>Xbox software sales are in the absolute shitter because of Gamepass being a better deal

This has to be Phil's personal jihad on the Xbox division, theres no other logical reason, he wants one last fuck you to Microsoft management before they close the division down a year from now

pretty much a non-issue due to the massive benefits of tariffs now rolling in, every American household is better off now than they were this time last year with the cost of groceries, gas and other necessities being way, way down and wages way, way up. no one is going to have a problem with these new prices thanks to more money in their pocket due to the perfect tariffs, might as well delete this thread OP

>>722162506
They've got no other choice
>Xbox hardware is in the shitter, billions in the red as sales are so low that many stores worldwide are refusing to even list Xbox Series X for sale
>Xbox Studios games each selling a few thousand units on Xbox at best, a few million per game on Steam and PS5 combined
>meanwhile Activision is making a billion dollars in pure profit every quarter
Xbox just looks like a waste of money in every way compared to Activision. Cutting studios is no longer enough to justify keeping the Xbox division, the only way through is to massively increase profits somehow and this was the only thing they could think of.

that's actually a damn good deal when they're also adding ubisoft classics and fortnite crew, at least for me. my nephew is addicted to fortnite so the crew shit works in my favour. and ubisoft classics is one of the reasons i subscribed to ps+ in the first place so now that it's coming to ultimate i don't need ps+ for those ubi games. i'm sure some indian will find an exploit to get ultimate for cheap anyway, which is always how i've bought it (did the 3 years of ea play to 1 year gamepass conversion which cost £70 for one year).

fucking awesome

Been a Gamepass subscriber since 2017, I'm out now. $360 for a year of this ripoff service is about equal to five full priced games nowadays, and I'm struggling to find five games I'm interested in playing on Gamepass nowadays.

The price didn't increase that much over Xbox Live Gold, that move was just to cook the books and pretend GamePass was a huge success and a giant new revenue stream when in fact it was just them rebranding Live subs.
>>
>>722164896
Worldwide. It's about 26 Euros now for one of the tiers. I assume the third world South Americans/Brazilians and Indians are gonna be hit the hardest too. :( How tragic with their e-waste 8GB VRAM GPUs play pretend PC master race or their worthless Series S console, all digital renting third worldies GamePass SIRS race.

>>

yeah but the idea of cloud saves is moot if you have no games to take advantage of it. the ecosystem is pretty neat because you pay for one sub which works across both platforms and allows you to carry progress from one to another.

>>
360 a year is insane lmao

I dont think I spend that much on vidya every year
>>
>>722164859
This. It's the snake eating its tail. Gamepass incentivizes devs to make quick, weekend type games because the fee structure won't support big AAA games. Once you burn through a few of those, you get the feeling that Gamepass isn't the great deal as advertised. It was Avowed for me, not bad, just not anything that I would actually want to finish let alone replay. The next shoe to drop is when Xbox gives up all pretense of curation, and just lets any and all crap-tier games on the store like Steam. "Any content is good content" is the death of any experience worth having.
>>
>>722165247
And back then you had to go drive to a store and back

The difference is Blockbuster was in the 1990s/early 2000s and we live in 2025. You have 30 years worth of game catalog that you can legally purchase physical or even digital and still get better value than ShitPassDRM SIRS PASS because you at least can play whenever you want without a gun behind your head to yank your games on rental. Let's dig deeper since you compared it to Blockbuster. If you wanted to play Mario 3, do you pay 90 dollars or 3 dollars or whateaver it is today? Tell me friend, do you really need to play EVERY FUCKING LATEST GAME ON DAY ONE RIGHT AWAY?

I'm probably the oldest anon in this thread and I got a fucking backlog for years, no way am I shitting down my money to rent Microdick XboxPassDRM latest slop. Must be your zoomers brain dopamine receptors going off like Toy Story aliens when they see the latest "thing" and need to play "latest thing" to post about it on social media. The value of owning your games is better than renting them and you got 30 fucking years of games out there in the market you can buy for cheap and forever to own. Get off the DRM renting clown horse, Gen Z.

>>722165530
What the fuck does this ramble have to do with anything? The existence of 30 years of game catalog has no bearing on the practical difference between a rental store and a service like GamePass. In both situations you are forking over money for a game you don't own.

Diablo IV supposedly got added today but this just takes me to the Ultimate/PC page. Same with Age of Empires 1 and a few other games.

>>
Gamepass is basically a monopoly on gaming. Consider this, by this time next year COD BO7 and BF6 will both be on Gamepass because of the EA Play part of it and the Activision part, and then also EA FC 26 will also be on Gamepass, but now there will be Ubisoft, Epic and Riot Games content on it for all the biggest games like LoL and Fortnite etc. It really is the one size fits all service.
>>
>>722165530
>do you really need to play EVERY FUCKING LATEST GAME ON DAY ONE
That was the sole reason some people subbed
I got a month so I could play the Oblivion remaster
Plenty of people would have done that for a day one game and then stayed on the service long term
It's less likely now, because people will just buy the game outright instead of paying almost as much to rent it for a month.

Prices haven't increased without the benefits increasing though. For example that Fortnite Crew thing nets you $100 in V-Bucks if you complete the battlepass that's included with it as well as free skins and currency aside from that. It's going to be an attractive deal for many people even at the higher prices because these people already throw money at games like Fortnite anyway.
>>

By the way the Xbox brand today has
>Sold 23-29 million consoles
>Has 34 million GamePass rent suckers
And Phil Spencer said they would have be at 100 million subs by 2027-2028 I believe at their Activision trial otherwise Xbox would quit gaming consoles. Well they already quit gaming consoles with a soft exist, I want to know what has been going exactly to plan since GamePass came out in the mid 2010s. Did it force Sony and Nintendo to alter their ways? lol, no. Did it help Xbox sell more consoles? LMFAO, no, retailers dropped Xbox actually. So did it boost GamePass by tricking PC fanboys to ditch ownership/piracy? No, GamePass Pass per Microsoft's own paperwork is like 10%.

GamePass business model works on 2 fronts, the console gamers who need to access online (Xbox Live was merged into it) and the people who want to mooch off renting DRM. But it is a model heavily sustained by consoles and the console business for Xbox is non-existant. I keep repeating it because they have a literal 800 dollar console out there that's being outsold by the Switch 1 (9 year old console) that's also in the market with Switch 2, lol. The whole Xbox situation is a divine comedy at your expense, but Xbox "diehards" don't have self reflection.
>>
>>722166221
They wanted tens of millions more of subs by this point

They didnt hit shit

Subscription services in gaming have not just stalled post-COVID, but they're regressing. EA Plus, Ubisoft Plus, whatever the fuck NVIDIA is doing, and Xbox Pass are all dying and they're jacking up prices. It's standard business if you can't grow, just bleed your diehards lol. I will never buy an Xbox or use their SIRS DRM RENEW THE PASS.
>>
>>722166295
We don't know how many subs it has, but if you think
1. MS will increase prices if subs are falling
and
2. 3rd parties (Ubi, Epic) will sign on to a service which is failing like you claim
Your math ain't mathing. This all suggests MS and partners are so confident in the service, they're literally making unprecedented moves by aligning themselves with it. CoD alone would've massively boosted subs.
>>
>>722166301
Premium is cheaper. Don't really care for new releases and that's now the only difference between Premium and PC.

THEY SPENT BILLIONS ON ACTIBLIZZ

WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THEY WONT THROW MONEY AT THESE OTHER COMPANIES TOO
>>
GamePass only works by having consoles out there. The more people in the ecosystem, the more you can share the burden. Take the Nintendo Online membership program, if you buy into a family plan it's cheaper for you the split the bill. Apply that logic with GamePass and they would've been subsidized by all the new console owners who buy into any of the tiers. But unfortunately (or fortunately), because Xbox consoles are a dead brand they can't hit the equilibrium for growth+sustainability. It's all hilarious by the way.

You have a 600-800 Series X console getting mogged by the nearly decade old Switch 1 and you have retailers worldwide just flatout refusing to put Xbox on their shelves. Which just leaves GamePass only viability for growth the PC market, which itself is defined by Valve fanatic fanboys or piracy. A pirate would be a never ever. A Steam Valve Vegan would wait it out like Kingdom Hearts on GOG took 3 years to land on Steam. Micropenis can't catch a break and the guy on top, Phil Spencer, never gets held accountable.

Can't wait to see you and your SIRS astroturfers gone. Pathetic sacks of shit. I will never buy an Xbox or pay your renting hellscape toll. How does Costco in America and EBGAmes in Australia and Middle East/Europe not selling Xbox consoles help you reach 100 million subs next year?

>raises price of Xbox consoles despite being the least sold console worldwide
Xbox is dead. Gamepass is good but not $30/month good, and Playstation's alternative has largely caught up and is a lot cheaper. The only downside is not offering it for PC. I don't understand Xbox's desire to die so quickly
>>
Sam's Club, Costco are not selling Xbox on America. Australia EBGames is not selling Xbox. Europe has not been selling Xbox for years. But the trust the anon plan and GamePass will sell more and more, it's a growing healthy businesss which is why it's getting jacked up prices.

Good morning Brasilia and New Dehli marketers. Do the needful for 1 month GamePass membership cards.

Doubter bros we're losing. When retailers worldwide stop selling Xbox consoles, it means GamePass will grow by trillions on PC. Doubter bros we're losing so hard in this thread. Nigga I own a PS5. PS+ even the Premium tier is dogshit compared to Gamepass. The one benefit PS+ had over XGP was Ubisoft Classics but now XGP has them, alongside EA Play, Bethesda, Activision, Riot and now Epic Games content. Not including all the other day 1 stuff that lands on XGP. PS+ doesn't even do PS games day and date. Fucking COD will be day and date on XGP. Don't know how you can say it's caught up in any way. They've never been further away from each other.

You can't use the excuse of them being one of the many arms on the US government payroll when they continue to do stupid shit like this. You'd think the whole show is cursed with the level of incompetence they have on display here.
>>
>>722169065
whenever microsoft does anything sony usually follows shortly after. expect psplus price hikes soon too and they'll all use global economy as an excuse when in reality it's all to achieve higher profit margins, because you damn well know they aren't going to lower the prices again when the "global economy" gets better
>>
>>722169065
They've already done what Xbox is doing now ages ago, and "people" are still glazing them.
>>
>>722168635
Xbox console business stopped growing for years. GamePass hasn't grown on consoles or PC. Ergo, they have to increase the prices to maintain this insane loss-leading rent DRM ponzi scheme going. Every time Sony/Nintendo sell a console, they recoup from selling online membership or video game sales (physical or digital). They have avenues for profitability, Nintendo out of the 3 is dependent on selling their consoles.

When you buy a PC you can either pirate or own the games. Renting games is such a non-factor, much less "Streaming" which is the European retard brain thinking they're fighting global warming by doing this. I digress, when someone plays on PC they're not beholden to pay for online. Nor do they fit in a single lane since they can buy from GOG or EGS or Steam. Or again, third world piracy behavior. Nintendo and Sony consoles don't explode without online access, after all they have physical market as well.

But Xbox? All they have is digital. They lost customers who want physical and they lost customers who can't pay for the overpriced Xbox Series X and they lost console owners who care about exclusives. They lost customers who would just rather pay for their games on PC entirely. This heavily affects Game Pass because the heart of the business is related to consoles, PC fanboys aren't going to touch it. Adding to the death spiral is the announcement and quasi announcements that retailers in the USA, Australia, Canada just aren't going to keep Xbox inventory anymore. In Europe they were long gone around 2023. It's a literal death spiral and the reason Xbox is paying to play pretend is so their diehards don't all immediately cancel. Microsoft's goal is the charade they're a console business when they're a 3rd party publisher with an antique console. Objectively evil to lead people on like this, pied piper shenanigans. SEGA held a conference and said it was over. Microsoft on the other hand has been pretending to be in business for years.
>>
>>722169163
unfortunately microsoft are the only company putting out games consistently, so i will side with them for that reason alone. this year we've had ninja gaiden remake, ninja gaiden 4, outer worlds 2, indiana jones, doom, black ops 7 and also big hitters like silksong on the service. in comparison what the fuck are sony and nintendo doing? why didn't sony fund ninja gaiden for ps+?
>>
>>722162506
>>Xbox hardware sales are so bad entire storechains are removing the systems from shelves
Do you reckon Fucking EB would still buy an Xbone Series X now with the rolling price hikes? I might as well dump this shit now before it becomes a paperweight like TESO. I couldn't even get a quarter for that piece of shit on the tradein.
>>
>>722169065
Not a Sony thread, go make one. Nintendo's most pressing matter is lowering the price or maintaining the price of the Switch 2. Sony' most pressing goal is the same as Nintendo. Every time Sony announces a PC port it self sabotages their attempt to make a handheld, because Sony's handheld will be competing with other PC handhelds who can play their games. In the pursue of short term financial gain, Sony exploded their handheld division they just don't realize it yet.

You can play these on PC and some even on PS5, and sure, you can play them on goypass but you're not playing and beating 7 games in a month, specially if you want to grind the cod multiplayer or get the multiple endings in OW2, even then, if you want to replay them in a year or two when nothing new is releasing, that's basically the price of a new game. Also, most players that enjoy ninja gaiden don't play cod, or fifa, so that's not worth for most people.

Idk, gamepass was never worth it for me, I bought the master chief collection for $40 and played through it in 2 weeks, but I can replay whenever I want (and I have thanks to coop)

This would be true if we weren't living under an FTC that can just be bought.
Reminder that part of the specific trade deal that Microsoft made to acquire all of the companies they spend billions of dollars to acquire, was that they would not be laying off employees or increasing prices to justify the money they spent on the acquisition.

They then proceeded to do exactly that and are continuing to do that because you could literally just give the FTC a few million dollars and they will overlook everything that you do

PS5 is outselling the Xbox consoles (which have been de-listed by retailers) 8 to 1 on average. The Switch 1 outsells the Xbox One and Xbox Series combined. The Switch 2 is in stock, the Xbox Series isn't held in stock, the PS5's LTD are 80 million, Switch 1 151 million, Switch 2 6 million, and Xbox Series X 9 million. The most popular Series console is the third world S which is all digital with specs from 2012.

lol.

>Because the dollar is tanking, and that's why they're raising prices. Until next year, I'll pay the same amount I used to pay in my currency (I'm not American), or even less if the dollar loses all its value.
Kinect killed the XBOX, and the failed ONE release buried the brand for good. If it weren't for Minecraft, Microsoft would have already pulled the plug on the entire division.
>>
>>722175739
Microsoft pulled the plug on Xbox when they put their games on PC day one in my opinion.
>>
it's official, xbox is now truly dead, it has not a single pro against ps5 anymore with gamepass dead
>>
>>722175842
i can play more ps2 games on my xbox than i can on my ps5. not including other bangers from 7th gen like gta 4 or the entire splinter cell series. ps5 doesn't really have much going for it. just get a pc for the best of all words. gta 4 is finally fixed on pc with fusionfix now anyway so you don't need to play the 360 version. although it's still a kino experience.
>>
>>722175842
Sony, Nintendo, and Valve are competing against each other for your time. Xbox is paying Indians and Brazilians to post on the internet how great things are going on the Xbox ecosystem (which isn't being sold in most retailers now worldwide). Just because Xbox is dead/has been dead doesn't mean Sony gets to rest easy, their primary opponents are their own PC port saboteurs and Nintendo/Valve. Nintendo is under pressure to release a Switch 2 Lite to get hardware as low as possible on a tigher deadline. Valve has been met with failures including the Steam Machines, Steam VR, and the Steam Deck. Which the egotistic fanboys won't admit. Valve's biggest fear is getting hit with monopoly lawsuits by the feds.
>>
I did the gamepass trick where you converted 3 years of turkish xbox live cards to ultimate for like 80$, this increase comes the year I have to renew because they patched that out. I'll pay 30$ a month when real games came out like xbox 360 prime.

This is the last thing that kept me from buying a ps5, maybe I'll swap to PC too. Xbox must be trying to speed run becoming a software developer only.

Every part of modern life subscriptions has been a scam. Netflix, Uber, Xbox, etc.... Fuck the new monopolies.

i dont actually want them for those prices

Since OG Xbox, the brand wanted to merge PC/Console. At that time (and even today), Windows was THE consumer OS. Stuff like GFWL and UWP (which came with WIN8) was a way to create a unified Microsoft ecosystem. Like the iOS ecosystem.

Microsoft has always been weird about fully committing to their gaming business (like the time they were pretending that people would also buy the 360 because it was a home theater PC), so the lack of commitment at the highest levels of management eventually bit them in the ass.

I'm more surprised that so may people here had no idea about PC gamepass in the first place. Did people on /v/ literally not know this existed and just assumed Gamepass was only an Xbox console thing?

They said Call of Duty going on GamePass will bring MILLIONS of new customers. Not only did did that not happen, but COWA DOOTY isn't even included in the regular tiers for GameDRMSIRSPass. Also why are you overthinking this? The service relies on console owners, especially digital only, to buy into the DRM Pass. Without consoles being sold, the number of people they can trap in their dogshit subscription service lowers. That's all there is to it, the number of consoles sold = number of retards they could theoretically sub the rent scheme.

It accelerated because Microsoft is putting out more Xbox games on Playstation and Nintendo, which again craters whatever little value Xbox consoles have. Someone looking to buy GTA6 is going to go with Playstation (or Nintendo Switch 2 if a port happens) because they get their exclusives. The vast majority of the public, especially zoomers, aren't going to be buying PC handhelds at 900 dollars to spend hours tinkering to get basic games working on them. Microsoft set a landmine with GamePass then they dropped TNT by making handhelds in a crowded ultra niche market that's comparable to VR gaming in size.

I knew this was going to bite them in the ass and lead to them putting Day 1s only in the Ultimate tier and raising the prices for all. Them killing their console also meant no more separate GamePass. Those also needed to merge into one. Get fucked Xbots, now you're going to have to buy games too unless you want to spend $30 a month for Day 1 games.

“We’re not in the business of out-consoling Sony or out-consoling Nintendo. There isn’t really a great solution or win for us. I know that will upset a ton of people, but it’s just the truth of the matter. When you’re third place in the console marketplace and the top two players are as strong as they are and, in certain cases, have very discrete focus on doing deals and other things make being on Xbox hard as a team - that’s on us, not on anybody else - ....But we’re not in a position - and I see out there, I see commentary, that if you just build great games everything would turn around. It’s just not true that if we go off and build great games, all of the sudden you’re going to see console shares shift in some dramatic way.

I see a lot of pundits out there that kinda want to go back to the time when we all had cartridges and discs and every new generation was a clean slate and you could switch the whole share. That’s just not the world that we are in today. There’s no world where Starfield is an 11/10 and people start selling their PS5s. That’s not gonna happen.”

I honestly think both Microsoft and Sony are evil for this, the moment you open the Pandora's box of giving your exclusive games to your rivals, it's over. Both see multiplatform as the future, both plans to make expensive 10th gen devices, both plans to increase the price of their first party games as a signal to AAA third parties to do the same, both increases the price of their subscriptions. The next gen Xbox home unit will essentially be a prebuilt PC made by Microsoft for $1000, no Game Launchers, no Windows desktop thus locking you in the Xbox full screen experience and Microsoft Store and ecosystem, with backwards compatibility but Xbox One games list is getting gimped, sold only on the Microsoft Store online not retailers, only in NA and the UK as a reference device for Xbox OEMs without BC, but with GLs and WD. The PS6 is only going to be a jump in Ray Tracing, is going to be around $800+ while having basically a Steam Deck 2-like handheld in specs (PS6 handheld) that's $600+. Both are also idiotically pushing to have dedicated NPUs and AI Accelerators in their Xboxes and PlayStations which is why the prices are getting pushed up. Future of gaming is Nintendo and Valve with the Switch 2 at $450 and the Steam Deck 2 at $550 as Valve won't put dedicated NPUs and AI Accelerators in the Deck 2.

You could buy multiple years of the vase gamepass and convert them to ultimate in a 3:1 ratio and you could get a year for £30 or thereabouts so it would come out to £90 for the year which is a good deal. They got stuck at 30 million gamepass subs, which is way too low to justify pushing new day-one AAA first-party titles. I assume their goal was to become as big as netflix within 5 years and then keep aggressively lowering prices, even offering a free tier with 50 titles until they hit 1 billion users globally across all devices (including mobile phones). It seems this model isn’t working, and there might be two reasons for that: either the netflix model will never work with video games and they made a big fucking miscalculation, or, like countless other tech companies, they were ahead of their time and didn’t know how to make the numbers go up. It would be funny as hell if gamepass died within a year and then Sony or Nintendo built their own billion-user monopoly in the next couple of years.

Phil's leaving just before or after the next Xbox drops, so I think the division has until the end of 2027. He seems like the kind of leader that's willing to go down with the ship, for all his other faults, so I imagine it will be him to deliver the news and hang on until the last moment. Bond will be entirely cluless about all of this, I'm not even sure she really understands that she's the President of the division. She probably thinks MS corporate is required to find new work for her afterwards.
>>
Xbox already died in 2013. All this extra crap over a decade later is just the continued death throes of a corporation with way too much money
>>
>>722181567
>either the netflix model will never work with video games
The Netflix model doesn't even work for Netflix. Everyone is clamouring to do this, but Netflix was a perennial loser, quarter after quarter, until everyone got locked into their homes for years and a former US president and his partner joined the board and directed a lot of grift into the company. "The Nexflix model" has nothing to do with streaming or subscriptions or whatever.
>>
>>722181567
I would have subbed a while ago when it was cheaper but they never made gamepass available in my country
I don't know how many regions they've left out but if they're really looking for more subs then they're missing the low hanging fruit which is to just make the thing available everywhere

Also if they're really that desperate they could also make a gamepass steam edition, just like how EA has an EA play version specifically for steam

I would say it's the former, they couldn't get Nintendo, Sony, or Valve on board with Game Pass, because they killed their own phones and didn't even use the Google strategy which is how they got on Androids, Game Pass was always doomed to fail. 2022 was a disaster for Xbox because they were preoccupied with their ABK court case which led to a drought with the Xbox Series X|S. It's basically over for them. We're going to be seeing a slow shift back to Nintendo and PC as the market leaders of gaming again. Neither Nintendo or Valve will tell third parties what to do so those devs are going to have to see how Nintendo and Valve make games and go back to the creative spirit of the 80s-early 2000s that was lost. Indie and AA developers seem to get the memo.

If subscription services didn't work, there wouldn't be so many of them around. The real thing is that many of them are driven by the "line must go up" stockholder appeasing mentality, or outside factors (companies making their own subscription services, so stuff that might have gone on netflix isn't going there anymore). As such, they tend to have something of a shelf life, where one ends, and another one begins.

I think EA going private is a sign of a massive shift in the industry. The current model isn’t sustainable, and the quality of games has gone to hell for many reasons, the biggest being woke initiatives, ESG, DEI, and far-left activists dictating what kinds of games should be made, along with open contempt and hatred toward gamers. It’s a sink-or-swim moment for Western gaming companies, especially the American ones, before China takes over.

Microsoft literally hires South Americans and Indians to shill. The rewards are Xbox monthly DRMPassCards. Game Pass is a loss-leading service tied directly with how many consoles they can sell. No consoles, the service flatlines. Retailers dumped Xbox so sells flatline harder, thus they squeeze the remaining fanboys harder. Microsoft just has to pretend to make another console to keep some of their most devoted in line to renew SIRS PASS.

Sam's Club, Costco dropped Xbox in USA. In Australia EBGames ditched them. Canadian Walmart only stocks through 3rd party affiliates. Xbox has not been restock in major European countries and the middle east region for years. Microsoft's turd world marketers (Brazilians, Eastern Europeans) are currently trying to salvage the brand as much as possible. Oh and by the way, Microsoft's last firing spree cost them their localization/regional branches in Europe. Customer service and distribution in Europe for Xbox doesn't really exist anymore, but the Brazilians and Southeast Asian and Eastern Europeans getting paid in XboxScamPass 1 month cards fight on the shill fight on the internet to gaslight others into REDEEMING THE RENEWAL BUTTON.

This was the last benefit to even owning an xbox, now it's worthless to even have over anything else.

I'm a sucker, I switched to xbox when it first launched because it was an American company I could support, where Sega/Sony/Nintendo were all foreign.

360, I was convinced to stay with all the great games. I kept buying on the digital marketplace. Every generation I continued because of backwards compatibility and that's where my library was.

Series X sort of sucked, but atleast I had my library and got gamepass 80$ for 3 years with the turkey priced convert. Xbox slowly started announcing their exclusives were leaving.

Now basically Game Pass makes no sense, looks like only PS5 is surviving next gen besides baby Nintendo. All the games I have collected digitally since 360 are essentially worthless.

I'm never putting a dollar into xbox again. I don't even trust PS5 will do the same.
>>
>>722194573
Yeah I just mentioned it because I recently bought a cheap PC due to my current setup not being compatible with Win 11. For $250 I got an one with a 500gb SSD and 32g gigs of ram which isn't too bad but finding a good graphics card in that price range is basically impossible
>>
>>722195681
>looks like only PS5 is surviving next gen
lol, no it's not. Future is Switch and Steam.
>>
>>722195697
on PC you still have some options to play way way above that hardware level with services like geforce now. at least until you save money for good GPU.
>>
>>722195681
The Series X is still a good piece of hardware even if continuing to invest into the ecosystem is probably not a good idea. I've been happy with mine even if it basically has no exclusives. Finding cheap used games is still a benefit, you can find tons of 360 and One games at places like pawn shops and thrift stores for very cheap.
>>
>>722164893
Xbox Gold shit was pretty based, you could buy like 3 years worth of that shit for $100 and slap a month on top for 3 years of goypass ultimate. Unfortunately they eventually found out about that and fixed it.

People act like prices of EVERYTHING haven't been increasing by 50%-300% across the board since Bidenflation started. A GamePass price jump is not surprising and not indicative of anything going on with Xbox. Netflix and YouTube also doubled their prices, to name a few.

Stop being faggots.
>>
>>722181270
But the problem is most of us don't need more than one game a month. I usually keep one retro game, one major game and one online game in my rotation each month and am quite busy with all of that in between working full time. If the service isn't cheaper than the price of one game then it stops being useful to me.

1.) Xboxes weren't removed from shelves because of sales. Costco is in a bitchslapping fight with Xbox over their bundle prices having to be increased, which is why Costco also removed their entire Xbox brand stock (gift cards, accessories, games, etc).
2.) GamePass IS Xbox software sales, retard.
3.) Everyone is increasing their prices. GamePass hasn't changed their prices in a decade while everyone is tripling theirs.

>>

>>
>>722200704
I thought Xbox was a pretty weak value proposition at launch. Same price as PS5 but with no exclusives and a worse controller. The only saving grace was cheap game pass.
Now game pass isn't cheap, PS+ has improved massively, and it's soared in price. Literally no reason to buy one.
>>
>>722200891
Yeah, I mean it wasn't great but it had a few things going for it. plus like I said, plenty like me where your library was on 360 or xbox one, not to mention online friends. So I stuck with it.

Now basically no great games, gamepass is worthless, and opening up exclusives elsewhere. Wish there was a transfer to ps5 option or even PC.

Only digital games that haven't fucked me over are steam.
>>
>>722201186
>Wish there was a transfer to ps5 option or even PC.
xbox play anywhere could have done this but was seriously underutilised, because barely any games are crossbuy. and besides, the windows store is a complete piece of shit and by far the worst launcher I have had the misfortune of using
>>

Also because play anywhere barely matters when the other "anywhere" in that equation is xbox
>>
>>722201829
What I mean is, it could have been a console -> PC migration path. Or it could have been used to make console + windows handheld a more compelling combo, similar to what Sony tried doing in the Vita days. Fuck, it could have been anything, if MS cared even a little bit.
>>
>>722198989

This. Had goypass for 3 years, played like 6 games, and that include shit like saarfield that ive dropped in less than 2h.
Also most games come without dlc anyway, which basically makes them an crippled products.
Also it made a mess on my root drive which annoyed me greatly.
>>
I liked gamepass, but thats crazy pricing even for me.
I play maybe 1 or 2 AAA games a quarter, might as well buy them by this point.
>>
I'm a lifelong pirate so I'm never getting gamepass, but am I missing something here? Even if it costed maybe $60 a month it would still be worth it. For example if gamepass didn't exist and you were buying 1-2 games per month. That costs more than $60.

I understand you're all trying to just push back on xbox and get a better deal though. I'll be called a shill here.

That's because it's the only way for the games to make money. And for some reason subscription retards actually spend a lot more on dlc/mtx/cosmetics/battlepasses and shit. It's fucking idiotic. There are now games being built around the subscription model because of how braindead consumers are.

I get the idea behind these sub charges is
>the people leaving will be offset by those who stay and pay more

but since they have over the years released stats saying that Gamepass users were great spenders on DLC and how often they like to use it to say "X game has engaged Y number of players", wouldn't you want to maintain a high number of subs by keeping them happy? Also the whole shtick is the convenience, is not like they are essential, with Netflix if you appeal to the normie who doesn't want to or cannot pirate, you got the exclusive factor, but here people can just say "oh is more convenient to just buy the games".

>>722198667
>GamePass hasn't changed their prices in a decade while everyone is tripling theirs
Anon their last 2 price increase happened not even 1 year from one another, right after the Activision deal was done despite them saying they were not going to increase the prices as a result of said deal.

That's most people. Consumer behaviour is just too different when it comes to gaming. People are willing to pay for 2-3 subscriptions when it comes to tv/movies because the perceived value is very high since they spend almost 200 hundred hours a month watching 100+ different properties. With video games it's like 3-4 properties over 40h or so. And it fits since 40% of console and PC gamers spend less than 5 hours a week gaming.

So the question then becomes how MS intends to ever make money considering how Netflix wasn't even profitable until recently, how many billions they were bleeding and how much more expensive video games are.

It's serious. Did you know tariffs are going to being in $17 trillion this year? Shitholes paying them must be seething at the cost
>>
>>722207513
And since Microsoft has all but completely abandoned the first party market they're entirely dependent on games people give a fuck about coming out consistently enough from other studios that consumers would want to pay a sub to play, but as it is "good" AAA games only come out maybe two or three times a year, the rest being indies that often aren't even on gamepass or consoles so why would anyone want to spend almost $400 a year when they're only playing the equivalent of half that in games they could actually buy and own instead.
