He tried so hard...He even hired asmongold to promote his game...And yet, the second Capcom's marketing budget run out, everyone forgot about his masterpiece...We gamers truly failed him...
you're unpleasant, annoying, and underage
he just didn't target the modern gamerdoggin's dragmom would have went off much better
I had a blast
It was return to the roots
I loved it. Its definitely not perfect, there are so many things that could have been done way better. Story, characters, enemy variety, gear choices/scaling being somewhat irrelevant, no layered clothing, no hard mode, no mega endgame dungeon, etc etc. But no matter its flaws there is literally no other game out there like it. I literally just reinstalled it two days ago and am having a blast all over again.I'm still huffing copium that Crapcom will announce a DLC/expansion at some point, maybe even as soon as next friday at the NY comic con.
>>722319876I'm still playing through it for the first time.It isn't as good as DD:DA in my opinion, but it tickles my lust for the sword and sorcery genre just right.
>boot up dd2>wander around>kill a big monster>watch some wandering pawns get mauled to death by wolves>ride the oxcart 10 times>rest at inn, save, quitmmm yep nothing finer
>>722320147Its better in some ways and worse in others. I think alot also comes down to personal taste, for example wheter you prefer the arcady DD:DA combat or the slower, weightier/jankier DD2 combat.I'm a little weird because I love hiking in-game almost as much as I love hiking irl, and DD2 scratches the hiking simulator itch like nothing else for me.>>722320157Kino.
>>722318175DD2 is a blast bro and it was a financial success for Capcom. you lost man, you may cope all you want but wont change facts.
>>722319876Sword and board solo is almost perfect desu.
>>722318175I knew it was doomed when we were seeing the same enemies from the first game used over and over
>>722318175DD2 was the most disappointing gaming experience I've had in my life and I'm glad Itsuno got shitcanned for it.
>>722318175I'm so glad he got blasted for making a shitty game
>>722318175>abysmal shitty launch>performance issues because Capcom keeps insisting using an engine not designed for these games on these games>removal of classes that were already in the first game>not as many abilities>about the same size as the previous one>denuvo and riddled with microtransactions>for 70 bucksNot that I blame him. I shall never forgive Capcom. They're never getting another cent from me.

Proper dungeons would make it an 11/10. Just giant mazes filled with loot and traps and monsters and hidden rooms that take you hours and hours to crawl through.
>>722318175I 100% DD2 as sorcerer last month and it was about as good as first DD. I expected much worse desu
I don't know what they were thinking with limiting player skill choice. Why were we limited to 4 skills?Shit like Magick Spear having a button you can just spam to give everyone in your party infinite i-frames next to other more plain/nice but niche skills just made it so your choice was "would you rather play like a retard or win"
$30 was too much. $5 AND drop denu.. whatever and maybe.
>>722324549>I don't know what they were thinking with limiting player skill choice. Why were we limited to 4 skills?Itsuno wanted balanced gameplay over fun one, same reason why he removed random rewards from chests. He hates fun, and capcom unfortunately gave him free reign with game
They could still fix it if they cared.
I remember how /v/ was so mindbroked by discord trannies that ANY critique towards DD2 was faces with so much resistance. And only years later they finally accepted that game wasn't that great.
>>722318175I wondered if there were any nice to explore areas or dungeons but they were all boring, what did he mean by this?
>>722318175It was awful, it failed at the one thing people like DD for, tight action combat, instead choosing to go for something with more realistic physics which makes it feel floaty and bad, also the balance was completely fucked and players had god mode.
>>722318175game looked to woke to me with all the important npcs being black or female but zero cool white male heroes or leaders

>>722325334The current story and quest-design isn't great, but it's tolerable. You could simply expand upon it instead of rewriting it.The foundation is there. There just needs to be more.
>>722325334Just give us a dd2 dark arisen. That's all they need to do. Maybe add new vocations. People would eat that shit up and they could get influencers to boost it.

>>722325467>>722325520Control scheme doesn't support 6 active skills per character, and with 4 no matter what devs do, people would always pick the ones that work in most situations instead of situational ones like in first ddGame doesn't support idea of random loot at all, of course they can randomzie shit, it's easy, but game built with idea that all loot is predetermined, so peopel wouldn't do dungeons they liked for the second timeItsuno really made game unsalvageableWith no real open spaces and mostly corridors, even if they reduce encounter rates on roads, it's still wouldn't be the same as first game traveling

>>722323624but DD2 is an absolute blast bro.
I feel so bad for the suicidal Discord sisters
>>722320537Same, i really liked to travel with my pawns. Since DD1 i wanted them to be more fleshed out, i wanted to camp with them and so on and Itsuno delivered in DD2. It's to bad about voices and personality being tied to classes. I also liked the heavier movement and combat from DD2 best.
>>722318206I'M HAVIN A BLAST™
>>722318175>A lot of times players may wonder if there is something that the game doesn't have, only for our reaction to be "actually it does!"It does not have playable lolis or mystic knights which are literally the only things that I was wondering if it had. And the light was a lich with zombies and skelletons. This is why i play games like this and DD2 delivers.>>722328883And here's the sad tranny that'll never be a woman.

>>722329628Uncalled for arisen.I found the damage potential while clambering around to be lackluster and the animation for heavy stab while clinging to a foe is aggravatingly slow.
>>722330964It's slower, but i think that damage done by a heavy strike on a weak point not only do more damage than before, but staggers quickly. You trade speed for damage. I do think that hitting a weak point is kinda finicky, so hitting that cyclop's eye is harder and you waste more time adjusting.
>>722331474>I do think that hitting a weak point is kinda finicky, so hitting that cyclop's eye is harder and you waste more time adjusting.Ah yes, that sounds familiar!Clambering around on a golem trying to hit the discs only to pound dirt and then having to watch my dude taking his sweet time putting away his sword so he can shimmy 5cm to the left to do it again. Very infuriating.Doesn't fighter have a big dick damage ability while clinging? Yay or nay?
>>722331883Just use light attack to find the sweet spot and them go to town, bro. But yeah, fighter have one move for that. I think it's the same one were he jumps on the enemy and you mash the button to keep stabbing. I don't remeber the name so let's call it the detroit special.
BLAST STATUS: Still having one
Best character creator in a mainstream game in a long while, but they really didn't have enough good face presets in there. Some weird skin texture choices too.Its like everything was a monkeys paw.
>>722332173The problem I have with fighter is that he's especially hurt by the limited skill-system. There's a lot of abilities you want that pertain to his shield, but none of those help particularly well against big enemies where you'd rather want The Detroit Special.Basically I want to like fighter, but he feels too limited so I just end up thieving it up with the nothin' personell skill.

Capcom sucks man, so many cool IPs go out like this with them.
>>722334030I wish i had skills to make a game. I'm happy for you and will sure give it a try when you make a demo. But you should listen to >>722334581. Cheeks are a major selling point.
>>722318175The gameplay as a whole is solid just like DD1, but they should have spent less time and money trying to make the npc AI do whatever the fuck it's supposed to be doing that makes it such a processor hog and instead put those resources towards more game. More variety of everything in the game would have gone a long way. If they'd prioritized development correctly in the YEARS they had to work on the game it would have been a 9/10 instead of the 6/10 we got. I suspect most of the game's failings come from boondogles resulting fromItsuno not being tardwrangled.

>>722335607Capcom is going back to its retarded Inafune phase, and pouring everything on their "big 3". I'm still surprised they're making Pragmata and a new Onimusha instead of dumping everything on RE, SF and MonHun.>>722335739I think this is more on Capcom than Itsuno. Capcom clearly only let in develop it on the REengine and he had to make everything similar from scratch. If we stop to think about it, it's a miracle that DD2 would even work since it was a guinea pig for Monster Hunter. Funnily enough, DD2 runs way beter than World does, even though it had everything from Capcom poured on it.
>>722334030If you add camping that's less barebones than what DD2 had I will shout your game's excellence from the mountaintop

>>722318175>asmongoldYou forgot the maxamillian guy and that one tranny too
>>722338383(some people swear by RAISING enemy's resistance to stagger but imo you should actually lower it. Unless you like being knocked into walls and falling over and not having the same happen to a shitty fucking faggot mini goblin).
>>722336695That works for most games. You just need to be careful to not making camping and cooking to exploitable, but that would depend on how health and recovery would play in your game. In DD2, the maximun health will be lowered depending of how much damage you took. So if you could camp anywhere, this system would be irrelevant. So i think you should look at how health and saving will work on your game and then experiment with a free or static camping.>>722337113Without Itsuno we're not getting anything. unless someone else that cares for DD is left in charge and Capcom let him work. And i don't think that's gonna happen.
>>722334030wtf
>>722335230>not hiring anyone. If you said that because the scenario looks like shit don't worry about that, it's just a test level with very simple geometry.im just kind of concerned that even if your game is really fun, if it looks exactly like every other unity asset flip plopped out by ranjesh in 2 weeks, no-one's gonna give it a second look, so if you put more focus into giving the game a unique look, that would make it massively more appealing. you seem to have animations and hit feedback down pretty well already at leastwishing you luck with the project either way
>>722324370That goblin cave that connects the main land to the volcanic island was cool, I wish there was more of that.
>>722336695Make it a resource of sorts that you can manage.Durability on a camping kit for simplicity and make it possible to find camping supplies that "repair" the durability while on an expedition so that you're not hyper-reliant on returning to town after every excursion.Don't make it too autistic with cooking ingredients and shit like that, keep it simple so you don't end up having to keep track of 5 food types and spices to ensure you get 1% stamina regen while it's raining.Make sure it's comfy camping - make the campfire glow warm and the surrounding shadows dark and oppressive. Also ensure you can interact with small things such as rest in the hammock or sit by the fire.
>>722318175Dragons Dogma 2 may have been underdeveloped slop but I'd be lying if I didn't have FUN with it as is. Warrior was the BEST class because of the increased poise and smacking monsters down with pure strength was FUN, sending niggers flying across the room with a parry counter was FUN, charging into niggers and impaling them into a wall was FUN, knocking down trees from a backswing with your sword when you have enough strength was FUN. I yearned for more of these feelings but the game was too unfinished and the story was complete ass.
>>722341245Warrior was vindicated on DD2. In DD1 it was the best "swing big sword" class in any game, but damage was lacking unless you've built other classes proparly. But DD2 fixed that stat dependency and you can Warrior from beginning to end without trouble.
>>722335607>"we consider the success of DD2 highly, and see DD as a keystone franchise moving forward"They said that a month after release but then the sales came to a halt and stopped reporting on numbers and realized that the game didn't have an impact as they thought it would have for a "major" franchise.Lack of news/updates are a proof of that.
>>722340018>>722340898I'm taking notes here, thanks anons>>722340458thanks, I'll try my best to make it look more unique and pleasant. Maps are made in Trenchbroom, and I've been looking both at tutorials and Quake maps to try and get better at that.
>>722336695>have any ideasboy do I!DD2’s camps hit all the broad strokes but felt like it didn’t quite commit enough to any of them to actually take advantage of the emergent gameplay you can get out of properly fleshed out systems. As to what “fleshed out” means, I can only offer what I envision as an idealized example that may or may not mesh with your game. As a sort of thesis, I think the gameplay of planning a journey can be as much fun as the journey itself if executed thoughtfully and allows for additional interesting experiences when the game doesn’t permit or stymies that planning. As an extension of this I’m not a fan of in situ resource gathering or being able to place a camp anywhere you want, I’d actually lean into how DD2 handled these two aspects more. The camp itself being a resource you need to consider (though maybe with something more interesting than the RNG “monsters show up and your tent explodes”) can make for interesting gameplay, maybe it limits how much loot you can haul back or you have to plan around a less optimal tent because it’s what you have at the time. Similarly limitations on where you can camp I think encourages more thoughtful planning by allowing for a more natural “last gas for 100 miles” type situation or as the inversion, pushing the player a little further to the next campsite rather than them being able to rest up as soon as they reach the edge of their comfort zone. I like campsites as something more akin to a survival horror safe room rather than a bivouac, though there’s nothing wrong with having both for different situations. Food to follow because I hit the post limit.
>>722342373Food could also benefit from a compromise like this, supplementing the food you packed with monster meat being a better meal than the sum of its ingredients. Additionally food is where you can really wring emergent gameplay out of buffs. Maybe some dangerous monster or rare plant tastes really fuckin good and provides benefits commensurate with the effort it takes to get it, or maybe just something as simple as fresh meat giving a greater health bonus than a stale ration. I would encourage the mentality that any buff below 20% is usually unnoticeable, so be generous Above all whatever you do try to prevent players from stockpiling food. Look at Minecraft’s “survival elements” to see what happens when players can invalidate a mechanic, it just becomes an annoyance. I liked DD1’s flasks for this for the most part, though spoilage timers can be an inventory management headache. Now gimme a name so I can look forward to your game regardless of where you go with it, what you have looks solid.
>>722341987Keep us posted. You can use the threads that trannies make to shit on Itsuno to show us your progress.>>722342486That's a good take. And about food you can make it attract beasts. In DD2 you can drop meat on the ground and it'll distract wolves. Even rotten meat works. So a smell system can open new options for gameplay, like distracting or creating traps for enemies. And it's not an easy thing to do, but a small cooking minigame like in Dragon's Crown could really set the tone for the camping system. It would merge the ingredients thing with gameplay and let the result on the player hands.
>>722336249In all honesty it looks like it has potential, the models and animations just look a little.. simplistic.Keep at it.
