Capcom's booth had a signing, and you got a poster, and it was being signed by a very nice Japanese lady. I got my signed poster, thanked her and went on my way. >>722106147Considering after the events of the first game, he was completely lost and honestly Justice For All didn't really give him any true closure, Prosecutor's Gambit was literally a game he needed for his overall character development. Same way Trials and Tribulations gave Phoenix closure for a lot of things, despite the first game also being important to his past. >>722105259>>722106147All the retcons only made him worse off.Original Edgeworth>Mentored by the most ruthless prosecutor ever and he has no problem forging evidence or tampering with witnesses to get a guilty verdictReconned Edgeworth>Just wants to fight for truth and justice and the forged evidence reputation wasn't his fault. (Just ignore how he tampered with witnesses in 1-2 and 3-4)Prosecutor Gambit was just going over the same notes, except Edgeworth getting blocked by the most annoying people who's threats to take his badge finally lost its luster. Also the recton that even Von Karma wasn't entirely to blame for his penalty just made it even worse.
>>722108164Despite him never outright forging evidence, I still think it's clear he did shady shit because of his upbringing. Also, play Dual Destinies to see how fucking ruthless he can be while not being shady. The whole point of the game is literally that he won't become another Phoenix, he gave it a shot, but it's not for him. He chose his path but within that path he finally reconciled how he would proceed. He would fight just as hard to get a guilty verdict, but fairly, because that's the only way the true answer would be found. When both sides of the court actually give a shit and do it their all to make their point. Both sides have to play Devil's advocate, it's their job. The only difference is that both he and Phoenix know it's not actually about winning. The person you're describing as "fighting for truth and justice" is Klavier, he relents pretty easily, but Edgeworth will make sure every single possibility is exhausted to make sure there isn't a chance someone fucked up somewhere. Also, I never understood how Manfred's thing was a "retcon", the penalty was for his brutal police interrogation tactics which he signed off on. Just this time it was so blatantly exposed (by a cop no less) means he couldn't get away with it. There's probably plenty of shit he's done that's as bad or even worse that was swept under the rug, but this is the one time he couldn't get away with.
>>722107789I hope AA7 has more BDSM references
Are there any good AA clones to look for?Especially now during the Steam sale. I already played and completed Trials of Innocence like two months ago. And it did scratch that AA itch, but I want even more still. Also if you haven't played Trials yet then you should since it's pretty good even if the translation is sorta janky because the devs clearly stuck it through a machine translator and cleaned it up.
>>722110529>picNINTENDOSUE THIS MAN
>>722110529One of the scenarios in Shuten Order, plays like Ace Attorney and the final scenario has some of that gameplay come back.
>>722108164alternatively if yo want to talk about retcons for Edgeworth, those already happened in 1-5 but people celebrated it out of sheer not knowing the original context. It's why I've given up on remotely caring about retcons, not to mention as good as 3 is, it's filled with them.
probably the biggest retcon that no one talks about is the fact that the spirit medium stuff was all supposed to be bullshit but then for some reason they made it real
>>722110529Murders of the Yangze River is pretty much the best indie AA game i've played with it's only real issue being the colors being a tad too brown for my liking.Tyrion Cuthbert is alright enough, it's more or less a take on "what if AA was magical" and feels like a more proper version of what AA4 was going for, even if the budget is clearly much lower.
>>722109243We already got that in the first game though when he challenged Vasquez so his turnaround started after he suffered his first defeat.>>722110707That's my reference to the forged evidence rap, His duology only made the retcons worse
>>722110707>She's a Wrightworthfag Any opinion is immediately invalidated.
>>722110794So at first, it's just Pheonix imagining Maya as Mia?
>tfw no severely autistic shut-in neet gf
>>722110882If you think that him challenging Vasquez is all he needed for his character development, then you are severely retarded. At that point he hasn't even resolved his trauma from fifteen years ago and a childhood friend shows up out of fucking nowhere essentially forcing him to dredge up the past and suddenly he has no idea what to do. Like I said, the guy is lost by the end of the first game, because of course he would be. He only truly finds his footing in life again after Prosecutor's Gambit.
>>722110901wtf where did you get that fromfirst, i'm a man, second, i don't ship phoenix or edgeworth with anyone.3's retcons are mostly "turns out phoenix actually did sit on the witness stand before" "Mia had a BF that was a huge inspiration to her that she never talked about before" and "turns out Pearl had another set of cousins nobody mentioned before"
>>722110943Only Phoenix could actually see it, possibly because of his connection
>>722091375The case I was stuck on the most was 2-1.>victim wrote the killer's name on the ground with his own blood>OBJECTION the autopsy report says he broke his fucking neck so that's impossible>umm ackshually we believe he could still have done thatplease proceed with your defense now that all common sense is out the window
>>722102280This makes me wonder which victim had the most brutal death. It seems like most deaths in AA are either through shooting/stabbing which aren't *that* bad of a way to go, either that or blunt force trauma to the head.Although I seem to recall there were one or two arson cases? Being burned alive sounds terrible. I think the couple of impalements also could've been pretty horrifying depending on where they were impaled. Poisonings can also be very painful depending on which type of poison is used.
>>722111413Nothing wrong with that at all. You can survive a broken neck.
>>722106736
apollo justice is 5'5
>>722111212I don't know if Phoenix mentioned not being on the witness stand at some point, but if he did, then this is a retcon I don't care about because him having to go through that is genuinely one of the best parts of his characters and adds to his philosophy/morals further along with the class trial. Mia clearly tried to move on from Diego and it was a touchy subject (seen literally in the first case of Trials and Tribulations). I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Phoenix didn't know about him and it's not like she was around long enough for the player to have even been given a context for her to talk about him. As for Pearl, I'm sure she was born way after Dahlia and Iris left, so no shit no one would talk about it. Morgan is a selfish bitch who only cares about her bloodline and lineage in respects to Kurain, so she probably disowned them mentally after they left. The only person who would have a reason to bring them up is Mia, but there's a million reasons why she wouldn't have or even have known. How are these in any way bad?
>>722085545The victim WAS shot in the chest at 5pm but it wasn't fatal. This happened before they were taken to the underground bunker. The witness is telling the truth here and if you press that statement, the prosecution will reiterate that fact.HOWEVER the exact timing of that gunshot will be important for cornering the real culprit later.

>>722111845and that's why i don't like talking about retcons, people will inconsistently attack one set of them while defending the other.a retcon is a retcon.

>>722112078Don't believe I attacked any "retcon", and like I said, they're not even retcons.
>>722111943>>722112118Also, even if the cord was damaged you're assuming it's only possible for a complete transection occured. For example , you can have "posterior cord syndrome" that only affects the dorsal columns which carry propioception and balance.
>>722111447Probably Jack Hammer, getting hip tossed by Valdez onto that spiked fence. Basically a mortal kombat pit fatality
>>722111168You're a fucking idiot, original edgeworth before 1-5 and his games retconned him to hell and back did anything to get a guilty verdict, the fact he threw a lifeline to Phoenix even at the expense of his own case, is very clearly character development on his part.
>>722110794Your funny headcanon gets broken in the very first proper case retard.
>>722095224If you didn't learn to be on your toes after this testimony, you only had yourself to blame.
>>722113219One of the reasons I actually dislike Mia. Fucking whore.
>>722085546>>722085301I wonder how such a wide ass person would see the world with that small head assuming the body is normal and the head is microscopic, I can't imagine how a being like that would perceive things
>>722112468I'm not saying it's not character development, but it's not complete either. The man was insanely conflicted at that moment, and that internal conflict never went away because it was never resolved. Unlike Phoenix who had a chance to explore his role as a defense attorney in Justice For All and got closure for his past before he became a lawyer, Edgeworth never got that. He never got to truly explore what he originally wanted to do in life, he never got to understand how he truly felt about his role as a prosecutor because he was still living under Von Karma's shadow (even in Justice For All). The only true "retcon" that I think happened is the fact that he didn't actually forge evidence. Other than that, like I said, I am more than sure he did shady shit to get his guilty verdict (as you pointed out in your examples). Edgeworth's Von Karma creed was never truly killed until Prosecutor's Gambit, because there wasn't enough time to focus on him. The most he got was one trial as a prosecutor in Justice For All and then getting to LARP as a defense attorney for half a case. Again, Edgeworth at this point still has a conflict within him that has not been truly resolved.

Also the whole 'I'm only looking for the truth' for his games was total bullshit given he actively concealed Redd specifically tampering with the bell boy's testimony to tell him to omit it because it would make his case harder or concealing Dalia's real identity where Mia had to drag it out of him even though it should have been up and center. Even Von Karma got retcooned because his penalty wasn't entire his fault since he was given a shitty case due to Excelsius bungling it and then giving him a fake autopsy report. The whole thing was a shitshow.
>>722111447The prisoner guy from 3 poisoned himself because of a manipulative cunt, who also electrocuted another boyfriend of hersIt wasnt death but Maya was kidnapped and starved to death twice, or thrice if we consider medium hijacking as one.Acros brother didnt even have the sweet release of death and is comatose after getting mauled by the retarded lion prankThe ninja actor was strangledThe hacker guy was cyanided, which is not really a calm type of poisonThe clown girl dad was suffocated with dough
>>722113071Also in terms of testimony matching with allegro themes, this is the best one in my opinion.
>>722113923This case just being a normal, down to earth filler ne without much relation to the big narrative makes it my favorite in SoJHonestly i wonder how well would an AA game with little overarching narraritive and just a bunch of self contained cases like this go.
>>722114106usually the filler cases suck but i agree that soj had the best filler case, better than some of the main ones
We had it so goodThe cast was never this entertaining ever againYou never know what you have until it's gone...
Teppen is pretty cool. I only play it for or few weeks every other year or so, though.
>>722113836Please correct me if I'm wrong, but when did he claim he was "only looking for the truth" when he was operating pre-Phoenix? He only started caring about that after the first game and even then his philosophy wasn't truly cemented. All I remember is that in the fifth case his shitty reputation is talked about and at most all that's revealed is that he didn't forge evidence, but was still a shady as fuck prosecutor. Also read my previous fucking posts, you speedreader, Jesus, Von Karma's penalty wasn't because of the autopsy, it was because of his brutal interrogation that forced a confession. That was all him. The autopsy fucked him over and dragged out the case, sure, but he never got penalized over that. He got penalized over doing extremely shady shit (which he has always done) and finally getting called out on it and not being able to cover it up. The penalty was entirely his fault due to the way he operates with his cases. Again, it wasn't because of the autopsy, and the fact that you think it is shows you are a speedreader.

>>722117074No, but I think it's a good novelty item.
>>722114832Did you not play Turnabout Reminiscence? His main drive was to find the truth, not to find someone to build a perfect case to convict. Furthermore, they only go into him being shady as fuck in 1-2 where Phoenix says he expects Edgeworth to forge evidence if the case goes a third day. Afterwards Edgeworth talks about his rep in 1-5, but it gets dropped from Justice for All onward as he gets more and more retconned. Also, learn to read dumbass, the fact Von Karma was given a bad case was the reason he forced the confession, and then the OC who caused problems in the first place was the one who penalized Von Karma. That's just try harding to make the game special.

>>722086440I can live with that
>>722117019I think his progression as an artist is pretty entertaining, going from kid scribbles to actually decent sketches. It would be funny if he was introduced in AA7 as a world famous artist praised for his works, especially since Phoenix was an art student in college and tends to be quite the art critic. Maybe one of his artworks gets stolen and Phoenix doesn't believe that Larry could actually make a piece worth stealing.

>>722128401Hobo Nick is a perfectly fine stand alone character, he just sucks all the oxygen out of the room and leaves nothing for the new blood to work with.Honestly I most likely would've kept him a secret until further in the game so one can get more time with the new cast, even if that means we'd might miss out on a good opening case. With that said having him Job to "hey this evidence is pretty fishy, but eh i'll present it anyways" to Edgeworth the 4th does hurt his previous trilogy intelligence in about as much of a manner as turning him back into mostly retard rookie afterwards.>>722128717I wouldn't want it back unless we got another edgeworth game, but i think they've done everything with him that they can.

>>722130125Doing cases without Mia was the natural progression of his character, the only actual reason why we got a new protagonist was that the devs felt you always need to be playing as someone in the rookie lawyer position which isn't necessary in my opinionPhoenix was still a defense attorney in a fucked up legal system inherently stacked against him and surrounded by retarded witnesses, him not being a rookie anymore after 3 shouldn't have made him unusable or even that dramatically different really. At best, the Fey plotline should've ended with Maya and Pearl being relegated to infrequently appearing support characters moving forwards

>>722140001I think AAI2 is up there but I feel like people have either generally forgotten how overall solid 3, you either have people wanting to be contrarian and insist something else is better, it be 4/6/AAI2/GAA2/whatever, or you'll have people that misunderstand Godot's character and write it off due to no media literacy skills, hell you've seen a few in this thread alone.the only real slight I have against 3 is that the set up logic for 3-3 is really hilariously awful, but i still think it manages to turn out "alright enough" in the end due to its murderer having charisma.

>>722140419My major problems with AAI2 generally speaking> fucking up picrel. Whoever wrote him here clearly never played AA2 because it wasn’t like him at all. I am so fucking sick of these tropes and both happen to be in a single case … lovely> hi Ema … what a pointless camo AGAIN> here is a fun game: you can tell the real culprit right away in pretty much every case because stereotype shit or wearing Red because red is evil OR every other surrounding characters are generic NPC> they flatout throw a spoiler straight to your fucking face revealing the final culprit before even asking youThe last one alone pissed me off completely what a fuckup

>>722140001Two things helped bolster AAI2's reputation.1. Aside from the fanservice, AAI didn't really do anything new with Edgeworth as a character, except pair him with an assistant that, by all logic, he should hold in Oldbag-tier contempt. AAI2 on the other hand, was actually about Edgeworth contemplating the choices he made. AA2 made references to his off-screen globe-trotting making him a more 'complete' prosecutor, but I2's involvement of his father's partner asking if he'd reconsider his path does a better job at giving his eventual reaffirmation some weight.2. The fantrans completed in the gap between the releases in the West of Dual 'power of friendship' Destinies and Layton 'invisible stage hands = magic!' vs Wright, and AAI2's story is an unqualified masterpiece compared to those two.
>>722141549This is also a very strong point that gets lost in current day discussion regarding AAI2.AAI1 is perfectly fine but it's extremely safe narrative wise and doesn't push the envelop or previous cast anywhere, the real part it took major risks was the gameplay. AAI2 makes Edgeworth less of a Pinball, less of a passive dude that gets told to be at events and do things, and you get a game that's actually about him instead of uh, whatever AAI1 was going for.I don't think anyone reasonable can remotely argue in favor of Duel Destinies over even AAI1, let alone AAI2, and while I can't comment on the layton game, yeah AAI2 is going to look much better than it would've otherwise due to what it was surrounded by.It's kinda like how Fire Emblem Three Houses might not have a remotely good story, but when your sandwiched between Fates and Engage it'll look much better than it actually is.

>>722117163The "jobber gets the spotlight for once" episode always fun though. Everyone loves the loveable silly dorky underdog
>>722155856being inspired by Mia doesn't conflict with his original childhood story, they can and do coexist just fine
>>722114719Holy fuck I can't believe that game is still being supported
>>722114719More Maggey please.
Consider Susato's musty bush after walking around in a Kimono all day
This thread reminded me of how much I love these games and the world of AA... I should really finish the rest of series soon
>>722164253It went from being inspired by and chasing Edgeworth to being inspired by Mia saving himThe childhood story is basically irrelevant in 3
>>722102481I liked the part where I had the option to say I wanted to examine the insides of her shoes
>>722163926that anon is lying, investigations 2 is literally the best game in the whole series
>>722164629Again, why can't it be both? He never says "Edgeworth was my one and only inspiration absolutely nothing and nobody else" they don't contradict at all.
>>722164736>investigations 2 is literally the best game in the whole seriesInvestigations 2 is good, but in no world is it better than Ace Attorney 1.
>>722164787Because according to 3, before Mia he was studying arts and didn't seem like he had any interest in law or the "truth" at all?
>>722165429Play the game again
>>722084350Which game has the best Cornered theme?
>>722164736It has one of the worst final bosses in the franchise and his entire defense is 'nu huh!'
>>722084350This is how Wright wins all his cases btw
>>722142732>OGPeak even with low points. 2-4 is still the best case in the series.>Apollo Trilogy Uneven but not terrible. AJ is the weakest game in the series, DD is ok, SoJ has strong points.>TGAAGood game stretched out into two. First half is the weakest after AJ but the second game is pretty solid even with an underwhelming final boss.>InvestigationsFirst game isnt very memorable. Second game is pretty fun. Sebastian or whatever they call him in the new translation is one of the best AA characters.
>>722166407>reddit man
>>722166997>i- is that aa a a f-f-f funny meme!? On my hecking wholesome chungus board!? Nooo... you hav-Shut up.
>>722084350now make a breakdown with distended belly (from hamburgers)
>>722110529I am still amazed by how enjoyable Tyrion Cuthbert and Trials Of Innocence ended up being. You can try the unfinished game Of The Devil. Paper Perjury as well, but I didn't really enjoy it. There's also Ace Attorney fangames or fancases. Turnabout Of The Golden Witch, Contempt of Court, Conflict Of Interest, The Torrential Turnabout, there's plenty to choose from
>>722156930They don't. They never spoil who the culprit is until the very end when it was time to reveal who he was. By that point you have already talked to Kanis and deduced things about the existence of the 3rd party correspondent. They also went through the process of elimination. By the time Edgeworth himself has already realized who it was, the player should also have already realized it themselves. Anyone who says the game spoiled it for them is an idiot.I assume you're new here. This board has a huge contrarian hate boner towards AAI2 so they go the extra mile in making up bullshit to make it look bad.Case in point. >>722166179
>>722110529Isn't there that bird game that got memed a couple years back?
>>722131356it sucks being an Irisgod
>>722167598>turnabout of the golden witchit's not THAT witch, right?
>>722110529>that backgroundAI?
>>722142732well i'm shocked this thread is still up so i might as well post my dogshit ones>OGextremely good overall with only one real hiccup in each game, I'd still say as a collective whole, this is the best collection, 9/10>GAAfirst half is extremely slowly paced and might be the weakest game in the series for me, but the second half is one of the best ones overall even with it's underwhelming overarching villain, this is basically the opinion a lot of people had about the Investigation games for a while. 8/10>Apolloas a collective whole its the weakest group but every game still has good moments and gems, I can understand why someone would like any of the three games, but i'd question them if they said any one of them was their all time favorite. 7/10>Investigationsfirst half is pretty alright, second half is pretty enjoyable, the biggest thing this duo has going for it is that, quality wise it's pretty consistent in that outside of one legendarily bad case, you'll have a steady flow of fun 8/10It might be fun to riff and shitpost about certain aspects of the series but these are more enjoyable than they aren't even at argued "low points" you don't even need to look that far to see how painful it can be to be fans of certain other similar IP's of this genre lol.
>>722167970It's that witch indeed
>>722167970It is EXACTLY as you think
>>722143915Does anyone remember what season or episode it is? I'd like to watch it.
>>722102671I liked AAO but not enough to check up on what's happened in the ~6 years I've been absent
What if Ace Attorney took place in Los Santos
What do you think is the funniest case? For me it's 5-3
>>722168987Requesting the AA girls as street walkers if genning guys would be so kind uwu
>>722144270That would require having to hire a competent writer, which is expensive when it's a lot cheaper to adapt the games as a glorified commercial. It is dumb though since some people will use it as a substitute for the games
>>722163794And I bet Mia still got better grades
>>722168987Aw shit
>>722169123Why would you want that for them
>>722171265This. How about generating Maya in a wedding dress being as happy as she could possibly be next to Nick

>>722153375No, Shigenori Soejima is the Persona artist and he has no involvement with AA of any kind. Kazuya Nuri is the lead artist for The Great Ace Attorney.
