Thinking about getting a Switch 2 anons. Sell me on what's good, what's bad and whether I should bite the bullet or wait. I'm mostly a PC gamer but I want to get into comfy gaming away from my desk
>>722316797It's the best device your money can get right now.
>>722316797Well, it has no games, so it's pointless to buy it
>>722316851ermmmmmmm excuse you
>>722316797You get a Nintendo console if you are interested in Nintendo games. This is basically a universal rule that has held true since the N64 days. That said, the switch 2 is fully backwards compatible with the switch 1 if you want to play some of those games, and a competent portable device for some third party ports and indie games. You also have the guarantee that Nintendo will keep pushing out exclusive games for it throughout its lifetime. That's it, make your decision based on this.
If you're already a PC gamer with a decent size Steam Library there's really no reason to get into Nintendo's ecosystem. Just get one of those PC handhelds instead. Nintendo is simply bad value, their games are expensive, their sales are bad, and the exclusives simply aren't good enough.
>>722317026>Just get one of those PC handhelds instead.LOLLMAOThe Switch 2 absolutely mog the best shittyPC handhelds.
>>722317026>and the exclusives simply aren't good enough.Imagine saying this unironically lmao PC gaymers aren't beating the allegations ever
>>722316797Wait until a mainline game comes out such as Mario or Zelda. Until then it's ports and slop
>>722316797It's great but remember if you wanna play handheld and you don't have a charger/powerbank to get that too. Switch 2's only weakness is basically batter life but it's playing games like Star Wars Outlaws on the go. 100% worth it though. Don't fall for the PC handheld meme
>>722317097Anon PC has thousands times more exclusives than the Nintendo Switch 2
>>722316797bananza is excellentthat's it for now, might wanna hold out a year or two
>>722317286never actually played a DK game but I like platformers which I think they are. What's Bananza like?
>>722316851This
>>722316927Ive beaten both games before on the wiibut yeah theyre the best nintendo games of all time. Havent okayed oddesy yet though
>>722316797I think it's the best nintendo hardware since the gamecubedespite what the obsessed spergs here will try to tell you it's by far the best handheld on the market right now as it runs modern games decently for a far more modest price than memes like the deck or the rog ally
>>722317049Cool anon, now show the Switch 2 getting curb stomped by the two year old Legion Go that you can pick up for $400 on sale multiple times a year :)
>>722317026If you think the games are expensive, you’re likely brainwashed by the current business model which pretends to be as good in terms of sales as it was 10+ years ago. I have a steam account since 2007, there was a period in the 2010’s when steam sales were amazing but nowadays they’re garbage because, outside of indies and a few exceptions, a ton of games go on sale while having hundreds of dollars worth of DLC that isn’t as discounted as the base game. Not to mention the cost of decent PC hardware. To me PC gaming hasn’t been worth it since 2020. I used to be into autistic games from Paradox or Total War. These games are developed from day one with the intention of selling you DLC over the course of the following 8 years. Most sales nowadays give you the appearance of a good deal but it’s not as good as it used to be. PC gaming to me feels more like a cargo cult that yearns for the return of the awesome hardware prices and mind blowing sales. Sure Nintendo can be expensive but most of their games are complete with the DLC being a separate expansion. I typically shop around in retailers for good deals, can’t think of a time I bought a Nintendo game for full price.
>>722317049>best shittyPC handheld>steam deckLOLLMAO
>>722317352It’s a pretty good 3D platformer.
>>722316797Switch 2 is good for the hybrid use of the console. Games have potential to look good on the TV. Minus points for not having analog triggers.
>>722317352haven't played it myself yet but i heard it's made by the same team that made mario odyssey
>>722317217There is an infinite amount of numbers between 1 and 2 and not a single one of them is 3.
>>722316797NO GAMES
>>722317406but anon... this one is in hd, has the same low poly models as the wii, AND it costs $70. it's such a great deal!
>>722317352Decent 3D platformer carried by the novelty of the mechanics. Overall worse than the top tier 3D mario games like galaxy 2 and Odyssey
>>722318273It's more like DK64/Banjo Kazooie in that it's more of an adventure game, not really a platformer, platformer is more in the same way that most open world games are also third person shooters.
>>722316797what's the battery like? Is it shit?
>>722316797Wait a while man, ain't worth it right now.>>722316927I had both those on the Wii, 16 years ago.
>>722316797Does it have games you want to play? If so, buy one. If not, don't buy one
>>722318407Sure, but so is odyssey, which managed to still be a more satisfying platformer and adventure game imo
>>722316826I'd argue the Steam Deck is definitely the better buy if you're mostly a PC gamer, since your steam library is shared between devices, including save files, and the Deck even has a mode that allows you to stream from your PC if you want better performance. Also what is that? one of those new shitty Star Wars games? Who the hell would play those?
>>722317352the core gimmick of the game is smashing the shit out of everything, and the levels are basically structured like skeletons with destructible terrain layered over top of the indestructible skeletons so it stops the game from being completely breakablethere's an insane amount of freedom in how you go about collecting the bananas in each stage, DK himself is extremely agile and arguably more mobile than odyssey mario, not even counting the bananza forms which you can basically use (or not) however and whenever you wantthe game also has very minimal interruptions to the gameplay, moving between areas is seamless and the only breaks are diving to completely new layers, but each layer itself has multiple levels and are larger than odyssey worlds on averagehonestly it feels like the video game equivalent of cocaine, I don't think there's been a single point in any of it I've played so far that wasn't fun as shitif you're the type of person who likes doing shit in unconventional ways for shits and giggles it will also probably feel like vidya cocaine for you
>>722316797Pro: access to their 1st-party library which mogs the other consoles, legallyCon: expensive as hell
>>722316797Get it for her.
>>722319496>expensive as hellNot really, unless every piece of modern hardware is also expensive as hell in your eyes
>>722320046$80 games. PC anons are used to Steam sales bro, I got RDR2 for like 15 bucks earlier this year.
>>722320046silksong costs 20 (twenty) dollarsget the fuck out of here with that corporate dick sucking
>>722318273I find it significantly better than odysseyoverall the same structure but bananza manages to have even richer and deeper movement mechanics which is crucial for this type of game and I find the gameplay scenarios and level themes much better as well, the pseudo botw environmental interactions go a long way to avoid odyssey's repetitive objectives
>>722316826The Star Wars Outlaws port made the whole of the internet shit themselves. Because it proves that not only can Switch 2 run current gen massive open world AAA games, it can run them excellently.
>>722316797Wait a year. There’s only like 1 game for it and it’s mid. You lose nothing by waiting for more games to come out. The system will have pre owned versions and the games will do the same, so you’ll save money if you wait
>>722320221And every other game is $70. What's your point?
>>722320478I like how jeets try to ignore it by saying that it's a shit game and that tendies are desperate to shill for it as if it was the point lmao
>>722316797Are there games on it you want to play? They buy it.If there aren't, then don't/wait
>>722320783they're not worth more than 60, hence they're expensiveniggercattle
The best you can do is to buy a hacked Switch 1 or have one hacked + pirate all the worthwile games + retroarch
>>722320478It's running it at 30fps below minimum settings of a pcImagine buying specifically this version that's stuck on this mediocre hardwareDeck 2 will run laps around this thing if we consider comparing a 3 year old difference in hardware as fair
>>722321945>Deck 2 will run laps around this thingkek
>>722321945>saaaar deck2 will save us sar you will regret your words and deeds!!!oh no no no non ono
>>722322119>>722322171imagine being retarded enough to believe that switch 2 being better at forced raytracing while running below minimum settings means it's going to get third party shit when it's locked into a dogshit cpu and a gpu so bad it can only be compared positively to the oldest umpcnext silicon generation is what next consoles will be based on and it's a big jump in densityswitch 2 will be perpetually outdated
>>722316797>I'm mostly a PC gamer but I want to get into comfy gaming away from my deskUnironically just get a Deck or whatever other handheld PC you want if the best specs matter to you, especially if you're already a PC gamer. The Deck is the best all-arounder, though any one with with SteamOS is preferable, but if you want some kernel level anti-cheat games, then a Windows one. They are so, so much fucking better and more capable than the Switch 2, it's not even funny. It's disgusting how shit consoles are compared to PC at this point. There is nothing remotely justifying a Switch 2 right now, all you'd be doing is throwing money at a cancerous paperweight that treats you like trash.
>>722322461>means it's going to get third party shitalready got ff7 remake part 3, resident evil 9, kiwami 3, the new indiana jones game and will obviously get more in the future, now pretend they don't count and dilate lmao
>>722322614now pretend that switch 2 won't be left in the dust soon with its already outdated silicon restricted by being mobile
>>722322703>that switch 2 won't be left in the dust soontwo more weeks dear distinguished sir!!!
>>722322759reinforce your lack of understanding time all you want, switch 2 is already restricted by its insanely weak cpu and a severely outdated gpu that heavily limits what you can even port to begin withthat requires a lot of accommodation and it's only going to get worseimagine buying this 30fps version of third party games instead of getting a pc that will run them better with each upgrade
>>722322943>that heavily limits what you can even port to begin withobviously not since it gets modern open world games your indian brick can't run remotely well lmaobut don't worry sir deck 2 will in 2029 for remarkable price of 900 dallars!!! please redeem!
>>722323232>obviously not since it gets modern open world gamesat 30fps with settings below lowest and upscalinga key part that you omit just how shit it ismind that no one buys a deck to play heavy modern shit while you tendies genuinely buy the shittiest non upgradable version of the game
I got one on launch and love it. Hardware wise it is 100% just a Switch again but stronger. There's no major new features and the UI is near identical. But a straight upgrade to the original Switch with no fluff was exactly what I think we needed and it does that great. So far I've played Mario Kart World and Bravely Default. World is great, though some design choices limit it. If you enjoy Mario Kart though, it delivers well with a fun twist in the open world being new to the series. Bravely is just a good port of a cool game, not a ton to say there. Planning to get Pokemon Legends, Metroid Prime 4, Kirby Air Riders and Fire Emblem in the coming months.I've also played a bunch of the classics but especially the Gamecube games have been huge for me. I've gotten 40+ hours out of Wind Waker and F-Zero GX and playing Wind Waker in bed is what I dreamed of for years. Extremely happy with this, just wish they'd add Fire Emblem and Pokemon soon.If you didn't own the original Switch it also gives you access to a lot of those games so there's a whole catalog there to play, a lot of which has updates to make them run better on Switch 2. Pokemon Violet has been nice at 60fps after playing it so much at dogshit frame rates.
>>722316797Better to give 500buck to a Crack head and see him od than buy this shit tablette
>>722316797If the library was better, go for it but right now it's ports, switch 1 ports and shovelware. I find it mad they released it without a big flagship seller game. Mario Kart doesn’t count
>>722316797Literally the same as Switch 1 just a bit more powerful.
>>722321945>MUH NON EXISTENT PRODUCTholy mother of cope
>>722323460They also ignore that there's multiple ways you can get the game to run better one the deck, with one of the maxing out the visuals, framerate and battery life. Or in the absolute worst case, you can just hop onto any desktop and boot your copy up there because nothing you buy on the deck is locked to the deck.
>>722323460>at 30fps with settings below lowest and upscalingthe result on screen is better so who gives a fuck? this is typically the sort of autistic focus on abstract numbers that make pcjeets such a laughing stockwhat good does your meme handheld pc brute forcing the game does when it runs at 12fps lmao
>>722323730>abstract numbersrender resolution, graphics quality and framerate are abstract now?is this really the state of tendies in 2025?no one wants to play that game on a deck, 60fps has been the damn floor on pc for yearsmeanwhile you PAY to play at 30fps lmao
>>722316797Consider it if there are at least 5 ~ 10 games of your interest that you want to play on the console. Including the Switch 1 games in case you didn't own the former system, which are improved in terms of framerate / resolution stability and faster loading times. Be aware however the battery life of the Switch 2 is a step below the Switch 1 OLED (which could last a good 5 hours from a single charge), even if it remains average compared to portable devices of similar power. Disabling the wifi through airplane mode helps the most.I was also a PC gamer before until I migrated to Nintendo during this decade, which is a far better ecosystem these days.
>>722316797>Slick, comfortable design with easily detachable magnetic joy-cons that actually feel good in the hand>Maintains the core appeal of the Switch 1: Hybrid that can be easily connected to the TV, used on the go or used in tabletop mode, OS is surprisingly fast and responsive, guaranteed to access games quickly.>Decent technology and justifiably powerful hardware for it's current pricing, somewhere between the PS4 pro and the Xbox Series S which is good enough to run current gen games at decent performance with DLSS upscaling.>Full backwards retrocompatibility with all Nintendo Switch 1 games and peripherals, which means a starting library of over 10000 games, 100 of them being exclusives, some of which simply run better on Switch 2 due to it's stronger hardware.>There's also the enhanced editions, some of them free, some paid, but the paid ones usually feature additional DLC.>Cheapest paid online subscription of the big three, comes with all sorts of classic Nintendo games from varios consoles.>Current worthwhile exclusives: Mario Kart World (recommended), Donkey Kong Bananza (VERY recommended)>Games to look forward this year: Pokémon Legends ZA, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, Kirby Air Riders and Metroid Prime 4>Games to look forward next year (so far): Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, The Duskbloods, Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave, Splatoon Riders, Mario Tennis Fever.Biggest issues right now are the LCD screen with somewhat noticeable ghosting and the inferior battery life when compared to Switch OLED, pricing of some first party games like Mario Kart may also be a problem.I'd suggest you get one, also make sure that it is the Mario Kart Bundle if you want as much value as possible.
>>722316797Good is physical games and plug'n'play. Bad is they moving away from physical too and seems like Switch 2 won't have nearly as big of a library as original Switch, but if you skipped it like I did treating it as "Switch Pro" works. Honestly the biggest thing for me is when I get a new cartridge I can put it in and just play the game instantly. Don't need to download or install anything, create and log in into another account and agree to another term of service. Switch 2 is a console, a complete device, it feels like a toy and that's a good thing.
