>>
>>722308936
It doesn't heal faster, it just has insane silk generation because the devs didn't normalize silk generation with speed changes. So the Crest for silk, Reaper, actually sucks at generating silk while Wanderer shits it out. Combine Wanderer with the quick heal and 4 mask heal and you're pretty much always able to heal off any damage you are taking.

At first everyone says you're a shitter for using Reaper but then later everyone concludes that Reaper is the worst crest in the game.

Thus I am not a shitter because I used the 'hardest' i.e worst crest to beat the game. And had fun doing it (collecting my little worthless glowing orbs).
>>
>>722310129
>architect uses it for both healing and restocking
Are you talking specifically about the animation duration? Because Architect's repair animation is visually completely different from a regular bind
>>
>>722310660
reaper is only bad if you're a minmaxing autist, the utility of easier pogos/better reach outweighs the dps loss imo. I stuck with it for my whole playthrough besides swapping to witch to dick around here and there
>>
>>722310660
You trade off raw power for convenience, it's maybe a little boring but overall neither hard mode nor a crutch, I'd rate it somewhere around Hunter's level in terms of fairness
>>
>>722309028
I just hate that wanderer's range is so small
>>
>>722309542
This wouldn't be so bad but you have shit like her instantly turning around and spinning if you're standing behind her after she misses her 3 hit combo. It's just punishing you for trying to punish.
>>
I'm getting ready to try and beat GMS while infected. Have a feeling it's going to be hard with no healing.
>>
>>722311083
GMS is probably one of the fairest bosses once you learn her pattern, though. At most you might take a hit or two during the second phase.
>>
>>722310660
Reaper is the worst crest for certain aerial bosses. It's like trying to fight Radiance with only 1 hit per jump.
>>
>>722311029
A lot of the bosses have a condition where if you're very close to them they'll go right into a specific melee attack. You need to be aware that standing super close to any boss invites this behaviour. Another obvious example is Lace who only ever does that huge flurry of strikes when you stand near her.

The good thing about Karmelita's melee attacks though is that any time you know or suspect she's about to do them, it's a free 1-2 hits via pogo. Pogo is completely safe whenever she's attacking up close, provided you can get above her in time.
>>

Pretty lame.
>>
>>722311517
I mean you can say there's no shortage of people saying that eating literal shit is good for you and be technically correct. I'm pretty sure the vast majority were always saying that reaper isn't very good.
>>
>>722311517
Wanderer has a better pogo.
>>
>>722311375
>>722311438
shaman with pale nails is workable but damn you can do NOTHING but avoid ever getting hit and regen because you'll never heal any damage you take and if you take even 1 hit it disables flea so you cost 33% more to use spells
and the regen on weavelight for bars 2/3/4 are garbage, first silk comes 3x faster

Best thing shaman can do is just shrek some bosses instantly because you can deal almost 1350 damage in a single fully upgraded bar of thread storms

when is silksong gonna add invasion? I want to twink invade some nubs with reaper
>>
I used Reaper a lot on my first playthrough but once I actually started to seriously use other crests I saw how bad it was. I feel like Hunter invalidates it since it has the exact same slots (why did they do this?) but faster attack speed and a better ability with Focus. As for Reaper with pogo I never agreed with it being the best. Wanderer is the pogo champ with it's quickness. Can get several off before Reaper's one. I think Reaper and Beast both need buffs. They could buff Reaper's silk orbs to give more as that seems to be the whole design of the crest is silk generation but as it stands it's actually the worst at it.

Fact is, you're just gimping yourself not using Wanderer. The devs, for some reason, really decided to make every other crest worthless, even the default one, in the presence of Wanderer.
>>
>>722311762
>They could buff Reaper's silk orbs to give more as that seems to be the whole design of the crest is silk generation but as it stands it's actually the worst at it.
As it stands
>barely allows you to generate as much silk as the other crests
>shuts off if you get hit once
>still need to collect the drops manually
The crest isn't so bad that it's unplayable and I used it up until I got the witch crest at the very ass end of Act II, but it's as you say, if you used any of the other crests (besides beast), you quickly realize that you're gimping yourself for a moveset that lets you be a little lazier.

>pick everything up during the cleanup phase in act 3 including all the merchants, as later charms give you massively increased rosary/shard farming speed on top of just having more mobility/power

Here's an issue. You pay 1000 rosaries for a bath in your home, then shortly after absorb Eva and your bed (and every other bench) does the same thing the bath does, but faster. The home bath should have unlocked the option to toggle the nude-mode from the Slab segment, to use elsewhere in the game

Nigger, tools are not powerful enough to justify taking them that seriously. Wanderer crest by itself is much more broken. Only Architect can spam them to an extent where they win a boss fight for you and it requires you to trade in your heals. You might as well say that using prosthetics means you didn't really beat Sekiro. If you said Wanderer+flintslate+flea brew means you didn't beat the game, I might actually see that as a sensible position because the combo makes Wanderer's already overpowered nature even more busted.
>>
>>722319140
>pin, 3pin, shard, longpin, boomerang, ring, pimpbomb, conch, silkshot, drill, wheel, voltvessel

Cogflies/tacks add some extra dps if you can cast them between phases but are only worth a couple nail hits each
Rosary cannon is like the rest except a total fucking joke

There are only 3 tools with any worthwhile concept. One just adds 50% damage + dot but only lasts 8 seconds. One is just a way for architect builds to cheat heals more efficiently than normal binding but takes dick tons of time to set up and 80 shards to refill, unless you want to go retard overdose mode than its worse lmao
So yeah the only reason for tools to exist is to let you quaff flea brew every 10 seconds

>>
Verdania is one of the best designed marshes in gaming, what were they thinking just making it a dream area? Same with gutting the coral area. I've heard they thought everything needed to be shit due to the citadel, but if your setting doesn't allow for beautiful nature that's a serious flaw in the setting.
Among the actual zones we got Hunter's March, Wisp Thicket, and the Act 3 section of Far Fields are my favorites in terms of visual design, but they're all tiny and fairly irrelevant.
>>
>>722319795
wander should also get a diagonal pogo with no bounce
>>
>>722319795
I like the wanderer debuff, but not the reaper buff. I’ve said it before and will say it again, all Reaper needs is to do like 10%-15% more damager per nail swing to be balanced (now that they fixed charge attacks).

Yes, I agree that combo is completely imbalanced and in serious need of a nerf. I'm arguing that most tool usage isn't strong enough to warrant the same reaction. They are metroidvanias that have taken some inspiration from Dark Souls, mostly HK.
>>
>>722319467
The whole point of tools is to give you some options for dealing damage when you normally couldn't without using up your silk at the cost of having a finite number per fight. They work fine when used that way, it's when you rely on them as a replacement for normal combat that they turn underpowered. Consumables in Lies of P are the same, not capable of ending a boss fight on their own but useful to give you more of an advantage. Flea brew is just OP when mixed with Wanderer crest (which is already too strong on its own).

>Hurr, durr, the devs put it in the game.
The devs also put runbacks in the game, that's because they're retarded incompetent trannies that do not understand how to design video games correctly.
If you used tools, you didn't just not beat the game, you never even played the game to begin with.
A boss in an action game is a move set that you're supposed to interact with by using your own move set.
If you stay a full screen away, ignore what the boss does and spam the "skip encounter" button, you are not, in fact, fighting the boss, or playing the game at all.
Using tools in Silksong is LITERALLY identical to using invincibility or unlimited jumps mods, regardless of whether those cheats were put in by the devs themselves or a third-party mod maker.
The actual difference is that people using modes have the IQ to understand that they're doing it because the game is badly designed, and the self-awareness not to tell others to "git gud."

This is what makes you a subhuman degenerate that should be gassed: you didn't play this game, you have no idea how this game plays, but you still have the audacity to tell those who criticize it to "git gud," something that you yourself never did, you hypocritical fuckface.
>>
>>722319845
The point is to make it balanced, not unusable.

>>722319892
The main issue with Reaper right now is that its "best silk gathering crest" status goes away if you take even one hit after healing. Making it hit a little harder would fix its weak DPS but wouldn't make it good at what it's supposed to specialize in. I guess you could shorten its buff when you take a hit like how Beast works, but that seems too convoluted and you already lose silk on heals if you get hit anyway. With the extra silk being guaranteed, you could supplement its low damage by using skills more.
>>
>>722320415
I think I'd describe them as Castlevania but with Metroid-like level design. There's a lot more emphasis on fast-paced melee combat and you never get to that power fantasy point where you're steamrolling everything like Metroid, but at the same time, the level design is very varied and involved, unlike the "repeating hallway" syndrome that the Castlevanias have.
The devs said they never played souls before making HK, and pretty much the only aspect it has in common with souls is that you need to pick up your money after dying.
I did feel like Silksong felt a bit more souls-like but that's because there's even more of an emphasis on complex combat.

I absolutely hate Dark Souls and HK/SS are my favorite games below Super Metroid and La-Mulana, so I can recommend you at least check HK out.

Oh yeah, I saw that it has builds and upgrades more similar to Castlevania.

La-Mulana also seems interesting. Honestly I haven't clicked with the subgenre much, I stopped playing Ori 1 because... I dunno it was just not pulling me in enough. The way attacks worked in the game felt unengaging and I didn't care for the skill tree upgrade system. I don't even like Dread much either. I only like Super Metroid and Metroid 1's ROMhack Metroid Planets. I wanna try these games, but I'm a bit intimidated by the soulslike elements. Maybe I should try La-Mulana first?
>>
>>722320725
Not that anon but you are a screaming toddler and I say this as someone who didn't even use tools much. Tools are designed around learning when to use them so you don't waste the benefit (unless you run Architect). They cannot solo the overwhelmimg majority of bosses, if any at all. Comparing them to invincibility is so transparently stupid that you owe the world a public apology for even having thought it, let alone for saying it. Some of them, like bombs with Groal, are specially designed to reward the player for paying more attention rather than less. The only tools that dish out damage with no consideration for when to use them are tacks and cogflies, the only case where tools by themselves break the game over their knee is the Wanderer+flea brew+flintslate combo, and that one is more Wanderer's fault than it is the tools'. Even flintslate and flea brew can easily end up wasted on most crests if you don't use them at a time when the boss will give you an opening. All the ones I haven't listed require you to actively look for an opening in the boss's moveset in order for them not to just miss and be wasted entirely. And while we're on the subject of gitting gud, you clearly don't want to since you think the game shouldn't have runbacks. What's wrong? Do you not want to engage with mechanics? Where is the line here between how the game should and shouldn't be difficult except in your own retarded head?
>>

>>
>>722321331
I found Ori 1 underwhelming too, it's so railroaded it barely feels like a metroidvania. HK is like the polar opposite of that, you have lots of exploration options and you get unique rewards and abilities mostly from exploration (and a bit of buying them in shops). I thought the Ori sequel was much better, fwiw.
Dread also had crappy world design, though I did like it's how it controlled, especially with the speed booster, and the bosses were cool too.
La-Mulana is an entirely different beast. It's a puzzle/riddle/troll/adventure game. It's definitely a metroidvania, and one of the most non-linear ones at that, but it doesn't have a lot of emphasis on powering up (rather most items are more like one-off keys) but you'll spend the majority of your time with it staring at cryptic text screenshots and hitting every wall for the 5th time while cackling maniacally. I recommend pairing with a friend and playing it co-op unless you're a sicko that's really into it. No other game quite like it thoughbeit.

>>722321635
Yeah my main problem with Dread was the world design and atmosphere. I also don't like how... Deliberate the sequence breaking felt like in Dread? That's why I think it feels like an imitation of Metroid and not the real thing. Unlike Fusion it doesn't feel focused either, trying to emulate both the more open games and the linear horror one. But the bosses were definitely the main highlight.

I also dropped Prime 1. It was a slog and the world design was trash. Can't believe people called in 3D Super it's horrible and the first Metroid game I ever dropped. Haven't played Prime 2 and 3 yet but I haven't heard many good things about them.

I don't have friends that share my gaming interests sadly. Which game would you say is more approachable to someone like me? HK or La-Mulana? HK sounds bit like Metroid 1 based on what I've heard about it desu so that could be interesting.

Dead merchants' items get pilfered by Grindle and you can buy them from him at his shop after their deaths.
>>
>>722322418
Definitely HK is more approachable. It's massive and well-polished game that encourages you to be curious and observant, but if you've played metroidvanias before you'll pretty much know how to engage with it.
La-Mulana is a much more niche type of game, and it distinguishes itself not in the mechanics of how you play it or simple exploration, but in how the entire game is a giant interconnected puzzle you need to scour repeatedly and make connections in order to solve, with essentially no help from the game. I love it to death, and I don't want to discourage you if you're curious about it, but it's hard to recommend to most people.

I thought Reaper was gonna be the "caster" crest when I first read the description, lower basic attack damage, but greater silk generation for more silk skill uses. Sucks that the buff is bound to healing, I'd rather have a rebate from enemies damaged/killed by skills, or maybe random orb procs from attacks.

Rain World is much more exploration-based. The map is bigger, the hurdles are larger and more numerous, the punishment is more severe and death comes far more easily.
It's like painfully climbing a mountain, as opposed to HK's uhh...what's a good comparison? Doing an obstacle course? One of those game shows where you're hopping around a bunch of platforms with moving and spinning parts? The point is one is more methodical and drawn-out while the other is more agile and active.
Not that Rain World is bad. Getting to a new shelter is like 10 times the exhilaration of finding a new bench in HK.

There's no way you should expect Lace to have grown by any measure even at the end of act 3. If anything, Silksong's narrative is more of a "coming of motherhood" story more than anything else. Silk obviously failed as a mother despite trying her hardest given the shittiest conditions she found herself in and her eternal child is finally given the chance to grow by being (forcibly, at threat of plunging Pharloom into the Void) taken under Hornet's wing. Hornet acknowledges her past and the lessons she learned from her mothers and is now given the opportunity to do the same for her mirror opposite.

I didn't mean grow, moreso reject the idea instilled , of her purpose. Phantom for example rejects this ideea. Imagine if the Knight was actually hollow. Lace being stuck as an eternal child , specifically as silk intended, would heavily undermine the "choose your own destiny" message of the game , and make her a worse foil for the Vessels and Hornet.

That's something Silksong is missing. It really could use tool combos, from simple ones like Shard Pendant + Magnet Brooch magnetising shards as well, to more complex ones to encourage experimenting.
And the harp that increases Needolin range is so unworthy of taking a slot on its own that it's practically begging to be synergy fodder with something.

GMS while cursed was utter hell for me. Fight was absolute bullshit, badly designed, and one of the few instances where I was just straight up not having fun and just wishing it was over.

It's the worst kinda of difficulty. Easy attacks that can be dodged while asleep, but hard because it throws 3 of them at you simultaneously and they overlap in a way that makes it ridiculous to dodge everything. Like you'll move sideways to avoid something, and suddenly the needles scroll off the side of the screen and you can't see where the gap is, or the screenwide silk trap only has a gap on the floor where the groundspikes are, or you dodge something and it puts you right in the path of something else. The two anons calling her easy and fair are fucking with you, anon-who's-about-to-fight-her.

The runback into gauntlet/boss combo poisons the entire area for people. I don't think Bilewater is that hard in any regards, there's no really annoying enemies, the platforming isn't particularly hard either. Bilewater does have a ton of good stuff going for it. I just think that if the bench was a little closer to the arena, you would have much more people claiming Bilewater was their favorite area, the biggest and one of the few complaints I ever see is about Bilewater the runback, nothing else about the area. If you want an actually annoying area to traverse, then look at the Putrified Ducts, those Acid Burst flies and the half life barnacles are easily in the top 5 most annoying enemies in the game.

It's harder than HK, but not to the extent that some people want you to believe. The general exploration is around the same level of difficulty in my opinion. HK's platforming is incredibly easy and doesn't expect much of you, while the same cant be said for Silksong, despite it's platforming not being particularly hard either. The bosses in Silksong are definitely harder for the most part, but I still think the HK DLC bosses beat most if not all of the Silksong bosses in terms of difficulty. HK also feels easier since it's way easy to get upgrades in that game, and due to the lack of double damage outside of a select few rare enemies and endgame bosses, you can quickly stack up on heath and nail upgrades before you've even encountered half of the game and just facetank pretty much everything.

it's pretty middle of the pack, especially since you have to put up with the jank pogo. Plus the requirements to take no damage to keep the buff going means wanderer is generally going to outpace it damage wise

So much maneuvrability pogo than what? It's just a slightly wider Wanderer pogo. The Shaman one mogs it extremely hard.
Also, putting "muh" in front of an argument doesn't invalidate it. High DPS is a very strong boon, since it not only lets you kill shit faster, but also lets you gain more silk, which is the resource you use for both offense and defense. Landing more hits is just better.

Yes, nations that are defeated by another are usually aware of that fact. I don't know why the game presents things like this as insights of any interest. It's one of the easiest crests to use. Has a good amount of red, yellow, and blue tool slots, a good charge attack, a good dash/sprint attack, decently fast swing speed, and it gets two different buffs that increase it's damage. The only reason people think it's bad is because of it's pogo being "hard to get used to", and that the buffs require you to land multiple hits in a row without taking damage. I like the range it has over the Wanderer's crest, so I find myself using it for bosses while I use the Wanderers crest for thing like exploration and farming. I think the Shaman crest is my favorite though, but you get it at the end of the game so there's barely anything to use it on.

I think it's about reinforcements. Yes you can parse out from environmental information that the workers were slaves but it's another thing listening to the slaves themselves and how they were bound in both mind and body. They honestly believed their labor was going to pay off one day even though that would never ever happen.

The one thing that's strange is where's the line between the person and The Haunting? We know most of these people were possessed by GMS's silk to attack anyone who wasn't. But even though they're possessed, they still have their own thoughts. Do the victims of The Haunting know they're Haunted? There are a few NPCs in The Citadel that express doubt but they're still compelled to attack. It's not like The Infection where you're connected to The Radiance's hivemind or The Void where you don't think at all.

For the boss' difficulty, they're only around dream bosses but nothing's overly bullshit like AbRad , however silksong has a wider variety of challenges(such as platforming, gaultlet, etc) and fromdrones will never stop being butthurt about anything not a 1 on 1 inside an empty arena with a checkpoint right before it. yeah, the usual.

>>722333949
Silksong is generally harder than Hollow Knight, but not by magnitudes of difficulty. However, I think the hardest challenges in Silksong are easier than the hardest challenges in Hollow Knight. The hardest SIlksong bosses are easier than the Hardest Hollow Knight bosses. And nothing in Silksong comes close to the pantheon of hollownest, anybody who says the high halls gauntlet is harder is coping. Silksong also generally has more demanding platforming, but even something like the cradle ascent is way easier than the path of pain. But all of that shit is DLC, so I guess we'll see how Silksong's DLC increases the difficulty.

If Silksong had the God Tuner it would be significantly harder than anything Hollow Knight could throw at you. Absolute Radiance would be child's play compared to Absolutely Lost Lace.

If I've learned anything about myself playing this game it's that I'm much better at 'hard' games than I thought in terms of gameplay but much, much, MUCH, worse at understanding games where you have to piece together the lore and bigger picture.

I had absolutely no idea what was happening in this game. Like I knew I had to reach the top of the citadel, to stop whatever was causing these pilgrims and inhabitants to go insane, but beyond that I couldn't tell you a thing. I suspect I may in fact be mentally retarded or something or that my brain has made an unconscious decision to not even bother trying to understand it all.

When I got the first ending, I assumed that the Weavers just fucked off or the people of the Citadel killed them. And that the were using their Silk to try and get eternal life based on the entry for the Citadel enemies. But that something went wrong and they got The Haunting instead.

It was only after getting the first ending that I found The First Sinner. And the Sands of Karak. And how Grandmother Silk was a relatively recent invader of Pharloom and she uplifted those small annoying spiders that hide in rocks to swipe at you into the Weavers. And they thought they were children of the divine until The First Sinner learned the truth. And they made the Weavenests to conspire in secret to break their connection to Grandmother Silk. And it was their idea to create the church's songs as a way to put her to sleep in hopes she would never wake again.

Nah honestly I read it all, like at no point was I spamming A to skip past dialogue.

But I really think I've gone into the game with a mindset of "this is a game with drip-fed, mysterious lore that has to be speculated upon and pieced together ad hoc by the player" and made a mental decision that I wasn't even going to try to do that because I am too retarded and lazy.

There was a lore tablet at the top of one room in Greymoor that was atop a pogo challenge. I remember getting to the top after ages trying it with diagonal pogo and then reading the sign and it was like a work order from the Citadel, for workers of Greymoor I assume, stuff like "on the eighth day bring ten reels of whatever" and that sort of old timey ambiguous language. And I was thinking right cool that sort of flavour text is gonna mean something to these youtube loremasters but to me it's just... nothing.

All bugs are naturally retarded unless it's a bug god.
Radiance only allowed a few bugs to gain sentience. I think things like the Mantis Tribe have their own will, but they probably migrated from somewhere else after they gained sentience, much like the weavers.
Pale King basically came into her territory and said "lol", thus giving everything around him sentience. The Moths then abandoned Radiance (probably because PK is a better deal) and that's why she sperged out.
I think.

There are naturally smart bugs (mantises, moths, etc.) but pale beings can also just uplift feral bugs into sapience.
Grandma did it with the Weavers and I assume because part of her power literally resides inside of them (the silk) they're not leashed to her location like Hallownest bugs who turn feral again if they get too far away from Pale Daddy.

It's seems like The Pale King's intelligence was more like independence. The bugs of Hollownest worship the Pale King but they're still free to do their own thing. Like the Mantises weren't a part of the Pale King's Court.

The bugs of Pharloom are slaves. Full stop. They exist to work until they die in the name of Grandmother Silk and they have just enough intelligence to do that. The only independent thinkers were The Weavers. They were the ones who put their goddess to sleep and then imparted rule to The Citadel.

Hollow Knight required you to do a second playthrough to understand the whole story too. Here's a QRD:

>There are these things called "Pale Beings" which are basically Greek God-tier deities in the bug world
>One Pale Being, Grandmother Silk, comes to a functioning, albeit nascent, kingdom known as Pharloom
>GMS starts spreading her silk around everywhere granting bugs extra power and extended lifespans
>Pharloom bugs get high off of her supply and she starts mindcontrolling them subtly
>Kingdom starts rapidly advancing technologically and has a strong government made up of the Architects, Conductors, and Vaultkeepers
>Pollution caused by the Citadel/GMS ruins Bilewater/Sinners Road, Sands of Karak, and the Coral Tower
>Weavers (spider descendants of Grandmother Silk) have enough of GMS and stage a rebellion led by First Sinner, the snails, and the bugs of Bilewater
>Rebellion succeeds, but First Sinner is locked in gay baby jail forever and The Widow gets her mask broken and her silk sealed
>Grandmother Silk is sealed and the kingdom starts falling apart because her immortality silk isn't being produced anymore, so places like Greymoor start harvesting silk to reuse it
>Widow goes schizo because of having her mask destroyed and undoes the seal on GMS, causing GMS to start "The Haunting"
>High ranking bugs start going to other kingdoms to kidnap Weaver spawn that fled during the Rebellion which is how Hornet gets kidnapped
>Lace frees Hornet in the Blasted Steps before she can get her silk harvested
>>

Granny Silk's Hot Butter Silk Cream was used to seal her up in the Cradle, but she kept trying to break out so they created the Chorus to sing her to sleep. The Chorus had to be continuously sung which is why Whiteward was created. A lore tablet in Whiteward states that the Chorus must never end so they start infusing buggers with silk in horrific experiments to keep the Chorus going forever.

In the Weavenest in Far Fields, they have a map of how to escape Pharloom. Presumably that's how Herrah ended up in Hallownest. Hornet, and by extension Herrah, are ancient so Granny Silk had to have come to Pharloom before Pale Wyrm went to Hallownest

Nice cheers, that helps me a lot honestly. Some questions following on from your points:

If the weavers succeed in their rebellion against GMS, why does First Sinner remain locked away? Can't they just unlock her once GMS is sealed up?

When you say Greymoor harvest silk, do you mean they harvest it from other bugs or from sealed GMS?

When 'haunted' Citadel bugs are sent to other kingdoms to retrieve fled Weavers, is this because GMS needs them for some purpose or just that she wants revenge on them?

It's okay, I didn't get it at first either. Really I only put the pieces together a few days ago when reviewing what I had. Remember the bugs of Pharloom are slaves. They exist to work for Pharloom until they die. And the Silk is the most precious commodity in the kingdom. So the Silk that falls from the Citadel is caught by Catchers, spooled by Rakers, and cut by the Snippers to be sent back to the Citadel. And anyone who attempts to flee their servitude is hunted and killed by the Moorwing

>If the weavers succeed in their rebellion against GMS, why does First Sinner remain locked away? Can't they just unlock her once GMS is sealed up?
The Rebellion succeeded in locking up Granny, but Granny still had religious followers. Everyone in the Slab was a penitent. The flies and the prisoners. They are religious zealots who follow Granny Silk out of loyalty and not because they're mind controlled.

>When you say Greymoor harvest silk, do you mean they harvest it from other bugs or from sealed GMS?
Greymoor isn't getting rained on. All that stuff falling down is actually silk dregs. That's why the bugs have those weird staves they swing in the air. They're harvesting silk to spool up and send back to The Citadel.

>When 'haunted' Citadel bugs are sent to other kingdoms to retrieve fled Weavers, is this because GMS needs them for some purpose or just that she wants revenge on them?
They're harvesting these other weavers for silk since Granny Silk isn't producing silk anymore since she's locked up in The Cradle. The kingdom effectively functions on Silk, and there are two Silk sisters who need it to survive. They're running out of Silk so they go and kidnap other kingdoms' weavers to harvest their silk to replenish their supplies.

My thought is that The First Sinner was just the first to realize what Grandmother Silk was doing. But how do you present to everyone that their god, who gave them all the power they have, was lying to them and probably going to turn them into slaves too. ANYONE would should insane under those circumstances. It was only later that The Weavers realized "oh shit, she was right." But GMS watches everything so the Weavenests had to be constructed so The Weavers could conspire outside of GMS's notice. And there was just no time to go back to rescue The First Sinner

Their journal descriptions (the workers) says it all:
>Bug charged to catch dregs of Silk that fall from the Citadel. Will attack with its staff if provoked.
>Scissor-wielding bug charged to cut and spool fallen dregs of Silk for return to the Citadel above.
>Tall bug charged to pile Silk dregs in preparation for respooling. Their sharp rake now doubles equally well as a stabbing weapon.

Their tools are for catching/preparing the silk to return it to the Citadel. I'm assuming it doesn't coat the ground because it ends up falling into the water and flowing out into the lower levels of Pharloom if it's not collected in the air. That's how the Haunting reaches down into the Marrow, Deep Docks, and Far Fields. What is caught is sent back to the Citadel.
>>
>>722333440

I want to believe, but I assumed those descriptions referred to their initial job before everything fell to disrepair. When silk was still being produced. Remember that Weavers were the top lieutenants for GMS. Even if they eventually usurped their God-Queen (or maybe just froze her to be able to build enough fallback options to leave), there's bound to be some Weavers that are still broken/loyal enough to keep serving.

And there's indications that Widow was wholly dependent on GMS an as agent.

First Sinner might've started the boogaloo, gotten sent to gay baby jail forever, and then never rescued because she was a huge cunt even if she was correct about Granny Silk being evil.

In return, Granny Silk creates Lace and Phantom because they'll always be "loyal" (or so she thought) and "pure" unlike the Weavers. The Weavenests required the Needolin to enter so that Lace and Phantom couldn't break in and catch them conspiring to either leave or seal Granny.

But it turns out Lace and Phantom weren't too happy being artificial lifeforms, so Lace frees Hornet when Hornet is being brought into Pharloom, intentionally continuing the rebellion.
>>
>>722339702
The workers of pharloom keep doing their jobs even after getting mind controlled by the haunting, admittedly a lot less skillfully, but they still do their jobs.
>>
>>722339294
Wrong. Weavers are on the whole entirely blameless.

If they have any sin, it's that they embodied their "mother" in her domineering, deranged ways. But then they also received a mega dose of God essence,
Making them creations of their God's image.

Also, lied to, imprisoned if they learn the truth, objects for silk manipulation etc.

Weavers were scared shitless of GMS. And already party to a dominating pyramid scheme.
>>
>>722339702
I'm assuming it's used in the Underworks, especially by the 12th Architect, with the exhaust from the smokerock fucking up Bilewater and Sinner's Road. Basically, 12th Architect is kept "alive" by silk just like Lace and Phantom (who also lives right above Sinner's Road).

And as the other anon said, the workers are haunted. According to Hornet:
>These bugs look to have spent every waking moment at their work. Grim, endless labour in service of the unseen Citadel
>Is it the Haunting that drove them to cackling madness, or was their unending toil the cause even before that?
>Theirs seems a sad, grueling task, serving their lifetime for a Citadel unseen.

Who is the "higher being" that is supposed to read this plaque? Who is supposed to go around to read every plaque?
Was Hallownest expecting solely Gods and Demigods to go and read these signs, or are they simply propaganda for public consumption?

What's more likely, that Pale King did an entire eternal signpost system that solely gave basic info to Demigods (and no one else), or that Hallownest propagandists were rhetorically uplifting regular bugdom into "high status" through these measures?

The issue is with the logic behind the system. What use is there in making this information public, solely to Gods and descendants of Gods?
Its not like they're freely intermixing. If anything, God-tiers keep to themselves or kill each other when they do meet.

Your idea of "higher beings" is too narrow. It can easily be viewed as a word for every denizen of Hallownest. It goes together with the Pale Kings broader agenda as well.

Public services for free, education everywhere. A desire for the common bug to reach a higher state of being.

A public information system, and commemorative plaques (marking the Vessel's ascension) are logical in this system.

Pale King was very proud of his son. The statues, the place where he was born, all that information was available if you could get to it.

Higher beings are not a thing in the way the fandom uses it. Team Cherry themselves are guilty of mixing up the terminology here, and of making the world building more diffuse by overusing these terms in AMAs, confusing the already confused redditors.
