The press preview link is live and also I just sort of wanted to ruin next fest so I thought I may as well make a thread.https://store.steampowered.com/sale/nextfest_oct25_press/Previous Thread:>>722379857
Early top ten list of promising demos to get you started, in random order to ensure fairness.2.Sword Hero7.Cutting Edge: Roots of Mutation3.Motorslice1.Kriophobia4.Mad King Redemption8.Vampire's Veil10.Aquametsis5.Psycho Sleuth9.Odd Town6.Always With You: Meow & Mystery
I might try this one later, I don't know if "Philna" is supposed to be a take-off of "Final" or not. Especially since it looks more like a Zelda ripoff than a Final Fantasy ripoff.
I am a enthusiast of erotic and porn games at these festivals, here they are all the decent-looking gooner games available that don't make me want to puke at their covers (I haven't tried anyone yet):https://store.steampowered.com/app/3782910/Goblin_Nest/https://store.steampowered.com/app/1703220/Hey_Stranger_I_Dare_You_to_Love_Me/https://store.steampowered.com/app/3851570/Lure_Of_Passion/https://store.steampowered.com/app/3824170/Master_of_the_House_DX/https://store.steampowered.com/app/3689530/Smilers_Den_Deluxxx/https://store.steampowered.com/app/3349640/That_Time_I_Got_Reincarnated_as_a_Demon_Hand_Demo/

>>722477245I don't make the rules. I suspect there aren't actually any rules anyway.
>>722477487Supposedly you're only allowed to enter one fest ever but if that's actually written down somewhere it's sure as hell not enforced.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3176830/Monster_Freaks/fun game for the season, has lots of Halloween / goosebumps vibes.
>>722477789why would I play that instead of Zombies Ate my Neighbours, which, I never actually beat, anyway?
>>722477882its like a modern take i guess. a lot of things it does better, like the graphics and controls
some of these trailers make me laugh but I probably still won't play it but seriously where the fuck is north carolina
>week early>playing unity games after the run any code exploitjej
>>722476376These press previews never ruin the main festival, because only 2/3 of the demos are available, and only the good ones are released two days before or at the very start of Next FestThis ten days period is good for filtering out the junk and coming away with a more clean perspective
>>722477767I thought the trick is that you just need to update your game so it isn't the same version as before, since taking down and reuploading your game clears your followers and wishlists making your game get passed over by the algo
I don't really go for "artsy" metroidvanias. But this one might be okay. It has cats, after all.
>>722478546I have "metroidvania made by chinks for catniggers" fatigue
reminder to not use the steam next fest page because it sucks. Do a blank search in Steam search, click Demos in the filter, and sort by release date. this gives you all the recent next fest demos at the top and makes it really easy to see when they add more
>>722478630start your clawsome adventure now
this one actually came out on the last day of the last next fest or something so it never got any attention
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3004390/The_Cave_Diver/A game about that weird meme I see sometimes of a man getting stuck headfirst in a cave
The only things I remember from Industria is that it was jank and not very good. Industria 2 doesn't seem any better. Oh well.
>>722478686Skill issue
>>722478809I saw it back then and quit pretty quick because of how zoomed in the camera was.
I guess technically if you make a mod and it becomes official then you were a dev. Good shout on your resume.
heh. haha. lmao
do you guys ever play the non shitty games or just RPG maker/waifu garbage
>>722479584can you get some new material. why do you come here with the same tired old insults day in and day out?
>actually the games you play suckoh my god. Thank you so much for pointing it out. I had no idea until you came along and said it
>>722479969you're also schizophrenic. cool thread.
>>722479037I hate this stupid ass meme that gets spammed here. No offense to the game dev,.
he did it bros. he saved next fest. we won't play bad games anymore now that we know
>>722479584The games were bad, but now I'm found. Amazing Grace how sweet the sound.

>>722482176>Did automation result in less human labourers?More, actually. AI is taking over a lot of clerical work, so people have to start lifting heavy shit to make a living.

Sigh, fine, I will now try your demo. Thanks to the anon that linked XOL: Space Mech Wars in the last thread. Looks like notMSG: Encounters in Space kino.
Klostyn's pretty solid as a run-of-the-mill boomer shooter. Liked how much effort they put into the CG intro. Surprised you're some explorer with a safari hat shooting "aliens" that are black tribal looking people in 2025.
>>722482626Alright I'm sold, downloading
>>722476376What I've downloaded so far
>>722482626I played it and want to like this game because with that CG intro you can see there is effort put into it, but the game lack "oomph" to me. You know. Shooting and levels are just mediocre. Also it puts me off that the enemies almost make no noise whatsoever.
>>722476376kek based
>ruining next festpeople don't always keep track of everything and attend the festival every day. so it's okay for some people to play demos earlier

>>722483578they should finish spookware instead
>>722484718>more like dustborn 0.5>it flopped before it even got releasedPFFFT HAHAHAHAHA
trauma bump
>>722476743odd town seems pretty inspired
>>722483149Yeah, dead silent enemies in shooters bother me too. Though the tribal dudes are quiet because they're being mindcontrolled and the space pirates have voicelines though not a lot.
>>722485056>2023The bankruptcy was a play to cut costs, they've been picked up by a different woke Californian publisher.
>>722478216Exactly - so far there are 3555 demos. During the press preview for the winter fest we had 1217 demos and then 2612 during the main event. Even then I played for 2-3 weeks and got through 220 ish demos. It's growing exponentially. I love it but we definitely need the press preview window to have a chance of even seeing the good shit mentioned.
>>722476743>>722477245>>722477767There aren't any rules against updating your demo for the fest. It just won't be featured during it. I suspect anon got the link outside of the fest page? Either way, that game looks like dogshit, please convince me to try it. It looks too slow and simple.
Here's the quirky game of the fest, I guess. It's decent.https://store.steampowered.com/app/3534790/Mesmalie/
I suspect there are demo power players who do most of the heavy lifting and there's probably 5-10 of those users. The rest just play stuff that gets mentioned in the thread. Beyond that, there's a bunch of whiners who don't play anything at all.
they mention enemies but don't show what they are in the trailer. Isn't that interesting? Suits of armor are there though. Maybe those are the enemies.
>>722487098There's a worm in that apple that has a bite taken out of it. The enemy is within.
>>722486834>the quirky game of the festI've seen at least four other games exactly like this on the preview page lmao
>Ambrosia SkySpace Janny cleaning up space stations from space murshrooms with her space garden hoseLOTS of inner monologue about her girfriend (?) i don't really give a shit about>Ctesiphonfps, kinda boring>House Of DecayRetro 3d platformer, also kinda boring>NourishYou're stuck on a spacestation waiting for rescue while micromanaging the needs of an hostile alien plant >YukiY2K Silent Hill>BsideAI Desktop Tamagochi but menhera>Connects to 3rd-Party Service for AI Content Generation: ClaudeStill need to play Anima
>>722487098>no capital letterswere the devs mysterious or just lazy
>>722476743>10.AquametsisWas already a part of previous fest. So the demo is just up there unless they intend to break the rules.
>>722487819are you that smug teenager I saw getting arrested on youtube for shoplifting? thought you were still in jail. anyone you don't have any ground to stand on when accusing others of rule breaking.
Only Sword Hero is promising. It's ambitious but it seems like the dev knows what he's doing.
>>722487921
>>722482524Whiskerwood seems to be the most competent city-builder of the fest. At least from what I saw. It's basically Timberborn with a bit of Anno and Sid Mayer's Colonization, in the sens that you're building on islands and every few days you have to pay taxes to the homeland. There are also pirates to look for who will bully you and bombard your town if you don't pay them. Make me wonder if the end game will be revolution and proclamation of independence.
>>722488162isn't it just a blatant ripoff of Timberborn? or it has its own identity?
>>722488162and there's cats!
demo doko?
>>722488162Nice nice nice I had this wishlisted, didn't realise a demo was
>>722483578cringe "game"
>>722488404I didn't play Timberborn so I can't answer that, but your citizens are animals (mouses to be precise) and you can stack buildings on top of each others. Not much in term of redirecting water from what I can see.
>>722488594>I shouldn't put my penis in that, however
I don't think I'll play any today but I will gather names.

I don't have a problem with Chinese games.

>>722496019>girl hits you running>helps you and tries to fund your medical bills>instead of crushing your windpipe and paying for your funeralVery un-chink behavior
>>722482587https://store.steampowered.com/app/3629930/Cosmic_Tails_Demo/I made good on my word and played it. Fun little ship-based survivors game that feels good to move in(gamepad needed). It feels like it'll have a decent difficulty curve, after playing hard. I was pleasantly surprised by how deep they went w/ the OST in the demo. I do wish the ships visually upgraded, but maybe that's in the full game. Co-op is probably fun, but I have no friends so...8/10, it's got sovl. Will play Nova Nibbles' game when it's out(Luna's starter can suck my ass). It'll be nice having a new arcadey ship game that I don't hate visually.
>>722477013I thought there already was a game called Goblin Nest but turns out I was thinking of Goblin Burrow https://www.dlsite.com/maniax/work/=/product_id/RJ291561.html
MC (literally Me, as in *I*) says at is in this shitty job market, with millions of open positions and no hires
slim pickings so far but theres only a fraction of what will be there when it actually starts and not everything even has a demo listed yet.
I don't get excited for nextfests anymore. Valve hardly curates anything so 90% of the stuff in each nextfest nowadays is either UE5 asset flip garbage, yet another low effort extraction shooter, chink gacha shit, or literal scams that have no intention of ever releasing. Steam's UI is so limited and out of date that it's impossible to efficiently filter all the garbage, so you rely on other people or communities to find the gems.

stellar dream is pretty fun and I havent even got off the ship to fuck aliens yet
>Frontline Logistics: Isarian WarfareThis hits an autism niche for me. Combat game set in the 90's civil war. Decent focus on logistics and setting up FOBs. Unit morale based on shit like how comfortable their barracks are, how good the food is, cigarettes, time spent in the field, etc. Medevac shit, so you can have teams drive up to specific points and ferry wounded back to a FOB (also needing medical supplies to increase survival chances and buy time). Have to collect the bodies of the dead as well or else their squad members morale will go down for leaving their comrades out to rot. Vehicles need fuel, and can be customized with shit like armor plates and turned into technicals.Every individual in a squad has a cute little file on them that tells you how many times they have been wounded, killed an enemy, where they got wounded, etc (pic related)And the visual effects for combat are pretty neat looking too.
>>722502109Haven't seen game such as this (logistics and strategy as means of combat) since that Afghanistan one
>>722502109This looks really neat; what's the actual combat like? Regular RTS?
>>722502109 sure is a lotta words on that screen
>>722499667I see a gundam, I will check it out.
>>722502664Yes, real time but combat is slow. There is suppression, artillery, concealment. A shootout in cover takes a bit, but you can win a fight by just laying down loads of fire until they die. Or you can suppress with one squad, then send in another to clear out the building. Outside of cover though the fights are fast.>sending a recon team on foot down a road>there is a factory at the end of the road>didnt know there was an MG team inside the factory>get decently close>in 2 bursts it drops 3 of the troops>the remaining 2 troops pop smoke and fall back while the 3 wounded bleed to death in the road>have to leave them laying there until the next morning when I send 2 squads to secure the area and collect the bodies>>722502965The FOB managing is like a colony sim. Its just a list of local supplies on the right whenever you have a tile inside the FOB selected. The upper left is tutorial prompts that you can put away. The soldier file is fluff. The rest of the relevant stuff isnt really that much
>>722504078Sounds awesome; hopefully they will have some nice hand-crafted missions in the full game and it's not just procedurally generated stuff.
>>722504078Those tiles seem fairly big, can two units occupy the same tile?
>>722476376It's the time of the year where I keep the games I bought in sale in my backlog and play demos. Hell yeah
>>722504345Yes, you can stack multiple units in a tile. I dont think there is a limit, but if they take fire then you will probably lose a lot more than if you had spread them out.Vehicles cannot be stacked in the same tile though. They can drive past eachother, but you cant park them both on the same tile unless you have a vehicle depot as seen in >>722502109Also in that image you can see I have 5 units stacked in a single building since I am using that as a barracks and it has all the nice beds.>>722504231As far as I know the dev is only doing random gen. There are little random events like enemy special forces teams and enemy airdrops to intercept. But everything is random since the game is half colony sim and the dev was inspired heavily by rimworld.
>>722502089dude it's a patreon game, just download the most recent version off 95
>>722504759hell yeah
>>722486437I'm pretty sure that the number of demos at the main event is always lower than the number projected in the press preview, not backwards, as the press preview shows the net total of registered demos, not necessarily the ones that will participate.
Here's your quirky game with overly long title.
>>722508207hehstill no buy though
