>>722494865>>722496740I've been using Lurk's Absolutely Unofficial True Patch Platinum, which is what the basic unofficial patch should've been because it doesn't touch any actual game content, just makes it so you can launch and finish the game on modern computers. I used to hear that you couldn't finish certain quests without UP but it turns out that was bullshit, the game works fine with this patch and I'm already on my second playthrough for the year. The only things really missing are widescreen resolutions and the water effect not being fucked, but those are both exactly the same as the vanilla game. You also need to cap the framerate to 90 or less because it'll break the Source engine physics, but that's standard for all Source 1 games to begin with.

You need to fill up your entire inventory with blood pack for boss fight and then for sewers, or else you'll be struggling hard (unless you're nossie who actually get bonus from sucking off from rats). Once in sewers, you'll be crawling around in circles and fighting back against dozens of enemies, and the mini boss fights are tedious unless you got invested enough points in combat skills. Past certain point you can see obviously that it's one of most unfinished parts of the game and it shows.

The sound design on those little fleshcrafted beasts is fantastic and I still jump a bit when I hear their panting and roaring. But then it just keeps going and going. Aside from implementing skips that utilize skills other than hacking (which exists in the patch) there's not much you could do to salvage it. Maybe add some humans you could use to resupply. But then again there's already an exit partway through the dungeon and if someone is modding the game chances are they already played this so they know what to expect and can prepare for it. The one annoying thing you could do is eliminate the keycard requirement at the very end there. I remember a couple times I was playing it, and I forgot about the card and I got frustrated I had to go back and look for it. Especially as a stealth character.
