You understand?Anyway thats why I try to look out for games that have some sort of inherent friction on grids, because if somebody likes those, they probably appreciate games on their own pure merits, (and not with a subconscious disposition that they could never be aware of but I could always prove through discussion) Games with big narratives surrounding them are the easiest "friction" creaters, but the problem with this then becomes "relative to"For example. Skyrim is a game with a big narrative surrounding it "casualized, "streamlined", "simplified", "not true RPG" etc. Its probably the classic big game with the biggest of these narratives, its so big that you can find even retard normie tubers repeating it before they go and say "But I dont care about all that"! But even I dont think its reasonable to believe Skyrim to be a game with friction despite its narrative.So I have to identify something else.

People say they hate emmi sections but it implements horror in the best way for me. The dynamic kind of horror where there is no "wrong" choice. I can run and try to outmaneuver the pursuer, or try to hide and outsmart them, or face the fear and gamble a parry. Other horror games you can only run or you just have to figure out the right place to hide. Like Soma is a much scarier game but all you do is run and do trial and error to reach the end. The boss fights in dread are also really fun and the game only uses QTE as a reward for learning the boss, whereas in most other games QTEs are implemented in a really boring way. Also the ending of dread has a great payoff.

You do NOT have enough time to explore an entire planet all over again, even if you wanted to. You will run out of time, and most importantly, your time to explore something new elsewhere, or pursue leads will be restrictive, the shortcuts therefore, dont just shortcut distance, but also time. See as you master the world, youre able to interact with it in a more deliberate and meaningful way.That's one of the small ways OW sets itself apart despite having a disconnected world much like Majoras Mask, and unlike Dark Souls.

Shit content, gated by an inherently repetitious gameplay loop, where the world structure is not created in a way that can meaningfully be engaged navigationally or anything meaningfully.
