Modern vidya could really learn a lot form this quote.Instead of you walking around a room picking up one iteam after another and hearing the protagonist throughts about it, how about making a short 1 minute cutscene of the character doing more or less the same thing and then jump right into the actual gameplay?
>>722322919you're right but how does that pertain to the quote?
Shakespeare never said this quote. He WROTE a character saying it, in Hamlet, Polonius, who is a pretentious blowhard.
>>722322919It's not only padding, I'd say every part of game design process should take this into account (reduce the bloat while still containing the message). This includes in-game dialogues, cutscenes, character progression systems, itemization, map/world design etc.
>>722323536is that so?
>>722324915Simpsons did it.
>>722324915tl;dr?
>>722322919>>722324283Shorten what you said
>>722324990You can't shorten it much without losing any of the meaning.
>>722323536You are a FOOL UPON FOOLS. Yes, the character says this, but the context is that he himself utterly lacks brevity, prattling on and on. The intended joke was "practice what you preach", not that the saying is wrong because a faggot says it.
>>722322919Not every game needs to be witty.
>>722324980>it took a team of 15 faggots 8 months to produce an episode containing something you spontaneously came up with and illustrated in PAINT within a minutewowiezowie
>>722322919>Instead of actual gameplay, how about we have a 1 minute cutscene before we jump into the actual gameplay
>>722325150But Shakespeare was demonstrating his wit by making this character go on and on
>>722323536shakespeare had tons of characters saying some smart shit, wonder why they always credit the hamlet guy instead of him
>>722325158but many games try and fail. Worse than being dull is bloviating to no end.
>>722324986wit quick
>Brevity is the soul of wit.No it isn’t. :)
