There's something strange about the fact that fantasy used to be a product almost exclusive to Angloid countries, but it seems like more and moreso they're just not capable of it anymore.On the side of TV shows and movies, English-speaking countries are definitely TRYING to make fantasy, but keep faceplanting. With literature, fantasy has nearly been conquered by "romantasy," which is just women's romance novels (porn) with a thin coat of "fantasy" paint.But none are so bad as video games. I think the last significant fantasy game to come out of a English-speaking country was fucking Skyrim. Maybe Darkest Dungeon, TW:WH and Path of Exile if you count those. Everything else seems to come from Europe (and especially Eastern Europe) or Japan. It seems like every time I see a cool new fantasy game that's coming out, it's Eastern European more often than not, but practically never from an Angloid country.

I think its a product of Angloid countries becoming insanely corporate. There's not much in the way of mid-size Angloid game developers that aren't either directly owned or are some confederate of a big corporation, and the corpos only do follow-the-leader shit and live service mega-games that are supposed to be a billion dollar franchises.

Proper medieval fantasy requires an attunement to the medieval past of Europe, especially that of western Europe, that can only be attained by identifying with that past. Do Anglos outside of England even consider European history as their own nowadays?
