It's the only souls game I find genuinely tedious and boring.

Honestly, one of my biggest gripes with the DLCs is something I don't see people mention often, and it's something people hyped up before release a lot. I am actually disappointed with the gear and how poorly new weapons are distributed among the types. The new weapon types are alright but the existing ones didn't get enough love imo. People loved to talk how this DLC is like a whole new game with over a hundred weapons but those weapons are so often just generic sidegrades with an arbitrary passive bonus it felt there wasn't all that much new stuff to me. Flails got no love, maces got no love, thrusting swords got no love, nor did halbers. I'd say even straight swords and greatswords didn't. But for some reason we have 7 new spears 2 of which are just worse versions of Mohg's. The DLC also needed more ashes of war because the vast majority of them are tied to the new weapons. So no, the DLC did not feel like a whole new game to me when I look at how little it contributed to weapon lists.

I loved exploring it, but the boss fights were a ballache.
I wish it let you skip right to the expansion from the start if you want so you don't have to slog through 100 hours to play it again. I fucked up all the NPC sidequests and of course the game has a stupid autosave system so I can't just make a hard save before the expansion starts like a normal game.

How so few people talk about how absurdly merciless the distribution of upgrade mats are in this game? You get enough smithing stones to upgrade, what, like 3 fucking weapons total? Obviously there's somber stones, but that's not exactly helpful for casters who have to level 3 staffs per run in addition to whatever melee weapons they want, and there's practically 0 somber staffs in the game. All the stone bell bearings are 1-2 entire zones behind where they should be. If there was ever a mechanic that makes it obvious they balanced this game around having the wiki open in a 2nd monitor at all times, it's this.

From there it's a gradual decline. The DLC continues the decline. There's like 2 bosses I genuinely enjoyed, but not really worth the time or price.
