainly played zelda in the first game. Shiekah slate was kino
>>

It might be gyro. That's what happened to me, anyway.
>>
Apparently you can aim with the camera in Mario Kart World. Which led to people assigning acceleration and brake to the GL/GR buttons. I really need to start learning advanced tech.
>>
>>722040382
There is shit loads of tech in that game
>>
what's the switch 2's random ass IP reboot, on the same level as Famicom Detective Club?
is there a chance for Ice Climber to get out of the NES? maybe an ice climber 99

Only if it’s styled like a gritty 80s arcade brawler with pixel blood and exaggerated death animations. I want Urban Champion: Requiem where you slam a guy into an alley dumpster and it's a stage transition. Give it rollback netcode and a 12-character roster with deep lore no one asked for.
