>>
did you throw up
>>

No I legitimately think you'd have to be an extremely sheltered individual to feel nauseated from VR, like if you ever went to a theme park as a kid you should be inoculated from it
>>
>>722142956
i like playing beatsaber and then jerking off to some japanese hentai vr games
>>
>>722143160
play sairento and get back to me
>>
>>722143160
I can handle it, but sometimes I get that weird balance problem (like your brain feels like you're going to topple for a second) if playing something with smooth movement for too long.
P.S. Play Ghost Town.
>>
>>722143160
games with bad framerates are the only thing that does it for me
>>
I’m very short sighted. Does VR even work for “people” like me?
>>
>>722144436
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaBQvvubQ-U
Looks... pretty tame? It's doing the thing where you teleport around instead of moving fluidly which is kind of lame, also it seems like you're in slow motion any time you're moving through the air. I didn't have a problem going full boar and flipping all around the place in the HL2 vehicle missions so I don't think I'll have any nausea problems with this. If you vouch for the the game being good, I'll try it out though
>>
>>722144786
You can wear glasses or contacts inside, or get prescription lenses.
>>
>>722144786
You can use it with glasses. Just make sure to use protective glass so you don't scratch the display. Or just use contact lenses.

>99.9% of the population do not suffer from motion sickness in any form
>The absolute grand majority of people who try free locomotion in VR get motion sick for a bit

You aren't special, you aren't cool. Motion Sickness in VR happens because unlike "A roller coaster" your body is expecting movement but isn't going anywhere, so the signals your brain is sending get mixed up.

Fuck, even the vast majority of Air Force pilots who use VR for simulations suffer from Motion Sickness the first few times they use it.

I don't understand why you faggots lie so boldly on an ANONYMOUS image board.

I just use the spacer that comes packed with the Quest, haven't had any scratches yet after a year of moderate use. I make sure to clean both my glasses and the VR display with a microfiber cloth every time I put them on so there aren't any hard dust particles caught between the two, I imagine that's the primary mechanism by which scratches happen since the two lenses are literally touching. Still, the advantage of having a $300 device is that you don't have to lose that much sleep over maintaining it
>>
>>722142956
I bought one with my Christmas bonus, so that if I hated it, at least I didn't waste earned money on it.
I bought it to go with my ps5 pro and Gran Turismo 7.

I didn't throw up but FUUUUCK ME is it a wild sensation as you go over a hill or dive into a bend and your brain tries to figure out who's bullshitting it, the eyes or the inner ear lol. Laguna Seca corkscrew in particular...

Even having my hands on the wheel in the same position as the hands on the screen was weirding me out but I loved it.
No man's sky was pretty cool, too. Everything seems ten times bigger, but I actually DID find myself suffering after a space battle against pirates when my brain finally told my eyes and inner ear to fuck off lol.

>Flatcel
A VR headset is a supplement to continuing use of normal flat displays, it's not a replacement for it. After a few months/years you'll probably find yourself mainly using the headset for porn, because that's where the abundant VR content production is, and not doing much gaming on it or not bothering to keep a big enough space cleared in front of your PC for standing stuff

I have never actually put on a VR headset to this day. I am still tempted to experience it, but I'd rather just borrow one or use it in a store/demo. I feel like the VR market is dead. I ask anons on here from time to time what they use their VR headset for and most tell me they use it for porn and internet surfacing, also video watching. I guess the games for it are fun? I don't really understand how much better it is to watch stuff on it?

I understand you can like sit or lay in bed with it, but I have a 55'' TV like 8 feet away from my bed, and I can watch stuff on it and play games on it....from my bed. If I really wanted to I could even watch porn on it, granted I don't. If I was going to buy a VR headset for porn, videos, and internet, then it just doesn't seem worth it. A tablet or laptop could do the same thing, but you're not wearing it on your head? So I just don't see the appeal? Does it really make it more...immersive? You're watching a porn video in VR and how does that feel more pleasurable than just looking at porn on a tablet/computer and jerking off? I'm just struggling to understand what exactly anons are getting out of it. I'd hate to buy one and have buyer's regret, like I use it for a few days and then it sits and collects dust on the floor.
>>
>>722147560
Scale feels different with VR, and when you get stuff with decent motion controls, it actually feels neat manipulating objects in the game.
But yeah, porn is all that really lasts.
>>
>>722147560
Never watched VR porn, but the games are more immersive, yeah. Just try one at a store or something, you'll see. Everything is "correct" size, it's better than even a large flat screen. I was playing HL2 VR mod recently, and there's a small scripted sequence where you drive through canals and a Combine troop carrier flies over your head. In VR you really SEE how huge it this motherfucker is.
>>
>>722145834
I know you might not want to accept it, but a lot of men are probably using it for porn. You might personally be one of them, but sadly the market is what the market is.

I work at the tech department for a store, and we sell Meta Quest VR headsets. We actually see them quite regularly still, granted I don't keep track of who is buying them, like categorical wise. I've sold some that were obviously parents buying them for a child, or maybe the family would share it? The 3S sells WAY better than the 3, but that makes sense considering it's much cheaper.

The resolution is much better on a 3, but looking at them spec-wise, it seems the 3S has everything the 3 does aside from lower resolution. I don't really keep up with VR technology, but my store only sells the Meta Quest ones.

>>722147637
I'm aware that VR Chat is probably the most used thing for VR. I don't know how it really works, kind of looks like some IMVU shit where you make an avatar and just talk to random people. I know you can spend a lot of money to get motion body tracking and voice functions to make it even more immersive.

There are vr opticians that will make lenses for the headset. As in, lenses you put on the screen inside the headset instead of on your eyes.

VRChat is whatever you make it really. There's tons of games and activity worlds as well as different sort of "chatting" games like one of those speed dating shows where you get a few minutes with one person before you get switched with someone else. Or if you're a degenerate, you can go all in on coomer tech and spend your days masturbating with other men in anime girl avatars.

I would LOVE an Apple Vision Pro. It obviously wasn't marketed to the average consumer, but the quality of the visuals looks amazing to me. You can blow up screens to IMAX size, and the clarity of the films looks just as good as watching it in the theater. Even if I had $3,500 to blow, I obviously wouldn't blow it on this. It's still neat though.
>>
>>722148403
They're availble for half MSRP at this point, obviously still monstrously expensive but maybe not totally overpriced considering the quality of the display. I'd look into getting a used one if it had PCVR capabilities, but as far as I know it's just AR and a couple applications with a throwaway "immersive" mode
>>
>>722149870

There are android knock-offs in the range of $2000 if price is the only thing keeping you from buying one.
Personally I'm waiting for the deckard/steam frames, and if it proves disappointing I'll just buy the refreshed Vision Pro that should be announced in october.

I've been waiting for so long for pixel density to get acceptable for reading text, I can't wait for the next few months to be other so that I can finally jump in.

>>
>>722151578
It's diifferent things. Motion sickness in VR is psychosomatic. You have cillia in your ear that detect orientation and motion. Some people's brains can't handle that they see motion but can't feel it.
Your case is that the cillia freak the fuck out at certain motions they detect.

So you're suggesting that the airforce puts an extremely strong selection pressure on individuals prone to some form of motion sickness, such that the vast majority of pilots come from the 0.1% cohort that are subject to it?

No, that would be a more believable assertion, his literal statement was that "99.9% of the population do not suffer from motion sickness in <<any>> form". I think he just made up data on the spot
>>
>>722152068
That is not at all what he's suggesting. Do you have 2nd grader reading comprehension? Motion sickness from IRL motion and from VR are completely different and are not comparable is his point, such that even AF pilots, which, from frequent flying get used to IRL motion impacted nausea still can't deal with VR nausea for the first few times, because it's a completely different sensation for your brain to see motion visually but not perceive it at all in your inner ear.

>>
>>722152483
>That is not at all what he's suggesting
There is no suggestion, he made two completely objective statements citing literal number figures and two of those statements are absurdly incongruent with one another, with the only possible way to reconcile them being the conclusion that the occupation of flying aircrafts at speeds of up to 2,000mphm mostly employs a vanishingly small minority of people who are subject to suffering from motion sickness. Like I said, he just made up some bullshit numbers on the spot and didn't have the mental acuity think about how one thing he said related to another

>citing literal number figures and two of those statements are absurdly incongruent with one another
they're not cause he's talking about actual motion sickness, you know, when you're IN MOTION. You're not in any kind of motion when using VR, which is why it causes nausea even to those who do not get motion sickness irl.

>>
>>722153040
I feel like it's a combination of FOV, framerate and screendoor effect that contributes to nausea. I feel like higher FOV will increase nausea cause it gives even less of a reference frame for your brain to anchor to to interpret the movement on the display - add to that low framerate and display incongruencies like the screendoor effect and it's a recipe to make your brain short circuit a little bit.

Does playing VR make anyone else need to poop? I swear I didn't have this problem when I initially bought my headset, but I've been wanting to get back into VR and every time, consistently, within MINUTES I will get the urge to shit badly.

It's got to the point where if I need to shit before going somewhere (so I don't gotta later) I will use the headset intentionally to trigger the process.

Is this normal anons??

that is literally the ONE thing you can't do and the reason why so many get filtered
when you start feeling sick from vr you STOP
next time you wont be nearly as sick

I don't have RJ footage for TF2 but I've got some for quake
It's really intuitive unlike kbm you you don't need to 180 flick turn. Literally just aim at your feet at an angle and jump

That's kinda what I meant. You just have to keep doing sessions and it'll go away.

fair enough. thought you meant push through the session when you're already sick

still waiting for an affordable stationary anchor for your VR space kinda like pic related. 5 grand for that seems excessive but not surprising for a novel product in an emerging market.

The image. I know this sounds ridiculous, but it's one less step people will have to go through to actually see the thing. Easy for others to share the image if they'd like. Maybe one day I'll make it a google doc.

I think Hitman would absolutely work as a VR title, but the fact that this is ultimately just WoA with VR slapped on top means it's kind of limited. I'll probably play a mission in full soon, so that I can speak with more confidence about it. Currently playing through Sushi Ben

Think you gotta be a bit more descriptive on the VR aspects. Example, I recently bought Dungeons of Eternity and here are my first hour or so impressions.
>Hack and Slash dungeon crawler where dungeons have randomized layouts and loot.
>You can equip up to 3 weapons which are holstered on your hips and one on the back.
>Weapons are throwable and you can recall them back sort of like telekenisis, but if they're on the ground too long then they teleport back to your holster.
>Throwing weapons feels good and is a viable strategy against enemies. There is some autoaim with these so you'll end up hitting more than you think but it still feels as if you're in charge of the throw. Of course, you also need to put some force behind the throw.
>Combat is more about force of swing rather than just waggling. Basic skeleton enemies have a few different attack animations that you can parry if you deflect their weapon with proper timing. Some enemies (particularly the first boss) have places you can only attack, he's too armored in other places to do damage so aiming your hits is required at times.
>Healing is done via potions. You have to uncork the top of the potion which can be done with your hands, your weapon popping the top, or just pressing the trigger to pop it off. Drink or just empty the potion on yourself. You can throw the potion with enough force to break on the floor causing a healing explosion with a little pool that does continual healing until it expires in a bit. You can also hold the potion in one hand and slam your weapon against it to break it on top of you and do the healing pool.

There's more I can talk about but basically say more than "just VR" as VR is implemented differently in each game.

Probably for the same reason you'd get nausea. Inner ear/brain feels something is wrong, thinks it's been poisoned, gets the gut working to expel whatever might be in there.

I am 100% serious when I say this, I am literally guaranteed to have to take a shit when I first start a game of Hearthstone Battlegrounds in the morning. Bowel regulation is the only reason I still have the game installed after all these years, when I say guaranteed I do mean actually, literally, 0% margin of error

I used to wear them. The optometrists tell you a retarded method of taking them out that doesnt work. They recommend that instead of pinching them out (and potentially pinching your eye or something I guess) they recommend you 'slide' them out but pressing your finger against the centre of the contact lens and pushing it to the corner of your eye where it's supposed to scrunch up a little, breaking the vacuum seal.against your eye and so popping out stuck to your finger. In reality when you try this, it doesn't scrunch up or doesn't let air in to break the vacuum and instead just slide right on past the skin and gets stuck behind your eye where you can't reach it. It is very uncomfortable and alarming when it happens and the only way to deal with it is to close your eyes and gently rub your eyelid in a circular motion hoping the corner of the contact lens will squeeze back out for you to grab and being back to the front of your eye where you can pinch it out like you should have done in the first place

We just spin a server and play with the fags at vrg from time to time
What sucks is that there's no real working mods for the game so none of the advanced stuff like CPMA, clan arena or freezetag

>We just spin a server and play with the fags at vrg from time to time
yeah I'm from the (((global south))) so that's probably not a great option for me. well normal quake is surprisingly totally playable at 150ms, but I imagine it would be worse in VR

I really appreciate the detailed response. I should definitely expand each entry more, but I think it's best to keep it short and to the point for the most part. I plan on adding a legend later on that indicates which entry has a video essay and which has a Let's Play. I think maybe making a supplementary google doc with significantly expanded entries, like the example you provided, would be a good idea.

>>722156320
>I think it's on the cusp of becoming too big to navigate in image format
I'm pretty surprised the file size is relatively low. I tried to keep the entries in alphabetical order. I definitely need to make the titles stand out a bit more. As mentioned in the other response, maybe having a supplementary google doc with expanded entries would be a good idea and would maybe help with the navigation issue.
