I wonder if they're capable of the introspection required to understand that it's their fault the game/series is dead.

Why does a indie studio need a dedicated community manager? It's hard looking at memes and reading bug reports or suggestions by players. Wtf

A reminder that a random troon put himself in charge of r/KittenSpaceAgency
Nobody asked him to make it and he wasn't affiliated with the project
These people just crave control

It's still insane to me that Bethesda was once the gold standard for 3D RPG's and now it's just another empty husk of a company filled with interns and jeets.
No king rules forever, as they say
>>
>>722416474
They could easily improve and get back to their previous peak, its just that its so much easier and cost effective to sell shit.
>>
>>722411760

i think kerbal2 was a DEI experiment that fell the hardest of all of them because their code was so math heavy
>>
>>722414459
I believe you should screen students in elementary school for cluster b personality disorders and just ship them to an island somewhere. It's insane how much damage is done by people like this who put themselves into positions of power by just screeching until everyone else bends to their will out of sheer annoyance.

>I wonder if they're capable of the introspection
If they were they wouldn't have allowed narcissistic, mentally ill employees to take the community manager position in the first place. These morons fail upward because the world is full of retards. There is no such thing as an adult

HL: Alyx
Concord
Battlefield 2042 (and 6 soon for the death blow)
The Duskbloods (soon)
The Witcher 4 (Unreal Engine 5, so almost confirmed)

>KSP, a somewhat janky but enjoyable space game becomes a hit
>Take Two buy up the studio and announce they're making a sequel with plenty of extras
>It's completely mismanaged, far more effort put into marketing and "community management" than the actual game
>Releases into EA after years of delays, on basically the same engine and with a fraction of the features of the original, at 4 times the price
>They promise all the missing features will be added later
>They aren't
>Game development quietly put on hold after a few years, no prospect it will ever be finished
>>
>>722421107
And last November, the KSP brand was sold to Annapurna Interactive. Nothing came from this so far, to my knowledge, but Annapurna are great, so this is a hopeful ending. Also, Kitten Space Agency is being developed my some former KSP devs and modders, which looks like it's going to be what KSP 2 was supposed to be.
>>

I guarantee the morons responsible for this gallery of incompetence are still getting decent salaries. The world is a mud pit and pigs are rewarded for rolling in it

Does anyone know if the saints row 3 remaster is okay? Ive never played any of them and it's the only one that looks old enough to be good on ps5.

>HL: Alyx
What do you mean? It was great, and Valve are still making games (see Deadlock).
>>
>>722417063
I'm not sure about the actual numbers, but I imagine Bethesda is currently building itself into a Theseus ship as the old talent shuffles out to retire or do software development, before being replaced by cheap foreign or otherwise underqualified, inexperienced labor.
>>
>>722420842
the main issue with Alyx is it's a fucking VR game, nobody played it
it's supposed to be good, but who knows
>>
>>722422413
It's the best example of what VR gaming is capable of. It is, in fact, probably the most technically advanced VR game ever made at the moment
>>
>>722421568
>>722422413
People only say it was great to cope and justify their $1000 headset purchase. No one is going to admit they fell for the hype and wasted 1k on a piece of plastic picking up dust. Sure, from the VR catalogue the game may be the "best" so far. But honestly, I don't think surpassing games like Beat Sabre is some kind of crazy achievement. And Deadlock being dead before even being released only serves to confirm my earlier point. Just compare its player count to the Dota 2 closed beta back when people were dying to get an invite.
>>
>>722414838
He looks so done lmfaooo
>>
>>722423398
I'll gladly admit I wasted $800 on a plastic paperweight, but it's not because the tech is inherently bad, it's the industry's fault for sticking with slop instead of trying to innovate, and I blame the consumers for supporting it.
>>
>>722423525
He's probably exhausted. Most likely he's the only person doing actual dev work
>>
>>722411760
What the fuck even happened to this game? Was it simply too hard for women to make? I just don’t see any woman being able to make a complex physics system for a game
>>
>>722423860
The engine for the first game was a tangled mess, the team that made KSP2 was not the team that made the engine.
You can see what happened. If they had just hired a competent dev team with a history of making simulator type games, and made them create a more coherent engine, none of this would have happened.
tl;dr KSP2 was an abandonware cashgrab from the beginning and anyone who bought it was scammed.

This was made a woman. Her whole channel is about non-Euclidean geometry simulations. She even released a game to Steam, HyperRogue.

what exactly did they think kerbal space program two was even going to be?
the endless quest log of nudge a satellite to the left a bit but with less cartoony graphics? It was a stupid idea regardless of the development's failure

All the VR devs that worked on Alyx ended up hating the medium and even ragequit the industry
>>
>>722426417
Okay. How did that kill Valve?
>>
>>722421568
Deadlock is probably going to be their first miss in a while
>>
>>722427715
What makes you say that? It's the opposite of what I'm seeing.
>>
>>722428568
It's a decent game, but I just don't see it going down as a classic like almost all of their other games. If it still has a loyal fanbase a decade after release i'll be happily proven wrong. Don't think it's going to happen though
>>
It doesn't help that 2 runs like absolute dogshit and has less to do
>>
>>722411760
picrel was a bad enough game as-is, but the ps2 port took advantage of a hardware flaw on fat ps2 to load faster and didn't tell sony. when the slim came out after the game had gone gold, anybody playing on a slim where the flaw was patched would be lucky to get past the title screen before the game crashed. i should know, this was my first video game ever outside of stuff hand-me-down from my brother's ps1 and snes, i was suckered into buying 2 copies.
long story short this got them blacklisted by the publisher and they folded not long after. it's like if the story behind why rare's stop-n-swop didn't happen actually did on hardware that couldn't handle it.

I'm keeping this thread alive because I want to know to. I'm wracking my brain thinking of a game that was had a PS2 port around 2004-5 when the slim came out
>>
>>722414838
>>722423670
The fatsos were community managers who knew nothing about the actual game.
The guy in the middle was just a marketing artist, but he was a legit KSP1 fan and understood the game and physics well. He actually had a side job of teaching physics to the other retards.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzyC85xUm9I

Ultimately, the problem was that Take-Two hired a studio full of artists to make a very atypical and complex game that requires a lot of math and technical knowledge to develop.

Originally the plan was to just do a quick remaster of KSP1 in the same engine, but clean up the spaghetti code and improve the graphics and so forth. It wouldn't have been what fans really wanted, but it could have been a welcome upgrade and it would have helped to recover the cost of buying the IP.

The lead dev, who again was just an artist, was a fan of KSP1 and started tacking on big features like colonies, interstellar, and multiplayer without understanding how much of a technical challenge it would be to retrofit into the existing code. The complexity of the project ballooned, the studio had too many artists and not enough actual skilled programmers, and delays led to more delays and a botched early-access release, until Take-Two finally cut their losses and closed it.

The fucked up thing is that Take-Two never actually canceled the game, and even after selling the IP to a holding company, the game is still sold as early access on Steam. After 12 months of no updates Steam automatically put a warning label on the store page, but it's still crazy that it's for sale at all.
