Continuing from the Yahtzee/Silksong thread since we hit the bump limit too fast
>>
>>722284404
Someone mentioned he married his stalker in the last thread and I'd love to know more about that
>>
>>722284404
>THE GUY ON THE INTERNET SAID THE WRONG OPINION OF A GAME I LIKE!
>REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Behold the modern neo-nazi.
>>
Yahtz really fucked up by assuming Silksong was a soulslike
>>
>>722284935
is it not
>>
>>722284404
I like him because he's a perfect summation of casual shitters.
>"waahh it took me multiple hours to beat this one fight"
>"but don't tell me I should've explored more because I have things to do"
>"no don't point out the hypocrisy where exploring for more upgrades would've taken less time than just trying the same thing over and over again"
>>
>>722284935
Huh???
>>
>>722285065
Metroidvania is different from a Spulslike
His video(s) on Silksong make it apparent that he just wanted to get through the game as quickly as possible and gave little to no time to secret hunting, which makes some fights far easier

He literally said that the enemy gauntlet wasn't hard, it just took him HOURS to beat because it was "boring"

The only "soulslike" trait silksong has is difficulty and picking up dropped currency
Soulslike is a stupid term but i think Silksong is missing plenty of beats for the genre

what's the previous thread? just saw this retard's video pop up in my front page and I was legitimately baffled by the dark souls comparison, it's that meme from a few years ago all over again, every "difficult" game is le heckin' dark souls of ____
>>
What did he do now?
>>

If I had one shard every single time I've seen the "it's not hard, it's tedious" whine from shitters, I'd be able to spam tools the entire game.

Spooktober recommendation is Yahtzee p&c adventure horror quadtroligy, Chzo Mythos. In this series you follow Yahtzee's trilby persona as he discovers the origins of Slenderman.

He said the Cogwork Dancers were masterful game design and the High Halls gauntlet is awful game design. He said there's moments in games where you know it's either a really really really good game or really really really dogshit, and Silksong has both and it's weirding him out because he doesn't know whether to call it good or shit due to it.
>>
>>722284404
He's not evil or malicious, he's not even that bad a critic, he's just kind of stupid.
>>
>>722286901
High Halls didn't take me many attempts (two or three, I forget which) but I do agree it was an underwhelming final obstacle for a major story goal. Nice that it had unique enemies but otherwise I would've preferred a proper boss. Anyway, I hope contrarians don't start hating the Cogwork Dancers over this. Fight wasn't hard but it was great.

this is exactly how I feel, it was wild being fully immersed in the game, playing like a degenerate 12-16 hours per day until I 100% it after around 40-50 hours, having an absolute blast loving the shit out of my time with it, then I finally go on the internet to see what people were saying about it and having the biggest whiplash about a game's opinion in years, all the complaints made me feel like a crazy person

Do people really do this?
>>
>>722287857
There are legitimate examples like Trobbio and the Pinstress, but if you're having to retry the same fight for multiple hours then there's no excuse to keep bashing your head against the wall.

maybe it's time to admit that this guy's opinions were always going to be limited by how much he's able to figure it out when he forces himself to turn his review around within a week of playing it.
not sure what everyone else's problem is, though.
>>
>>722286153
It's not a hard game, it's just tedious.
>>
>>722289250
There are some genuinely dogshit design choices that aren't the bosses, though. For instance, the silver bell quest has you walk around the tunnels above or below bellhart AFTER you've already cleared those areas. So I went through one loop down below and one loop above and only got three of the bells, despite being pretty sure I checked every corner since I had already fully mapped the areas earlier. And it turns out that yes, the silver bells spawn completely randomly and there is no reason to be in those tunnels except to run around in circles collecting bells.

Fucking why? At least with the "kill enemies and collect their cloaks or pins" it's clear that you get them on kills, even if not 100%. The charred/skewered organs quest gives immediate feedback when you use the right tools to get the parts. But the silver bell quest is complete trash.
>>
>video where he tries to make a clever point about there being no "bigger boss" than Big Boss in Metal Gear
>there are bigger bosses, and this is the plot of about half of the franchise
Yahtzee is genuinely a total midwit.
>>
>>722287995
No way did Gabe troon.
>>
>>722289587
They were probably expecting people to do that quest while wandering the lower level and eventually ending back up in the Marrow, then doing the pin throwing challenge, then making their way back because the Bellhart station is closer than the Marrows or Deep Docks stations, and in doing so noticing that the bells had respawned.
Or maybe I'm just autistic, who knows.

I think deep down he's still alright, but his work-related associations and the stupid format of weekly slop has nuked the quality of his content for basically the last decade

>when he forces himself to turn his review around within a week of playing it.
See normally I understand that and I don't slight reviewers for playing on easy mode and not finishing the game because they have a job to do (which is also why I don't actually value their opinions but that's a different topic). But when he admits to spending hours on it, giving up after dying to Lace 2 once, and then going back to his review script and redoing it before making the video, so he definitely had enough time to realize what he was doing wasn't working and actually explore for upgrades in a fucking Metroidvania game.
>>
>>722289864
seethepost by a random faggot that thinks games are too hard.
too long, not reading
>>
>>722290603
See, giving up and exploring can take an undeterminable amount of time with potentially no payoff, but you can get another go at the gauntlet and maybe win right now. After all, if it is there and not hard-gated, it is intended to be beatable as is.
>>
>>722292478

And then a bunch of retards whine about Savage Beastfly when they haven't even gotten dash yet.

I really didn't think it was that bad, and I'm not great at video games either I mostly play shooters and I have like 30% accuracy in them
>>
>>722292673
>whine about Savage Beastfly when they haven't even gotten dash yet.
You can get to beastfly without the dash? I remember getting most of the way there but then there's one gap with a rose jump you can't get enough distance on
>>
>>722284404
Good god that was a bad video.
He genuinely said "I would rather bash my skull against something difficult than explore and potentially find upgrades that make this easier".

I first tried the thing that filtered him. I've seen people say "oh you only know that if you look it up" but I literally didn't look up shit. I saw that High Halls was a main objective so I said "fuck that, I'll do other stuff, I hate bee-lining". By the time I reached the area I had double jump, had bought all the maps, and when I reached the infamous gauntlet Shakra was literally standing right outside of it. I didn't know it was a gauntlet, she was just there and was like "yo my quest is done, want help?" and I was like hell yeah Shakra rocks, why not? Poshanka. Plus on the way there I found a super obvious secret area that disabled one of the most annoying enemies in the game.

And to all that he's like "I don't have time!" Is he ACTUALLY retarded? Nigger you SPENT HOURS ON NOTHING when you could've spent hours playing the game! Jesus fucking christ. I left a comment reminding him of how Dark Souls did this within the first hour of playing because the graveyard/crypt is an obvious as fuck filter. You don't go in there until later, because the enemies (and zone itself if you go too far) are screaming at you "do something else"

my problem is he's "validating" people saying the game is "objectively designed badly" when his most hated moment of the game was one of my favorites
>>
>>722284935
remember when the first one came out and everyone called it "the first 2d soulslike" instead of the metroidvania that it obviously was
>>
>>722292862
It's impossible to do that. You need the float ability which is gated by having dash. Or, I think it's impossible. You might be able to get the float without sprint by doing freak sequence breaks via cocoon/bind/silk skill/damage boosting through wormways and beating sister splinter or skipping to get wall climb. Maybe can even avoid all that and somehow cross the gap that gates Lace

but the point is, you are definitely not intended to have float before sprint
