What went wrong? Even the galaxy remasters are mid

handheld hardware has a limitation that cannot be improved upon with current battery tech.

this thing was 15 years old on release day

More like 10 years. The reason that Galaxy doesn't look better is because Nintendo just refuses to make games with better graphics. It's like they insist that everything look like a Wii game no matter how capable the hardware is. Pretty strange.
>>
the galaxy remasters are switch 1 games, by the way

I dunno, I think it's a decent piece of hardware. It's a bit bigger so it's more comfortable to use the Joy-Cons, the mouse gimmick is a lot better than the IR camera, and they actually improved on the shitty stand and the screen has 120fps so that's neat. A bit more expensive than I would've liked, so I imagine that's most people's barrier with the thing.

Mid hardware specs, mid LCD screen, no games.
>>
they should've kept totk a dlc, and release splatoon 3 as one of the launch games for switch 2 instead of making another splatoon game for switch 1

Nothing went wrong, there is a collective psychosis around Nintendo and pricing.

Xbox partners with ROG and releases a $1k tablet that will chug just as hard on next gen releases and nobody has a problem with it.

Pokemon teases their DLC early and everyone says they're going to go play Digimon (which also has day 1 DLC) instead.

They complain about $70 for Mario Galaxy 1+2 but they've rebought TLOU, GTA & Skyrim for the past 4 console generations and they will do it again when the PS6 releases.

NO! You don't understand, it's literally okay when other people do it. Sure, Snoy just rereleased TLOU for the 5th time for the low, low price of $100 USD. And maybe Sega did put all their marketing for their MK knockoff on the fact that it comes with Minecraft and Spongebob characters, only to rug pull you and force you to buy the $90 version if you want to play what they advertised. And it doesn't matter that the PS6 will cost bare minimum $700. Focus on Nintendo and only Nintendo.

The difference is that other companies are actually releasing games that are well designed and visually impressive and Nintendo just coasts on the names of IPs that used to be good. If they're gonna release slop, they at least should price it accordingly. I'd have a Switch 2 if the games costed the $20-$30 they're actually worth.

They're just interactive movies, so why do they cost significantly more than blurays? I just get the same experience by hitting the pause button and taking a stroll around my house.

We’re witnessing the “destroyed by their own hubris” era of Nintendo’s cycle. We also saw it with the WiiU and the N64. They’ll eventually pull out of it, but they have to get smacked down to earth occasionally. It’s like how they do controlled burns in forests to prevent larger fires later.

That’s not to say it’s exclusive to Nintendo. Sega had it with the 32X/Saturn, Sony with the PS3, and Microsoft with basically everything after the 360.

>the mouse gimmick is a lot better than the IR camera,
Not really, the IR camera gave the Wii Remote physical presence, it allowed games to have a limited yet accurate input of player movement by triangulating their position with the sensor bar, the mouse just takes movement on a single plane and it requires a solid surface as reference.
