>Upgrade your weapon at town using all your money>First chest in the dungeon right outside of town has that weapon
>he boughted
This happens in Dark Cloud 2 alot but you can break down the old weapons or new weapon and combine them for upgrades so it's fine
Try to come up with several different solutions to the problem and lets discuss (call each other retarded) which one is better
>>722337049Weapons and armor found in dungeons are unique sidegrades or upgrades depending on how easy/diffuclt they are to obtain
>>722337049Simplest solution, no weapon upgrades, you get better loot as you progress, if there's a shop then it sells nothing special
>>722335182DUAL WIELD@@@@@@@@@@!!!!!!!!!!
>>722335182The blacksmith stole your weapon design, made his own and saturated the market with mass produced copies. Its game developers reference to the chinese
>>722337049The objective best solution is to not have meaningful gear drop randomly. New gear should be purchased from vendors, be craftable, and unique drop from specific sources like bosses or questlines. Random drops would only include crafting materials and junk to sell vendors.
>>722337049chests contain items that upgrade weapons rather than the weapon itself
>>722337049The easiest solution is to not put the exact same shop item in random early chests lol, put weapon drops deeper into dungeons and make them always an upgrade and make them more rare. I don't think it's particularly rocket science but I'm amazed how many times JRPG titles fuck this up especially in the 90s. But back then there was very limited playtesting so I imagine a lot of jank like this got left in the game that today would have been addressed.
>>722335182>constantly incentivized to buy your weapons>always find duplicates>halfway through the story you pass on your legacy to another character who needs the duplicate gear
>>722335182>VIP escort side quest>VIP has 3x better gear than you
>you can only buy weapons in stores and are locked behind quest progression >they don't drop at all in dungeons or in the open worlddisgusting
>>722337049>have variable loot tables>reference player's inventory before revealing item>select something that's not currently owned by the playerThere, fixed. Would be really easy.
>>722340670>intentionally own everything but the super rare thing in the chestaside from that pretty neat
>>722340550Literally never happens.
>>722337049>Gear has semi-random bonus stats when dropped by enemies and chests>it is easy to tell and a fairly high percentage of getting the best version of these stats>buying from a shop makes current fights easier>by the time the best version of a weapon drops you should have recouped your spendings on tge shop version, and leveled up enough for the current area boss>better modifiers are on accessoriesI've seen this in evenicle.
>>722340751some level of metagaming never hurts anyway imo, might make it more fun instead of less.
>>722335182at least it wasn't item world
