Should I consoom AoE2 while it's on sale? I'm old but somehow I never played this during its heydey.Is multiplayer fun for newfags or do you have to be a turbo-autist? Do I need the DLC or just the base game to start?
Yeah it's worth having. I tried the multiplayer once and it almost crashed the game due to the spergs creating thousands of units constantly.

>>722324848>Do I need DLC to start?Base game has hundreds of hours of single player missions. For multiplayer, at the moment some of the Chinese dlc civs are very good. Definitely not necessary though and the meta is always in flux due to patches.
>>722324848much of the dlc that came out during HD edition and the early devinitive edition is now included for free in the base game so it has tons of content out of the box>Is multiplayer fun for newfags or do you have to be a turbo-autist?depends on your definition, since the multiplayer scene is still realy big you will easily find opponents on your skill level, however aoe 2 has a steep learning curve and before you can start playing against opponents you first need to learn things like openings and countersfortunaly, the devs included an tutorial mode explicitly made to learn the basic meta for multiplayer 1v1 so it is not as intimidating as it soundsyou should still be prepared to get your but kicked when you start ranked, your starting elo is actualy quite high so you will undoubtly get matched against opponents that are way more experienced than you for your first games

They're gonna hate me for this but:AoE4 is better. You actually get to use your UU and games are far shorter than the same 15 min slog beginning that AoE2 has.
