yep started doing this today
yawn
>>722330773you won nothing. you achieved nothing.may as well watch a playthrough on youtube
>>722330773Groal is one of the easiest bosses in the game, and that's not counting the many different cheese methods specifically towards him that make him even easier or outright remove the difficulty entirely by killing him before he even gets a single attack off. If you're going to cheat, at least cheat on an actually hard boss. There's no need to spend more than 3-4 attempts on him and the gauntlet.
>>722330773Never seen a good argument against this.
>>722331707why even "play" if you're gonna cheat, just watch youtube
>>722330773>doesn't cheat the runbacks>cheats the bossesBitch made.
>>722330773a white man wrote that post, hoping someone would say its okay for him to do this
>>722330773>cheat>in single player gamewho cares?
>>722331707If you can gaslight yourself into believing your justification for cheating in a videogame so your victories don't feel hollow, then go for it. Non-sociopaths/non-narcissists can't do this so they should just stick to playing the game legit if they want to feel any dopamine in their accomplishments. My argument for people like in the op would simply be to ask them "Are you really having fun or just going through the motions?".
>>722330773>>722331707People typically don't cheat because they recognize the challenge is one of the only things keeping the game from being a total bore might as well watch a movie if all you want is the cutscenes, this faggot in the OP probably calls some gameplay parts "icky" too just to hammer home how undeveloped his brain is
>>722330773i'm guessing he didn't find the hidden bench
>>722330773>I'd have been happy to bang my head against them for 100 tries each until I wonbro just wants a braindead boss fight simulator
>>722333534Yeah theyre just zoning out because they want to get to the end. If they werent so easily bored and disengaged, then they would play better with time, but they actually plan to die when they get like this and just rush bad runs
>>722331376Yeah I did the whole game blind. And used zero tools on Groal as the one I had equiped at the time of that fight was tacks. I ran back 2 times killing him on my third attempt.
>>722331707You're essentially the same as people who put badges on their car to make it seem like they bought the nicer version. It means you're fake.
>>722330773Reminds me of god of war on psp. The final boss had an unskippable cutscene, not to mention a long loading time. But the cutscene became skippable on NG+. Retarded design.
>>722331376>Groal is one of the easiest bosses in the gameYeah you can easily nuke the fuck out of him with tools.
>>722330773I just quit games if they start annoying me like this, fuck wasting time cheating
>>722331707you didnt beat the game, unironically get good, how can you live with yourself when console players are unironically better than you, be a man
That people feel the need to justify themselves like this tells us that they are insecure about not being good enough at video games.
Feeling the need to justify yourself is some pathetic shit.
>>722331707Why even play if you're cheating on every inconvenience?Just watch let's play videos retard.
>>722331376On my first playthrough he got my entire arsenal thrown at him. On my second I played the fight horribly and even got fucking swallowed and still beat him first try.
>>722331376it's an interesting boss in the sense that once you realize you dont need to be afraid of the worm floor, then he becomes trivial. the difficulty of the boss counts on the player being so afraid of touching the worm sludge. plus as you say he is very susceptible to tool spam because of his large size and him just saying put in the middle of the room.
>>722331707I'd rather just not play the game, but I'm white though
>>722330773gamers are so fucking pathetic lmao imagine typing this on a fucking forum. peak pussy energy
>>722330773steam forum users are so dementednobody gives a fuck what you do with your shit life and single player games
>>722332731This>>722332701It's extremely sad
I quite simple do not care what other peoole do in a singleplayer game.
>>722332543>t. plays contra with the 30 lives code
>>722337939Everyone used the 30 lives code
>>722331707Nobody cares, when I was a kid I used to cheat in gta because it was too difficult for meNow I don't cheat anymore when I replay those gamesJust git gud, don't blame the game to justify your cheating
>>722334027NTA, but games have peaks and valleys, and there's good challenge and bad challenge, often in the same game. I know the Souls games getting popular has mindbroken everyone when it comes to reasonable difficulty, and consequently ruined any conversation about challenge in video games, but these facts remain. So with that in mind, it's more than likely that sometimes an otherwise good and fair - if challenging - game can fuck up on one aspect or another, or even just individual levels, which leads to those being way worse than the rest of the game. While I didn't cheat in Silksong, the runback design fundamentally misunderstands a few things about the formula, and I can understand why someone would cheat here, and wouldn't blame them for wanting to "skip" them this way. Long runbacks work when your bosses are simple speed bumps, a slightly greater challenge that tests what you learned in the preceding level, but overall still intended to be just "part of the level", so to speak. These long runbacks worked in games like Demon's Souls or DS1 (to a degree), which had by and large fairly easy bosses, but the bosses also weren't balanced to completely rip through the player's resources. They were just a more challenging fight at the end of the level.Silksong, however, follows more closely the Elden Ring formula, where the boss is its own thing, intended to be a complete challenge on par with or exceeding the preceding level. Runback fundamentally doesn't work here, because the boss encounter is intended to kill you numerous times until you figure it out. People shit on ER for having way too many graces, and kind of devaluing dungeons in favor of feeling more like a bossrush game, but the design made sense in that context.Point is, it's an "unfair" part of the challenge. The average person won't be able to put into words why, but they do recognize that something feels off about the way the game is designed. Hence the complaints.
If the runback is the problem why not use a save state right before the boss?
>>722330773There are no hard bosses except Lost Lace, which was a super fun fight.Groal can be beaten in a few tries with just the harpoon and a bit of patience. Also active tools are gay, never used any.
>>722331707
>>722331707You're cheating yourself out of getting actually good at the game
>>722330773>OP ask for a harder game with less wasted time between death because walking is boring>whole thread is filled with soulfags not reading anything and repeating gitgud like the NPCs they areEvery single time
>>722339026There's only 1 (one) big runback in the game which is Groal, who is an optional boss (for Act 3) and can be shortened by finding the secret bench. So you can safely kill yourself now.
>fromkiddies when there are more challenges than fighting a dude in armor
>>722334027>People typically don't cheat because they recognize the challenge is one of the only things keeping the game from being a total boreI am not sure if that's right. I've read a couple Dead Space remake discussions and every time the impossible run is mentioned a few faggots have to quickly tell you that if you quickly close the game when you die it won't count the kill. I've also seen similar behavior in God of War which has a glitch that slows everything to a crawl. People claim "I beat the hardest boss on the hardest difficulty" and when you say "but you used the glitch" they will tell you "doesn't matter, I beat it" so I don't think your view of people is accurate. I have yet to see a normie acknowledge that "cheating" makes the entire thing pointless, in fact they double down and become defensive and try to paint you like an autist who is taking it too seriously or whatever.
>>722338601If a game doesn't have a runback it can afford to make the boss even more challenging. So by doing runbacks you are actually making the game less challenging. Nine Sols has no runbacks and the bosses are a lot more challenging than Silksong bosses and yet not annoying to die to.
>>722339582literal bugmen attitude
I also did a minimum cheats challenge, I managed to get 0
I know why runbacks bother people even though bosses aren't very hard. As many people pointed out, bosses like Groal are actually pretty simple, could be 3 tries once you understand him. The trouble is that most people experience the game like this>Attempt 1: Just barely got to the arena and survived his opener crew, no heals, die in one hit before you can even learn his moves>Attempt 2: Got to the arena, survived the opener with some resources, learned a couple moves>Attempt 3: Now understand all his moves, next time will be the one>Attempt 4: Killed him, wow I fucking hate runbacks>Incidentally, if attempts were to continue at this point, the boss would quickly become trivial as techniques like water cheese or boomerang spam become obvious and pogos become more consistentPeople want to focus on learning the new moves and experiencing something new, not doing the climb over and over. It's understandable why this is from a brain chemistry perspective, the thing you want to learn has been ripped away. Your brain doesn't like being interrupted. You know when you want to learn a tough chord on an instrument, you might practice just that part before slotting it back into the whole song? That's a natural way people learn. I think runbacks might be disguising too-easy bosses. Crust King Khan is another example where the boss himself is trivial but the gauntlet is hard.I think the runback design is archaic, but also at the same time, it was their artistic choice as game designers. We can disagree.
>>722331707if you wanna cheat, cheat. im not your fucking mom. just dont try to justify it to me like you arent a little bitch.
>>722331707Be a better man.
It's over for soul slop entertainment where you have to memorize the boss's breathing rhythm to beat. Gamers triunfed against evil games. From software better watch their backs.
>>722337024Being good at video games clearly is important and everybody lied to me because nothing makes people openly seethe and cope like being dogshit or seeing someone clearly better than them.
Does the game get harder? I’m still towards the beginning and hornet feels op the heal is insane
>>722330773PC vegans are embarrassing
>>722339998Running back requires more investment, effort and skill. If the boss is right next door, the price of retrying is nonexistant, you can just keep throwing your dumb ass at it until you luck out. This rewards the lazy and sloppy.
>>722330773>if it weren't for the runbacks, they could've even made the bosses a little hardersouls cucks are so braindamagedplease just play a different genre for once
>>722330773He doesn't even have the game
>>722341081It's the opposite. Bosses in Silksong are easier than bosses in other metroidvanias I played. The runbacks are easy. Thus if you waste your time running back, you can throw yourself at the boss and win if you luck out more likely than in other games. In fact that's how I beat Groal. I ran back, threw my tools at him without thinking and they did enough damage. This never happened to me in other soulslike metroidvanias I played. The price of failure is time waste, which doesn't increase difficulty. You could put an unskippable cutscene before the boss and it would have the same impact, because the runbacks are barely more engaging than watching a cutscene.
>>722330773its total slop
>>722343048I meant the concept itself, not any poorly implemented instance of it.
>>722330773based, games that don't respect your time aren't worthy of your respect
>>722330773Announcing on Steam forums that you won't play the game properly?
Cheating to save time or for quality of life is one of the best reasons to cheat. Fuck things like abysmally low drop rates for no reason and fuck video games that dont respect your time
>>722331707there is plenty of arguments, here is one: if you have to make a public announcement about this shit even tho nobody fucking asked, it pretty much mean you're hard coping and your brain understand on some level that what you did is dumb
>>722332731>who caresthe guy who made the thread on steam obviously, he obviously cares a lot since he's trying really hard to gaslight himself
>>722330773I waited to see if Silksong would have obnoxious runbacks and it turns out that it does so I decided I wouldn't buy or even pirate it because it means a game specifically set out to disrespect me and I won't bother engaging with it. I had enough of it with Hollow Knight.
>>722330773average pc gamer
>>722344619And what would be a good implementation of it?
>>722347503I don't play games, I only discuss concepts
>>722331707It's a single player game.Play it as you wish. But if you gloat about beating a game you stacked massively in your favor then expect people to clown on you.
>formatted hard drive >didn't copy old version of cheat engine >don’t want to download newer versions because I hear they’re loaded with ads now or some shit man fuck me
>>722347962Good, because we're talking about a concept. It is your conceit, you should have a general idea.
>>722331707there isn't using guides in any shape or form is cheating as well, becoming better at a game is also cheating while stop playing the game is (you guessed it) cheating too
I beat Deus Ex with god mode on because in the story Denton is supposed to be some kind of Terminator, I'd turn it off when fighting those spider mech ennemies since rockets should still kill him, but anything less shouldn't even scratch him.
>>722331707It was amusing to read the cope brainstorm sesh. None of the replies are convincing, because runbacks are bullshit filler.
Buddy of mine said Silksong was the best metroidvania he'd ever played. Worth the 20?
>>722331707Difficulty is part of the experience
>>722349104It's free on TPB
>>722348386I would obviously implement a sloppiness grading system where the normal enemies become harder if the player did not make an earnest attempt at beating the boss. Maybe even add more, and give some one of the boss's attack.
>>722330773Shit gaem
>>722349131counting to a million isn't difficult, it is tedious there's a difference
why do retarded zoomers play games they clearly don't like? oohhhh nooooo I diiiieeeeed, I have to play the gaaaame moooooooore, abloooobloooooo, nnnooooo I dun wanna play da level agaaaaaiiiinnnn!!
>>722331707you didn't beat the game
>>722331707There isn't one. Let people experience a game however they want. I prefer the devs' intention, but its not like anyone else has to. We can dissect games into whatever the fuck we want out of them. The only argument is like it leaves a worrying notion in the back of your head that you did it wrong, or you regret it later and wish you had done it without cheating later. Thats the only reason to secondguess not playing a game perfectly blind and vanilla
>>722349404>why do retarded zoomers play games they clearly don't like?
>>722349186The ideas guy cemetery is full of snowball mechanics.
