Tried both games, the most notable improvement is the multiplayer coop, is kinda like dark souls were you summon players to your world and summon yourself to them, the rewards for summoned players incentives cooperation

Thrn you have a story mode, havent tried it yet.

A horde defence, which gives you rewards for the normal campaing, like weapons or strong characters

Havent played SoD 1 in a while, but something feels that is missing [aside for the pretty looking characters, seriously everyone in SoD 2 looks like a mutt, no exceptions, there is levels of uglyness in can stand, but i SoD 2 is out of the board]

Overall SoD 2 plays very similar but it has more conent, you will like it.

If only the combat wasn't mediocre this is the game that SoD2 should've been. Focusing more on the Sims with zombies rather than their current trajectory of making gayshit for the sake of it. You can have your rug munching dykes and flaming homos but it's there for the sake of character variety not check a box on a list.

I mistyped that. I really meant that the mods expand on the concept further. The basegame already has a basic companion system based on compatible traits, standing and gift giving but Zedmulate expands on it further with different event chains. If you open the mod up via ingame editor in the scripting section you will see a bunch of different options. Romance is just one aspect of it. Then in those options it expands outwards covering most avenues and giving an appropriate response based on the personality types.

This. Actually having tangible controls on the group itself by setting policies, meeting other factions to actually discuss trade pacts, mining rights etc will go a long way. Everyone and their dog has played your loner zombie survival with busybody crafting bullshit. Few outside of Rebuild have tried the same thing at scale with the ability to nation build and dictate the future for vast populations working towards a singular idea. And if you don't want that let the AI do the heavy lifting while you move through with a tight knit group that works as a middleman between the various powers. Play the zombie equivalent of a mercenary warband or caravan company that looks to profit off the ensuring carnage.

Also humans are absolute cancer to fight on higher settings.

I also don't get the appeal of reusing characters in new campaigns. The instances are completely separate from one another, but you can use this cheat character and skip the excitement of finding good gear or seeing your dudes grow. Yet it's presented like some core element of progression.

This might be a holdover from Breakdown where the main draw was carrying a single group across different map changes as the difficulty escalates. One notable difference is rather than having a set cast of visually distinct characters you have your donut steels and whatever they were carrying prior to the jump. I liked it for seeing how many times they can survive before something kills them but because the game treats everything like a separate instance there is no real permanence shown on the character itself.
