Typically they're designed to be appealing long term games with minimal complexity and appealing designs and characters or story. Beyond the obvious pretty women or men or content tied to them, the gameplay is usually designed to be Cookie Clicker-esque in the sense that you continuously want to keep building more and leveling more and progressing your units.Personally the only gacha I've stuck with long term is Fate/Grand Order and that's because I enjoy the story and gameplay as well as the characters.
